We stopped at The Old Bag of Nails Pub in Toledo for a quick lunch on a Sunday during the Browns game, and we had a very good experience. As we entered the small local pub, we were pleasantly surprised to find it in a nice complex with ample parking. Upon walking in, we noticed that this pub was one of the nicer ones we had been to—very clean, with a nice atmosphere, plenty of seating, and a good number of TVs.
We came for the food, not the drinks, and when we sat down, we were impressed by the variety of options on the menu. It was challenging to make a selection since everything sounded fantastic. We decided to start with the dill pickle spears, which my wife loved. I opted for the giant pretzel, which definitely hit the spot. Next time, I plan to try some of the other appetizers to see what they have to offer.
For our entrees, we considered options like seafood dishes, lobster rolls, ham-breaded chicken tenders, or one-pound burgers, all of which sounded wonderful. However, we both ended up choosing from the specials menu. My wife ordered the open-face meatloaf sandwich, which was a generous portion, well-cooked, and full of flavor. She even took some home as leftovers for the following day. I went with the two chicken-fried chicken breasts served over mashed potatoes with gravy, and it was exactly what I wanted. If I encountered that dish at another restaurant, I would definitely return just for it.
Unfortunately, it was a special, so I’ll have to try something else from the regular menu next time. They had a ton of different food options that sounded great. Overall, we would definitely go back. The service was good—quick and easy—and the pricing was reasonable. The location was also convenient for getting in and out.

Convenient parking & no wait on a Sunday afternoon. Excited to see the they had booths with TVs right in them to watch the game. Asked for one of those booths because 3 out of 6 of them were open but we were told “those are 6 tops and it’s a new rule we have to put 6 people in them or people get mad.” Noticed the other three booths only had two and three people seated at them. Then the host sat the next people there but they weren’t a group of 6 either
We got the mushrooms 7/10. Mushrooms were fresh but they were missing something. My husband said the burger was good and he’d come back for them. I got the fish sandwich. Fish was excellent but the bun was way too small for the big piece of fish so it was more like an open-faced sandwich. We both agreed the thin fries were nothing special. Had better fries at McDonald’s. The sherbet punch mocktail was to die for 10/10.

First time visiting and had the fish, shrimp and chips. Got much more than I anticipated, the files were a pretty good size. My girlfriend had a burger that she really enjoyed. Our server was super nice and on top of things.

1st time I’ve been here food was great. Great atmosphere we got a booth with a TV my son enjoyed watching sports on it. Server was nice didn’t have to ask for extra napkins for the kids. Lts of old local pictures. The app we got was kinda small but was eaten quickly so everyone loved the fish.

Every time I go I get the fish meal. It is so delicious. It was my turn to pick when we went out with my friends and they delivered on point. I told him how good the fish was. How big the fried mushrooms were and the fried pickles. And let’s not forget the onion rings. The amounts you get is amazing. I’ve never seen fried mushrooms as big as golf balls and they don’t disappoint. It was everything I told my friends from work. We were a table of seven! They said they will return some got burgers. Some got a wrap. Few of us got the fish. So delicious! Our waitress was amazing and so she got an amazing tip

Went with my husband for a belated Father’s Day celebration. Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our server, Hunter, was great. At our request, she made several very good suggestions that enhanced our meal. Food was very good. We got the battered mushrooms as an appetizer and the fish and chips as our entrees. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Because our appetizer came out very close to our dinner, we were given a free dessert—a huge piece of carrot cake that we took home for later. We live 92 miles east of the restaurant and were in Toledo to visit the National Museum of the Great Lakes which is less than a half mile away. If we lived closer this would definitely be on our frequently visited restaurant list.

Overall wonderful experience at the Old Bag of Nails Pub! Our first time visiting after having friends rave about the place. Most excited for the fish and chips and it was good! I was a little turned off from it because there was some raw batter in the middle of the fish itself but my boyfriend ate it anyway so he didn’t mind I loved my lobster rolls! I wish they weren’t just seasonal because I’d probably order them every time! There’s a certain fancy seafood restaurant across the street and their lobster rolls are nothing compared to the Old Bag of Nails! PS must get the bread pudding. Yummy!

First time customer; I will return! A friend of mine recommended we eat here before a show at the Huntington. Our group consisted of 4. Try the cheese curds as an appetizer…supreme! Have mentioned this joint to a few other people since my first visit. Spreading the news that The Old Bag of Nails Pub is a premium joint, with great vibes.

Everything was delivered hot and delicious! There was a light, crispy batter on the Kid Fish & Chips, and the same with the fried mushrooms. The Carrot Cake was not too sweet and seemed to be cooked with real ingredients, which I very much appreciate. The Shrimp & Chips, and the Philly Cheesecake meals were orders for others in the household, so I didn’t get to taste them, but they were also delivered hot and looked delicious!

This was our second trip here, and it won’t be our last. First off, the interior of the pub is warm, inviting, and open. Very comfortable setting. (Normally, I avoid anything with a lot of television screens, but when we asked for a booth that was not around one, we were easily accommodated.) We were greeted by a friendly hostess who smiled, and seemed very bubbly. Once seated, we were quickly approached by our server (Hunter) who greeted us like we were old friends catching up. She offered us beer, and we took soda as we were driving. She complimented our thoughtfulness. Having dined there just a couple of weeks ago, my companion and I knew what we wanted and made our order. We barely had time to settle before our dishes were being brought out to us. I had blackened shrimp tacos, and my co-diner had the Atlantic Reuben Sandwich. Holy smoke! Coming from California where you can not throw a rock without hitting a taco truck, these tacos knocked my socks off! Spicy, with a complex flavor. They were crazy good! I ordered three, but could easily have stuffed myself stupid on 10! If you have room, you simply have to get the bread pudding with the bourbon sauce. You know you are in trouble when you take a bite, and it gives you chills! This pub is very easily going to become our go-to spot when needing sea-food, or a good place to impress visitors to Toledo at the docks. A little gem of a place with a fantastic view.
