Bespoke Bourbon. While they will serve you whatever you want at the bar, to miss out on their long list of brilliant Bourbon would be a missed opportunity. The food here is interesting, creative and very tasty. The service is spectacular- it feels like a club where membership is required but just walking in the door makes you a member. Difficult ro be chubby and welcoming to all at the same time. Enjoy.

Went here for brunch. The food was so good! Got the honey butter chicken biscuit and that honey butter was delicious. Also did the brunch fried rice which was good and well seasoned. The bottomless deal is good where it is $28 per person and they leave a champagne bottle and juice at the table so you can make your own. Service was great as well as they were super attentive.

Back in November I visited Barrel Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and while the food itself was genuinely delicious, the overall experience was pretty disappointing due to the service.

One of my friends had kindly arranged a birthday brunch for me there, and we were hoping for a bit of a special touch since it was a celebration. When I mentioned it was my birthday and inquired if they did anything special, they flatly told me they don’t do that. I tried to negotiate or at least see if there was any flexibility, and the manager’s response was quite rude and dismissive. They basically told me that my persistence was making them less inclined to do anything at all.

Overall, while I really enjoyed the food, the attitude and lack of consideration from the staff left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t recommend Barrel Restaurant if you’re looking for a place that values customer service or special occasions.

We hosted a private whiskey tasting at barrel this past weekend to celebrate a birthday and it was a phenomenal experience. Matt was so easy to work with in planning a great experience from start to finish – securing a date, planning the slate of whiskeys to taste, bringing in some special bottles for us to sample and helping with private dinner in the basement to follow. The downstairs bar has a great vibe and is super private. Matt also is super knowledgeable and started the tasting with an overview on how whiskey is made, the difference between bourbon, rye, whiskey and scotch and reviewing the specific bottles we sampled. Great option for a small private party to celebrate a special occasion!

If you love bourbon, this is the place to go!! I only drink bourbon and there were so many choices and I finally got found a Little Book that I’ve been wanting to try, I was the first person to try the bottle. If I lived in DC. I would go there again. The bartender was amazing and made my visit an experience.

Decided to try this after a work dinner. The bar has a great atmosphere for the bourbon scene.
Quite a selection with a menu almost too big to review it all.
The bartender was very knowledgeable and explained our options well. We asked for suggestions and he didn’t lead us astray.
Seemed reasonably priced for the market and based on bottle prices.
Worth a stop for sure!!!

Came here on a Saturday in December for brunch and it was amazing ! College football was on all the TVs and there was good music playing. The service was great and everyone was attentive. The vibe was really cool and rustic but still modern. They also had another restaurant/bar area in the basement from what I remember. Had endless amounts of mimosas but after the first bottle of champagne started to slow down a bit so I could make it through the rest of my day Ordered the steak and eggs and honestly it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had – highly reccomend. Would definitely come back for brunch here next time I’m in the city.

Delicious brunch. Love the make your own mimosas. The kitchen was slow but that was fine with the delicious drinks. It was worth the wait the chicken and waffles as fantastic and perfectly cooked. The crab Benny was all crab meat and no filler. The music selection was our speed with 80s tunes and not too loud with college football on but silent. Highly recommend among many brunch possibilities in navy yard and eastern market.

We visited because we were looking for a good spot to get cocktails and whiskey. They did not disappoint. I don’t know how many whiskeys they have officially, but they have enough of them that they had to list them in their “Bourbon Bible.”
We tried the Nachos, crab Rangoon, and the Barrell Burger and enjoyed all of them.
The nachos were delicious with shredded pork on top.
The cocktails were a highlight. I found several great whiskey pours at reasonable prices (understand it’s never cheap to drink bourbon out), and my wife and daughter loved their cocktails they ordered.

The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cool and rustic, and the whole vibe makes it a place worth trying. I hope to come back before our trip is over.
