This place has a great atmosphere and ambiance. We both ordered steak, they were cooked to be perfect medium rare. The asparagus was cooked. The salad was phenomenal. The carrot cake was so moist. It’s a hidden gem if you are in the area highly recommended! Customer service was awesome, and Theresa did an awesome job! It’s an old place with a cool layout and some old goodies packed away on the walls and above. Old pedal car, and much more.

Steaks, Prime Rib, Catfish, Shrimp, Burgers…all was so good! Our server, Casey, handled our group of 20 like a pro! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice dinner in a casual atmosphere. Next time I’m going to try one of their desserts!

Friend and I were traveling back to Illinois when he noticed the Harry J’s sign along the highway. So off we go to grab a bite. I wasn’t expecting this place however it was so nice to find it. Historic building with lots of interesting decor inside. Staff friendly and dining environment fun. Food was so good and the steak I ordered was cooked perfectly. Steak fries were basically a baked potato cut up and they were so good I could have ordered more of them. Both of us we glad we saw this sign or we would have missed a great meal. Returning again soon with my wife.

Service was great, cool trinkets all around the lobby, food is good. Only thing I found was tomato was thick for the burger. Took a bite out of it and it tasted off. Like aluminum or steel taste to it, but it was a fake tomato too, other than that the rest was good.

Let me start off by saying I’m a contractor my wife’s a dietary physician- medtech very rarely do the stars align and we get to actually spend time together dress up nice and go out to eat we stopped in for the valentine’s special 2 flamenon steaks with 2 sides and dessert for $75 bucks we sat down and ordered the special after about 20 minutes sitting at are table they where packed also ordered some fryd pickles as are appetizer the appetizer arrived about thirty minutes after ordering the pickles them selfs where slimy and pulling out of the breading when trying to eat them me and my wife looked eatch ate 1 and look at one another then slide the pickles to the side waiting for are steaks the server came over and told us that they where out of baked potatoes and would take another 45mins to prepare after already we have already waited 50mins for are food my wife and I declined she went with a sweet potato and I went for the French fries loaded about a hour and 20mins into it my frys where served with a flick of bacon in one corner of my potato chunks are food was served i requested that my flamenon be cooked well done with no blood guess what I was served a med rare stake with blood I sent it back stated I requested a well steak she asked, what was wrong with it?Sorry.I stated again that I requested a stake that was well done as I re split the center of the steak proving that the steak was still very pink inside and bloody she’d then apologize and took back my stake and my wife’s steak away.Because my wife didn’t eat in front of me
when I got my steak back it was like they put it in the microwave it was very chewy as I cut into my steak I kept finding more and more fat chunks like I was served a fila of beef instead of a filaminion it was terrible my wife who ordered her steak med rare and likes her steak bloody was also very tough and chewy also don’t know if you guys had ever had the chance to order your meat through one of those places that go door to door selling meet then directly drop it off to you but it kinda tastes like that meat does absolutely taste horrible we then asked for a check as we where finishing up the first time the waitress stopped at are table it was so bad we didn’t even bother to ask if they had a container to bag up the left overs to give to our dogs……..the bill was $99 we tipped $10 bucks and left

Quaint and cozy restaurant is a small town, off the beaten path.
Very nice decor of antiques and other memorabilia making for the right down home atmosphere.
Well know for their great steaks, which you can’t get any better at the price. Baked potatoes are melt in your mouth good.

This is the best steakhouse in town. Prices are competitive with any other restaurants. They have daily specials. Husband’s birthday he got steak it was delishish. Portobello mushrooms were fire. Catfish dinner was perfect. A couple drinks. Perfect date night..We will be going back!!!

I’ve eaten here twice and loved the food both times. This time I had steak and it was excellent. I’ve never had room for dessert here, but their desserts look big and delicious!

I have been visiting Harry Js for many years, always ordering the prime rib on Saturday. The service is excellent, and personnel are friendly. We had fried mushrooms, a salad, and fried catfish, which was excellent.
