I was delighted that they could seat our party of six so close to closing time. They consistently kept our sweet tea topped up, and the food was surprising. We got the Dolsot Bibimbap and it was served piping hot in a wonderful presentation. I wasn’t expecting the meat to be sweet, and it was perfect with the spicy or savory sides. I loved the atmosphere, and the service was fantastic. They checked on us for last call, to ensure all of our consumption criteria were fulfilled.
Great family location, and the sushi looked scrumptious.

Mangetsu in Old Town Melbourne is a true gem! We started with the Shrimp Tempura appetizer — perfectly crisp and delicious. I had the Yakisoba, which was flavorful and satisfying, while my wife loved the Green Curry — rich, aromatic, and full of depth.
What really made the night special was Amanda, our server. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from start to finish.
Between the amazing food and outstanding service, Mangetsu is easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Melbourne. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was great, but the wait time was far too long. I arrived at 6:00 pm and waited about 40 minutes, only to be served the wrong dish. I ordered cold noodles, which shouldn’t take nearly an hour to prepare. I ended up cancelling the cold noodles. Meanwhile, tables that arrived after us received all of their food before I did.

This little place serves really delicious Asian cuisine. We’ve eaten here twice and were happy both times. Everything we’ve seen come out of the kitchen looks and smells delicious. And the food is as good as it looks. We’ve over-ordered twice. We want to have our Go To dishes but also try something new. It”s a little bitty place that fills up fast. The restaurant is a little loud and bustling. They have a small but sufficient bar. Not a spot for a romantic dinner, but the spot for really good Asian food. We’ll go when we’re in Melbourne again.

The food was very good. The experience of cooking your own meat was great. The waitress was on top of drinks and refilling sides as we ran out. The sushi was AMAZING!

Always delicious! We had the sushi boat for three. Every bite was tasty. It came with soup or salad. My friend had never been and enjoyed every moment. The atmosphere is great and the service was very good.

Went during lunch hours. The food was good, but the service was disappointing. Our server seemed more focused on interacting with her friends than attending to customers. She forgot my request for kimchi on the side, we waited a long time for our order, and she never checked on us — even though other tables that arrived later were already served.
When I followed up about my request, she said she was busy, but I noticed she was mostly walking around and spending time at another table with her friends. She also cleared plates with food without asking if we were finished, and never asked if we needed anything.
I’m a very observant person and appreciate good service, so this experience stood out. I would go back because the food was good, but I hope we have a different server next time.

Fantastic food! The salmon sushi, volcano roll, steak teriyaki and korean bowl were all outstanding. I have multiple food allergies and the waitress Sarah patiently went through the menu with a lovely smile and made great suggestions for food I could eat. Stopped here for lunch. Service was fast. Restaurant and bathroom were clean. We Will definitely come back here when we’re in the area again.

A place offering Korean, Japanese and Thai cuisine. These types of spots are typically not that good and Magentsu was no exception. The chicken bulgogi was just edible and the pad see eaw was overly sweetened. The teriyaki salmon was pretty dry. The super crunch roll was the best thing ordered and it was good, not great. Table grilling is no longer an option, makes sense as this space doesn’t appear to have the appropriate ventilation setup.
