This location is fabulous! The ambient lighting, decor and music make for an elegant expirence. I crossed paths with a familiar smile and couldn’t pass on saying hello. The district manager is classy and runs a tight ship. After 25 years, the chips have been updated to a thin restaurant style which I feel is a win, the chips are crisper and loaded with flavor. I made it for happy hour. The menu offers a variety of choices. The Chicken Fajita cesadilla was my pick, and a great pick it was. Don’t pass this location by, stop in and see all the changes, you won’t be disappointed. Ryan you rock! Thank you for impeccable service. Happy holidays to you all!

I had not eaten at this place in a while. It had gone downhill a few years ago. The previous management didn’t give a crap about their food quality for a while. We found out they are under new management. The interior is pretty much the same. The menu has not changed much. The food is better now. The service was great! Our waiter was awesome! Very attentive. We didn’t have to want for anything.

Let’s just start out that this was our 2nd day here in Kansas after we just moved from Tulsa, OK.
Host who seated up was nice and waitress/bartender was quickly behind with chip and salsa, which seamed promising. The salsa was good with a little heat. Long story short management was sitting around complaining and being lazy, rolling eyes among other tasks that had to do. If they don’t care about their jobs, you know it’s most likely going to reflect in all aspects of the business.
We ordered our food, me just a simple chimichanga w/ rice & beans & my fiancé create your own big platter (you get a small taco, a taquito, 2 tiny triangles of a cheese quesadilla & 2 empanadas.
The food was so inedible!!!! His food was fried to a crisp and looked like it was fried on black dirty grease. He was only able to eat a taco and the quesadillas. The rest was not edible due to the fact of over frying it, it was rock hard left with no filling inside!!
I’ll just stop there and say don’t ever eat here!!!! Unless you want food poisoning!
That very evening my fiancé was violently puking all through the night and then was puking and diarrhea at the same time. He was clammy & sweaty and in so much pain then I he next hot with a fever and stomach pains.
I luckily never puked but still have the diarrhea and stomach cramps. It’s been miserable for the both of us! He’s been the miserable ☹️.
Sad thing is, in a way, the waitress/bartender warned us about the rice and beans and the food being “A lot better than it used to be!!!!” Like how is that possible?!!?

My mom & I came for lunch. Our waitress, Kathy, was phenomenal! She was helpful & friendly. I would definitely recommend requesting her table. The food was yummy. And I just love the decor as well. Mom had the fish tacos–her favorite! I had one of the bowls. Yum!

Had a great dinner here tonight. The food was very good and fresh. I really enjoyed the homemade tortillas that came with the fajitas. The white queso dip was so good we couldn’t stop eating it. Our server was super friendly and fast.

We catered for a Christmas party, everything was ready when we got there to pick it up. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The food was great. We had plenty of food, utensils, and everything we needed for the party. Great job, way to go! highly recommend!

One of the better dining options of the New Market Square area on Maize Road. When it comes to Tex-Mex food, On The Border is the most dependable in Wichita. I’ve had some outstanding meals and drinks here throughout the years, and my latest visit was for a fantastic curbside pickup. Fajitas-for-two was a game winner that came with tender and flavorful chicken and beef, along with tasty sides of rice and beans, and a serving of some incredible chips and salsa. Portions have shrunk and prices have shot up on these carryout orders, but the meal quality is still extremely good. My call to let them know of my arrival was met with rudeness unfortunately, and that attitude has been commonplace with the waitstaff with some of my dine in experiences here as well. However, I’ve had some excellent meals inside too, and typically seek out this restaurant when on the northwest side of Wichita. I recommend this OTB for some fine Mexican cuisine.

Just wanted to give a huge thanks to the restaurant for making it right with my to-go order. I got home to find the order wrong and called the manager and he said to come back and he would have the right order ready. I got to the restaurant and the manager was waiting on me to get there with my correct order and even threw in some extra stuff. Always loved this restaurant but now love it more. They turned a very frustrating experience into a very enjoyable one. Thank you so Much to all the employees and especially the manager.

Nice southwest style restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant staff. Menu has fewer choices than in the past, but still some good meal offerings. My meal was the, Carne Asada. Skirt steak with grilled vegetables and Spanish rice. I enjoyed it. Prices have gone up considerably. I will have to resist ordering their good margaritas in the future, as it plus a meal are just becoming too expensive.
