Came here for the lunch special. I enjoy their location being so convenient to where I live. The portions are a good size, and the lunch special is a great price for what you get. I got the brown stew chicken, cabbage, and rice & peas. I’ll be back when I need my Jamaican fix. Parking is right out front.

Genuinely if I could I would give NO STARS I would!!!
It’s so disappointing, seeing that I used to come here a lot due to working down the street. But come to think about it now I could throw up.
I’m no longer in the area, but on Saturday January 31st. I passing through and road past the restaurant. I said to myself, I’m going to make it my mission to grab a plate before leaving that side of town.
I so happened to their last customer because they were closing early due to the weather, it was snowing. Although I felt a little rushed. The young lady took my order, which was a small jerk chicken plate. In which I was told, they will no longer have mac & cheese and to my understanding vegetables as well. So I ended up with extra rice and peas and just jerk chicken and was charged the full plate. My food was brought to me by an older woman with gray short hair and she was short.
I get home and open the plate. The food looks ok/eatable at the time. I go to bite into a plantain, but unfortunately was not able due to it being hard. Into my second bite of food. I noticed something shiny and white on my spoon. Seeing how I’m Jamaican and we use a lot of herbs and spices I didn’t think anything of it.
But something told me to pull it out before taking another bite. Sure enough it was a gray/white short strand of hair. I immediately ran to the bathroom and tried to make myself vomit. Sorry TMI!!!
Once I was able to get back to the plate. I took a more thorough look. Just find another piece of short gray/white hair. Clearly two different sizes, pieces of hair.
At this point, I’m disappointed and disgusted all at the same time.
Knowing most Jamaican places are closed on Sundays in the US. I went ahead and took a picture of the receipt food in Hear fount and proceeded to throw the food away. Seeing I was not planning on returning to that side of town yet along that restaurant. I had to wait to call Monday, which is today, for a refund.
The lady who answered the phone sounded like the same lady who handed me my food with the short gray hair. Which I thought was good because it would make more sense speaking to her. But clearly not I was yelled at and accused of possibly putting gray hair in my $13 plate of food and that my pictures does not matter. Which I thought was wild, seeing she has gray hair, but clearly did not want to admit. If you ever got food here, I’m pretty sure you would recognize their jerk chicken and the black to-go containers. As well as the side of sauce.

Personally, they can keep the measly $13 they clearly need it to buy hairnet and gloves.
This establishment probably would not even pass a health check, come to think of it. No one deserves to pay, with their hard earned money for a plate of hair.

DON’T LET THOSE DARK SAUCES, FOOL YOU!!! PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD!!!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE. IT IS A HEALTH HAZARD THAT IS CLEARLY NOT TAKEN SERIOUS!

Great service just took a while but the food isnt authentic at all. Didn’t like the flavor of the meat didn’t taste like stew meat. No flavor!! I had to dig the plate out the trash to take a pic. For $5.99 I guess you get what you pay for ‍♀️

Large chicken plate with macaroni and cheese, rice with chicken curry, plantains. Came out to around 23 dollars. Chicken was great. Rice was great. Should have gotten more than light chicken curry tbh. Cabbage was good, still had it’s form. I don’t like plantains so I don’t know what is good or bad. The macaroni was kind of meh. I’d say it was good enough to good.

I use to love this place a few years ago. However, the last few times I had jerk wings that were over cooked and the ribs were hard on the ends. Although the flavor is amazing I just wish they had better customer service to support someone that spends 50 dollars at their establishment. Oh and my chicken Pattie was old and so crispy on the outside that I had to peel it off. I was disappointed.☹️

I really respect this place for keeping their lunch special at 4.99 in 2023 even though everyone is raising their prices and blaming inflation (the ingredients themselves aren’t 200% more expensive!)
That is a smart move that keeps this place busy. However they could put less salt and more spice in their jerk chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail gravy. Tastes like they’re covering up old chicken by putting so much salt in there. And I’ve had so much better cabbage, sorry but this tasted like nothing.
The chicken curry patty was A+ though.
3 stars because you still can’t beat the price. If they adjusted their recipes they could be great.

It was my first time visiting and I must say that I will be going back a lot more because I am sold on their ideas and experience. It was refreshing. Social distancing at its best and all was well. The place is neat. The food was delicious and you have a variety of beverages to chose from. As most Caribbean food place, know what you are ordering before you step in line. If you don’t, don’t take their response personal. Just trying to serve the next person especially if there is a long line.
