So right off the bat, I was uncomfortable, maybe Black ppl don’t frequent this spot AND if this is true, I can see why…
I had the shrimp tacos with a side of rice with beans. These people served me warm/cold food. Now, you may not believe me but Black people know what’s up! THEY SERVED ME WARM/COLD, more on the cold side, FOOD. IDC how cold it is outside, it shouldn’t be cold inside the kitchen. So now, Im annoyed. The waitress (Yudi) gave me the explanation of maybe their warmer isn’t working well since it is cold outside then ask if I want her to warm it up? NO! The rice wasn’t even fresh even though she said it was, I know better especially since I am a chef! Additionally, the beans were warm and all they did was reheat the salad shrimp in the tacos.
This is surely a Servsafe violation when serving cooked food. Could it be because I am Black or is this something their restaurant does on a regular? Their reviews doesn’t really reflect that so ill say they didn’t value my patronage so they served me cold food. I will be reporting them to the state AND because my patronage was not valued, I did the waitress a favor by giving her a $2 tip becuase her service was good but nothing more than that because she knew she served me cold food, I can assure you just her friendliness awarded her those $2. Let that sink in!
So aside from food safe regulations, the food had no taste. It was bland even with the Chalula hotsauce.
The hottest thing on the table was my tea! SMH!
Try it for yourself but I will not try it again, I didn’t even speak on the “idk what that string was” in my cheese for the tortillas they give.. See pictures. The waitress took the cheese and salsa back due to this string she said was the cilantro. Brought another cheese and salsa after I ask her to once I seen the string, that cheese was cold too, the one she brought back, this happened before my actual meal came out.
So, I tried to give them the benefit but it did not benefit them. I spoke to the Manager after the fact, while I was writing this review and that was useless. He gave me my money back but he, repetitiously said, what I should have done. In this, case sent the food back ask for something else, that’s for any restaurant. He didnt listen to anything I said as to why I’m calling to speak to him. He would not allow me to tell him why I didnt send the meal back, I think he was more focused on refunding the money. I tried to tell hom the foods she did take back burner he just kept talking so obviously he knew more than me at that point until he spoke to Yudi.
Listen, as a chef, I sat in their restaurant, sent back the cheese and salsa because of a string, the waitress says was the cilantro. She brought another cheese that was warm, on the cold side. Secondly, I got my meal, it was warm/cold but the rice was cold and not fresh even though the waitress said it was fresh then asked if I wanted her to warm it up, REALLY? The plate was warm but the rice was cold. So you had my food waiting? It was NOT busy, there were all of three or four ppl in there and it was 12p. Think about that!
Being, I was there to eat and famished I might add, I just ate the food because at this point, do you think I’m sending the meal back after all of that?
Obviously there was no regard for my patronage there. Having a refund is ok but it’s tainted this restaurant for me. That’s more important.
First the food. It was way to greasy, even the chicken quesadilla was dripping with grease. Also I got the beef fajita taco, which wasn’t fajita, was again dripping with grease and had Gristle in it. No good taco has gristle in it. Not to mention, it was all bland! Me and the rest of my party did not feel great after eating here.
Secondly, the atmosphere, while colorful, felt a little cluttered and everywhere, and it was kinda dusty. Also there was fish in the fountain, bigger gold fish not small ones. That feels a little cruel. And while we where there, the only music was spanish Christmas, which was a little interesting for January 2nd.
The only upside was the waitresses, she was very kind and Sweet.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend and I probably won’t ever be coming back.
My food was fine I got a chimichanga, my gfs pork tacos were so dry and disgusting she couldn’t even eat them.
The worst part of all it it is, after taking our order we where in a room that was reserved for a giant party for a kids sports team.
The entire restaurant was empty!!!!!! There were so many quiet tables available!!!! But instead they stick us in this room and I think everyone in that room was screaming at the top of their lungs. I had a headache when I left, we complained to staff and all they said was “oh sorryyyy” like don’t say sorry MOVE US. These children were so terribly behaved and screaming I couldn’t even believe what I was experiencing. Definitely inconsiderate of the staff, completely ruined our date night we will never be back a that’s unfortunate for them because we are frequent customers.
My wife had the chicken nachos, chicken was hard tasted like 3 days old and then the chips were so soggy!
Still so delicious! Pazole has the best flavor and huge portions.
OMG! Why? Why have I not eaten here before!?! This is authentic, delicious food with fabulous service! Our server Fabian was the best and most helpful. White queso and salsa, Pazole Rojo, Botanas, Mexican tacos with chicken tortilla soup and potatoes, guiso with rice and bean, mangonado. EVERYTHING was delicious but I think the Pazole was my favorite. Don’t be afraid to try a squeeze of lime. Reasonably priced and big portions of delicious food
