Hill-Bert’s Burgers began in 1973 when a University of Texas student decided to make the best burger in Austin. That was our dad.

I moved to Kyle a while back, but I still think about Hilbert’s all the time! It’s seriously one of my favorite spots in Austin. I called in my order today and while waiting in the lobby, the staff reminded me exactly why I keep coming back. They’re always polite, friendly, and address you by name, which makes it feel so personal and genuine.

While we were waiting and shivering a bit, one of the workers noticed right away and said, “Are y’all cold?” Then he turned the air down and added, “No suffering here at Hilbert’s!” That small moment says everything about their customer service, they truly care about people.

The hot wings and Kool-Aid are always on point, but it’s the warmth and hospitality that make this place special. If you want that old-school Austin kindness with food that hits every time, Hilbert’s on Cameron Road is it!

No frills, old school mom & pop burger joint. I haven’t been able to find good chilli cheese burger and fries joint in Austin until today. Not a a huge menu but not small either.

Excartly what I wanted!!! Food was Good! I was in the shopping center nearby and checked GPS to see what food was nearby, saw this place, to be honest, I was hesitant to try it because of the location and some photos, but the reviews were great. I am always on the hunt for great hole-in-the-wall / mom-and-pop spots. I got the Double Cheese Burger, 9 piece medium wings and some chili cheese fries. The burger is 100% on point! Great burger especially for the price. The wings are home style and delicious! If you like Buffalo sauce, you will like these!
The chili cheese fries were exactly what I wanted, lots of chili onto of fries. Again pricing was great for quality and amount of food.
Food 10/10
Staff is very nice and friendly, the reviews were not lying. They are welcoming lovely to talk to. And the wait is very small, perfect for grab and go.
Service 10/10
Don’t let the location or appearance detour you.
I wish this was in my neighborhood.

Best hole in the wall burger joint out there. Good ol charboiled hamburgers and the wings are delicious usually grab me a 12 pc wing which is just enough to fix that appetite if I’m really hungry ill throw in one of their burgers. Along with a side of kool-aid to wash it all down.

Stopped in on a whim simply bc it had good reviews and easy parking. Wow! What an amazing little spot! It’s giving down home old fashioned burgers and fries. They even have kool-aid (something I haven’t had since childhood)! Great prices, friendly staff and great vibes. Will return next time we are in town!

I stopped at this place completely randomly, typed “food” into Google maps and exited to a place right near the highway.

I noticed from the reviews the Wings seemed to be the popular item, but despite this I ordered the hamburger. I mean hamburgers are in the name of the place. The cashier told me the onion rings were good, so I grabbed an order of those as well, and took a seat. I noticed a sign advertising that they had been in business 35 years.

A few minutes went by, several people came and went, picking up and placing orders, (most of them for wings) and my burger and onion rings came out.

The Burger
The burger was very much like a Whopper Burger from Burger King. The mayo and onion had the same flavor, the meat patty had a flame broiled flavor on the outer edge, and the bun was very similar as well. As far as size goes, the burger wasnt huge, but extra meat was only about 60 cents. There was also a steak burger option for not much more.

Onion Rings
The onion rings were very wide, the batter was crispy, the portion was large, and they had a good flavor. Im not sure if it was beer batter, but it was very similar, with the addition of a little bit of a sour flavor that wasn’t bad, but was different, it could have been lemon. Im not sure.

Other Menu Items
I noticed some random items on the menu as well. Cold cut sandwiches, crispy tacos, broiled or fried chicken, cheese sticks, and frito pie.

Service
Service was decently good, the cashier was friendly, spoke with all the customers, spoke Spanish and English. There was no table service, but the restaurant was clean inside.

Value
I felt the prices were a bit high. The burger was pretty basic for $5.60, the meat portion was a bit on the small side, the flavor was decent, but not different enough to bring me back. Combo’s made the meal slightly more affordable, but a basic no-cheese burger with a regular size onion ring, and a coke was $10.50. I saw a family order of Wings, 24 wings, 2 orders or fries or rings, and a 2L of Coke for $31.50 Which seemed like a decent deal for wings.

Overall Impression
I’d visit again to try the wings, but wouldnt go back specifically for the burger over just going to Burger King. The onion rings were good, but not good enough to bring me back, even as a quick exit when passing.

Went there based on other reviews. Ordered a hamburger with fries and soda at the drive thru. Customer service was spot on and the food was hot and flavorful. Will need to visit again the next time I’m in town to try the wings.

It’s been a long time since I’ve dined at Hillberts, but due to businesses still closing early i decided to check them out. I wanted some chili cheese fries and was not disappointed. The chili is mild but has flavor and they are generous with the portion. My order hit the spot. The burger was okay. Next time a chili cheese fry craving hits I’ll definitely return here for them. The staff was friendly and my food was hot and fresh.

The service seemed ok. The food was wasn’t good at all. It was less than tolerable. I had a pick up order so I didn’t dine in but the place seemed clean but rather empty. The burger was stale and while I’ve never eaten wallpaper paste, I’m almost sure I tasted it that day. My friend ordered a turkey sandwich and showed me the meat on it. It looked gray and she said it tasted rather industrial. Maybe I went at a bad time of the day (although it was lunchtime) but I have a feeling the food quality on better days probably isn’t much better. I’m glad others had a better experience with their reviews. Maybe I missed something.

Awesome little spot, Christina one of the owners was so friendly and knew a bunch of her regulars by name, and chatted with us.

Bacon burgers were awesome, great flavor, real bacon! The onion rings are hand battered and crispy, super good, and the milkshake was all real ingredients and you could taste it! This place is a gem and reminiscent to me of old Austin favorites of mine. Definitely recommended, we’ll be back to try the wings, a lot of people in there were eating them.
