Social Profile:

The concept of Aunt Maude’s was created on a Sunday morning in 1975 over a few Bloody Mary’s. Although Aunt Maude the person is mythical, we cherish the ideals of her with our casual, personal style, superb service, and excellent cuisine. Carrying on those ideals are what we are passionate about.

Genteel setting for locally sourced, modern American cuisine paired with wines from a sizable list.

Aunt Maude’s is a great place to dine. My fiancée and I came here for the first time and happened to stop by during a special week where they had a tasting menu. We got to talk to the chef, Steve, and he was so wonderful and helpful. The food was fantastic and the tasting menu was very creative and unique. My partner got the burger and he said it was fantastic. Our server, Kayley, was very attentive and helpful.
Highly recommended!

First time visit, in town for work. Was referred by a friend. Turned out to be a great little restaurant. Had the truffle fries, salads, prime rib, friends had carbonara, and tri-tip steak. The pics will speak for themselves. The food and service was great. $266 for 4 people

I walked into Aunt Maude’s and was seated immediately at the bar. I started with a beer, and right away, I could tell this place is a local favorite—there was a fun, lively vibe, and everyone seemed to know each other. The ambience feels like a cozy, upscale pub with a warm atmosphere and comfortable seating.

I ordered the chicken breast dinner with basmati rice, and it was quite tasty and well-prepared. The service was spot-on, friendly, and attentive without being rushed. I also noticed the wagyu meatballs on the menu, which caught my eye—I’ll definitely be back to try those next time.

Located right in downtown Ames, Aunt Maude’s is a great place to enjoy good food, relax at the bar, or sit outside on a nice day. After dinner, it’s perfect for a leisurely walk through downtown to soak in the local energy.

Highly recommend if you’re in Ames and want a great meal in a lively, welcoming setting.

Came in a second time and it was even better

I had a really nice time at Aunt Maude’s — it’s such a cool and welcoming place. I was here with my wife and my son, and we all loved the food. I ordered the Wagyu meatballs, which were incredibly tasty and full of flavor. My son had the salmon with basmati rice and vegetables, and everything on his plate was perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife ordered the chili and spring rolls, and both were excellent.

We also got the homemade cookies to go, and they were an awesome way to end the meal. The ambience was cozy and inviting, and the service was absolutely stellar. From the moment we walked in, we were seated right away and really well taken care of. Our server was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and professional.

Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. I’d highly recommend Aunt Maude’s if you’re in Ames!

starting my Iowa list for places to visit again. Amy was great, and the food was delicious. need to try their other dishes.

The truffle fries could have been a meal on it’s own. very generous portion and satisfyingly crispy.

The prime rib was tender, with the mashed potatoes and the corn. can only imagine what the tri tip would be like.

Lastly, the lemon pound cake with vanilla ice cream. great way to finish off the dinner.

The visit to Iowa was too short, but i do know of at least one place to return to, when i come back.

oh, and did i mention that our server Amy was great?

may change, but don’t mind the meters after 6p

Had dinner here for the first time tonight. Jill, our server (still in training) was AWESOME! The food was beyond expectations, drinks were perfect, the ambiance was incredible for a date night but not pretentious. We left 2 hours ago and we are still talking about how amazing the experience and food was. 10/10 we will be back!

We went for our first time tonight. Everything we had was top notch. One of the best Caesar salads I’ve ever had, done old school, how it should be. The grilled brie was amazing. My wife had the turkey chili and blackened chicken angel hair, I had the prime rib. Probably the best meal we’ve had in Ames yet. We will definitely be back!

Co-worker came here for his 21st anniversary and immediately recommended the place to me. So glad he did as my family is new to the Ames area. This is hands down, one of the best places I’ve been to in a long time. I had the grilled flat iron steak and it was mind blowing good. I will be a repeat customer for that meal alone. I highly recommend this option for anyone that goes. Staff was amazing and friendly from when we first arrived, seated, served, until we left. Desert there was also great! So glad we came here and found our go to spot for a great dinner!

Came in shortly after opening on Saturday night and we were seated right away.
The ambiance was warm and inviting and the service was outstanding. Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly, from the hostess to the gentleman that brought us our food, and especially our waiter, Jeffrey, who was attentive and welcoming.
We ordered the lamb and the Tri-Tip dishes and they were both fantastic.
This is a great little place in Ames and we will definitely return.

I ordered the grilled pork loin and it was really delicious. Had a perfect cook on it, medium with a slightly pinkish center, and super tender. The sides also complimented the main entree very well. Only critique I’d have is to have more of the poblano sauce so it cuts through the richness of the pork.

Atmosphere was good but wish there was more lighting or something to make it feel more homey like the restaurant’s name would suggest.

Service was pretty good as well, we got our table quick & our waitress was nice.

Overall nice place to dine out for a date night, with a friend, family, or even as a business casual eat out. Highly recommend, definitely one of the best restaurants you’ll find in Ames.

What a great find in Ames! Quaint place that is very popular. Celebrated two birthdays there- party of 3 in June (walk-in) and party of 7 in September (reservations). Both times we had servers that were attentive but not intrusive and so accommodating. Loved that we could bring in our own bottle of wine at no charge to celebrate the special occasion but feel the $20 charge for any after that is a bit steep. Highly recommend features and entrees for supper. Loved both salmon options, pasta, and steak options. One thing I would suggest is some sort of bread and butter service while waiting on the meal. It is, after all, Iowa.
