Our last meal in New Orleans, which was also our last meal of our trip and we saved the best till last! We changed from Antoine’s to Restaurant Rebirth at the last minute and I’m so glad we did! Everyone was very nice and our server Jimmy was very personable and attentive.

We had the Pork Belly and Popcorn Shrimp to start. My only criticism with the shrimp was there was way too much salad and I would’ve rather seen it served in a small bowl or glass.

Mains – We had fillet mignon and the pork. Both were cooked well. The pork is apparently what the restaurant is renown for and I can see why. To cook a double cut and have it cooked through and still moist was very good! And the glaze of sugarcane creole was incredible.

No room for dessert but shared a nice bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc throughout dinner. I had to say, it was one of the better NZ’s we’ve tasted and as we’ve tasted a lot of different variations!

If we ever return to NOLA, we would certainly come here again!

Undoubtedly, the best fish I had on my trip to NOLA after visiting 25+ restaurants. Their grilled fish (5/5) was so fresh, sweet, fluffy, and flaky. I mean look at that crust on the fish – so awesome. I can’t recommend it enough. The pork belly (4/5) was good and their gumbo was very smokey (4/5). Service was so incredibly nice. Dont walk, run here!

Excellent food and service. The wagyu steak and scallops were amazing. Off the beaten path but worth it. Bob greeted us like family and our server Jimmy was great. Keep in mind that the menu changes. So the menu you see online may not be the current one.

Absolutely fantastic service and eats here! David was very accommodating and helpful. Not to mention my high energy server Jimmy to top it off. If it’s your first time I recommend pork chop it can feed 4 people by its self and bread pudding was outstanding too!

My Bartender Jason was amazing! Very personable and easy to converse with. I had no idea at first what I wanted to drink and he made the perfect Smokey delicious Manhattan! It’s my first time to New Orleans and I will definitely be back to see Jason!! Also David was amazing taking care of our party with great Accommodations when they ran out of chicken. We were also able to reserve three seats at the bar before we even got here! I can’t say enough, how appreciative we are as newcomers to be welcomed so much! Thank you so much, Misty

We tried this place during Coolinary Month. Loved the rustic yet classy atmosphere. Our waiter Brian was great. The “Country Gumbo” was rich and flavorful. The “Shrimp & Eggplant” was amazing! The “Chicken & Mirliton Rochambeau” was scrumptious! That chicken was down right sinful! The “Fish of the Day” was also very delicious. However the menu stated popcorn crawfish along with the ingredients but there were none. I was so enthralled with eating the dish I didn’t bother complaining. So check your plates. Next I will. For dessert I have to say that I wasn’t expecting much since I’m not a big fan of bread pudding. However, that was some of the best if not the best bread pudding I ever tasted! It’s pricey but we totally recommend this place for your next date night or evening getaway.

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Jimmy was AMAZING! He was personable, accommodating, and entertaining. The ambiance was wonderful and the food was seriously unmatched. The filet mignon and scallops were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the cornbread was to die for. I strongly recommend this restaurant!

️ A Night of Missed Marks and Unsold Promises
My recent dinner at this perpetually booked establishment, despite its considerable hype, proved to be an exercise in unfulfilled potential and culinary missteps. The bill, a steep $135 before cocktails, left a bitter taste matched only by some of the dishes themselves. One truly wonders how such a performance secures a full dining room night after night.
Service: A Side of Salesmanship
Our server, Mr. Jimmy, was undeniably pleasant, yet his attentiveness was overshadowed by a disconcerting, almost theatrical “used car salesman” charm. The service, while well-intentioned, felt less like fine dining guidance and more like a high-pressure sales pitch—a dynamic that detracted significantly from the evening’s flow.
The Appetizer and Main Course Woes
The kitchen’s execution was, frankly, jarringly inconsistent. The beef tartare, a classic test of technical skill, was served not as the expected finely minced preparation, but rather as coarsely chopped up meat, fundamentally altering the intended texture and elegance of the dish.
The main courses offered no redemption:
• Pork Belly: This dish suffered from a heavy-handed application, tasting overwhelmingly as though it had been submerged in barbecue sauce before being hastily “toasted” to a questionable finish—lacking the crispness and rich, unadulterated flavor expected of perfectly rendered pork belly.
• Pork Chop: While certainly generous in size, the chop arrived noticeably dry, an unfortunate oversight that stripped the cut of its inherent succulence. The accompanying vegetables—plainly frozen green beans—were a truly unforgivable shortcut for a restaurant operating at this price point and purported caliber.
The Bar’s Blunder
Finally, even the libations failed to impress. The cocktails were clearly in need of significant refinement, further suggesting a lack of attention to detail that permeates the entire operation, from the bar to the back of the house.
In summary, this dining experience was a collection of culinary compromises and service theatrics that simply do not justify the hefty price tag. The reservation ledger may be full, but the promise of a memorable meal remains stubbornly empty.

I was in town for a conference the last week in Feb, and on Friday night dinner was on our own. Looking for a slightly upscale but authentic NO cuisine experience, a colleague found Rebirth. We booked a table for 6:45pm (for 6) for dinner, as we had a very early start the next day and were dealing with jet lag. We were seated right away and Jimmy was great helping us get familiar with the menu and offering recommendations. Our drinks came quickly and apps were ordered along with entrees.

The cornbread for the table was very good though very slightly on the dry side (I personally would have liked a pat of butter to go with it). The appetizers took maybe 15-20 minutes to come out (several small cauldrons of gumbo and the blackberry & brie salad), which was all also very good.

This is where the experience changed. Jimmy was still great – checking in often, refilling waters, asking if we needed more drinks, however it took 2+ hours to get our food! It was well past 9pm. (Thankfully the conversation was good.) Many tables came in after us, got food, ate, and left, and we were still waiting. At one point we asked what was happening (we were getting very tired) and were told there was a “new guy in the kitchen” – not super encouraging.

When our food finally came it WAS fantastic (2x pork chops, fish of the day – mahi mahi, 2x redfish, and scallops). It was hands down the best pork chop I’ve ever had in my life, and another in our party said the redfish was also the best he’d ever had, and he had had it many times before at other establishments.

When done, we were asked if we wanted dessert and we all said no, we were ready for bed, but then Jimmy came and said we would be getting 2 desserts on the house to share because of our wait (bread pudding and tiramisu), which were again fantastic, but honestly we would have preferred a discount of some sort just because of the time so we could have been on our way. We did not get back to the hotel until almost 11pm.

Overall, food and wait staff were top tier, kitchen efficiency left MUCH to be desired.
