Stepping into Aixois French Bistro is less like entering a restaurant and more like being enveloped in the genuine, friendly warmth of a cherished family home. The atmosphere is immediately inviting, buzzing with easy chatter and a palpable sense of community—a truly delightful escape from the day-to-day.
Our morning began with the legendary E-Breakfast, a dish that elevates brunch from a simple meal to an act of culinary poetry. The smoked salmon, silken and subtly salty, played a magnificent counterpoint to the rich, creamy avocado. But the true genius lay in the egg: cooked impeccably over medium, its golden yolk flowed out with luxurious ease, binding the ingredients together in a flawless harmony.
Served alongside this composition were the potatoes, and here is where Aixois demonstrates its mastery of the details: the accompanying shoestring fries are nothing short of architectural perfection. Crispy, golden, and impossibly thin, each slender strand shatters with a satisfying crunch, making them perhaps the most perfect pommes frites I have encountered. They were seasoned flawlessly, providing a salty, savory anchor to the richness of the plate.
To conclude, we drifted toward the unexpected: the prickly pear sorbet with fresh berries. This was a revelation—light, beautifully refreshing, and carrying a delicate sweetness that cleansed the palate without weighing it down. It was sunshine in a bowl.
Capping off this perfect feast was the sophisticated pairing of a Non-alcoholic wine. This thoughtful touch provided the perfect effervescent finish, proving that a sublime dining experience requires attention to detail at every step, from the first bite of salmon to the final, celebratory sip. Aixois doesn’t just serve food; it serves perfection.
Called before booking to ensure there were gluten free options on the restaurant week menu, confirmed and booked with a note for a high chair.
No high chair when we arrived, the host said she would get one when she sat us, then walked past us several times and we had to ask again to get one.
When asked about the restaurant week menu and gluten free options, the server made several suggestions which made it clear she thought gluten was dairy (you can have the soup without the cheese, etc). When I clarified that I can’t have wheat, she suggested the salad and the fish special as the only two options, and confirmed that the fish was gluten free if it did not come with the couscous listed on the menu.
The man who delivered our main courses gave me a plate with couscous. I told him I was afraid I needed the gluten free version, and he said it was all gluten free. I asked what the couscous was made of (it’s rolled wheat by definition), he said he would check. He returned with the same plate and again insisted that it was all gluten free. I asked if I could see the ingredients of the packaging, talk to a manager to confirm, etc as I’m allergic to wheat and will be unwell if I eat it. He said there was no manager available but took the plate back to the kitchen.
He eventually brought me a new plate with the couscous removed (but no replacement item as discussed with the server). I ate part of the fish before another server stopped me and asked if I knew the fish was dredged in flour, he thought he heard me tell my server that I was allergic. We were again told there was no manager available.
We did not see our server except to order and pay. When we told her about the allergy issue she just said “oh, that’s not good.”
Terrible service. Terrible management who clearly does not train their staff and is not available to staff or guests during a weekend lunch rush. I will absolutely be speaking to the health department about the clear lack of state required training on allergies. It is not an unfortunate accident for multiple staff to be uneducated about ingredients.
The area seemed busy, but we were lucky there was 1 spot available for parking right in front of the restaurant.
We walked in, and the hostess asked if we wanted seated outside, inside, or the bar. We asked to sit inside and were escorted to the far back corner.
The restaurant was maybe at 25% capacity for a Tuesday night. We arrived around 8 pm. Our server greeted us, Paul was friendly and asked if it was a special occasion. I replied that the occasion was that I was hungry.
Paul helped us pick our meals as we’d never been here before.
I got up to check out the restaurant as we waited for our meal. Paul directed me to the front where there was a really awesome room that was reserved for overflow when busy or reserved for occasions.
I was still looking at all the cool stuff when Paul was standing with our food, so we hurried back to our table.
The food looked marvelous! The French bread was pretty much the same as the bread I had in Paris. The burger was pretty identical to a burger I had in Paris, and the fries definitely reminded me of the fries I had in Paris.
I was very impressed with Aixois.
I definitely recommend stopping by.
Sunday brunch all day here is the only thing keeping me tethered to reality. This place is dangerously cheery—the kind of French aesthetic that makes a goth sneeze but I’m willing to overlook the sunshine for the menu.
It’s the perfect spot for when you finally decide to wake up at the crack of noon and realize the world expects you to be productive. Jokes on them; I’m having a cheeseburger and deviled eggs for dinner. The eggs were sinisterly good, and the burger actually made me feel a spark of joy. It was honestly disgusting. I’ll be back next to suffer through another delicious meal in this relentless optimism late at night.
