Our first time here was a great experience. Cozy seats, pleasant casual atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. I especially loved the collard greens, the broth was very flavorful and a little spicy. Their BBQ sauce is on the tomato/vinegar side and it was great with their tender pulled pork. The photo shows their “sack lunch” deal for only $10. So nice to have another sit down lunch/dinner option when we visit the area.

My new favorite go to location for BBQ in Alabaster. Fresh flavorful BBQ just like daddy’s and piled high on the bun. Turnip greens and blacked eyed peas were so good. Alabama white sauce and regular BBQ sauce on the side. Staff is super friendly and welcoming.

We were driving through Alabama and decided to try some BBQ. I saw this on the map and said let’s stop and try it. I’m so glad we did because all the food was delicious. The Mac n cheese was some of the best I’ve ever had. The chopped pork sandwich was so yummy. I really loved the black eyed peas, smokey, meaty, juicy and so full of flavor. The staff was very kind and helpful. The prices are super nice and reasonable. It’s set inside a multi-business building so we did need to be told where to go. That being said, there’s plenty of room inside for a small crowd to enjoy delicious food. This place honestly deserves its own building. If you ever travel to Alabama or drive through Alabaster, please do yourselves a favor and stop in to try this places food. You won’t regret it. Oh and why not get some food to go while your there cuz your totally going to want to share with friends.

Ribs were good and both the red and white sauce is delicious. I prefer spare ribs but they only had St. Louis style. They had a good taste but didn’t blow me away. The wings were not my favorite, they were soft/mushy and just didn’t do it for me. I did really like their white sauce, it had a lot of flavor. The service was stellar and it looked like a cool place. And I fully support and love their mission of peace and love. I will return to try some other things and I would encourage folks to support this business.

I had the BBQ pork plate and my girlfriend had the rib plate, and both were really good. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and the pork had a nice smoky taste. The portions were solid too.

The atmosphere was laid-back with good music that made it an easy place to relax and enjoy the meal.

Overall, a great spot for good BBQ and a comfortable vibe.

Oh my goodness! We came falling inside the door practically, it was 20° with a wind chill of 6° an uncomfortable cold out. We were immediately greeted by a toasty, warm atmosphere, and the heavenly smell of REAL bbq! I ordered the Backyard burger with Mac n cheese and bbq beans- sooo wonderful- that burger was HUGE and I was only able to eat half of my order, which the rest I either shared with husband or took home to our son. My hubby ordered a little of everything- smoked chicken, which I sampled a bite and this will be my healthy order next time! He also had some short ribs, and Brunswick stew, which I also sampled and ordered a take home for me today.

The service was so friendly and so welcome- I forgot how cold it was outside. Thank you for being here- what an asset to our community that we are fortunate to have!

Went for the first time Friday 12/12/25 for takeout. I went for the brisket which is only available Friday and Saturday. It is in a strip with other businesses but not hard to find-just look for the hickory smoke! Very friendly people, relaxed casual and welcoming atmosphere. Brisket was succulent and delicious. Came with 2 types of sauce. Looking forward to going back soon. Call ahead if you want brisket-the first weekend I called they had already run out so it must be a hot item!

Brother Paul’s bbq is now open in alabaster on 31 right before 119 and the train tracks. Paul Curcio used to own golden rule bbq in Pelham. Now he is here in alabaster. We just left and I’m so happy he’s back. He makes the best bbq around. I just had a bbq sandwich and 2 ribs. The ribs were the best I’ve ever had. The most tender smoky flavor , easy to bite off the bone but not all fatty and too smoky. Look at the picture of the grill full of meat ! They were perfect , the bbq was a cross between sliced and chopped but bigger meatier chunks which I like. The rib sauce had a slight kick to it. I got baked beans which I really don’t like but Paul’s has a less sweeter taste. Kind of a meaty taste. They were fabulous. My wife had a jumbo bbq sandwich and Mac and cheese and black eyed peas which she said was excellent. I can’t wait to go back. Now he’s going to start smoking briskets on Friday’s and Saturdays , Try it if you never have or if you miss the old business he’s back better than ever !

Red sauce drips off the grilled chicken catching on the tray beneath it. Steam rises from the green beans and black eyed peas. John Denver’s “Country Road” is playing softly through the speakers while a box fan is blowing air throughout the little BBQ cafe.

I can see storm clouds gathering outside the large floor-to-ceiling windows. And yet, the people keep stepping inside the creaking front door for pork sandwiches or a serving of their delicious banana pudding.

A train track is situated behind the building giving a whistle stop cafe vibe, minus the fried green tomatoes.
Paul, the owner, greets all the customers one at a time, asking if anything is needed, thanking a veteran, and just welcoming everyone into the space. Inviting them to sit and stay a while. To enjoy a break from the Alabama heat while sipping on iced sweet tea in authentic southern style.
