One of my rare 5 scores. I will be honest, I did not have high expectations going in. I’ve been to LOTS of “Mexican” restaurants and taquerias over the years.
On day one, I got the Chile Verde and Chile Colorado guisados with rice and beans. All was perfect ! Just like Mom made (sorry Mom). Along with homemade corn tortillas!
Next day we returned for breakfast and I got 2 chorizo and papas flour tortilla tacos. Again perfect. The red and green sauce are both delicious!!!
Both days the owner Greg came by our table and talked story with us. What a wonderful man of God with a wonderful place !!
You have to come visit. Not only for the truly authentic delicious food but to support!!

We have been going to the taco shop since it opened and have been regulars for breakfast. Their menudo is one of the best I’ve had. Their tacos are great and my favorite is the barbacoa. They owner is often there stopping by and greeting guests. The workers are very hard working and I have always had a great experience both with quality of food and service.

Fantastic tacos. Friendly faces make you feel at home. Young man named Jack helped us. He gave us samples of ALL the meat…….a whole plate full of meat actually. I almost filled up on the samples. Lol Tortillas are made right in front of you. Rice is magnificent. Seasoning used in meats was incredible. I’m ready to go back as soon as I can. AND the price of the food is super cheap. A real deal for the quality of food.

What an absolute GEM hidden away in the back of Kingwood.
This place has some of the best TACOS I’ve ever had in my life.
It’s not all things Mexican Food .. it’s a specialty taco shop.
They make the tortillas from masa, right there custom for each order.
No burritos, or chips and salsa.
It’s totally worth the drive from just about anywhere to enjoy the casual dining experience.
The decor is pretty eclectic, with lots of flags on the walls .. mostly from the different branches of the military.
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, .. so patriotic!! But not in a cheesey way. .. Very genuine support.
It’s not a hight budget restaurant, . So feel free to wear shorts and a T-shirt.
In fact, .. wear something that you wouldn’t mind getting some taco juice on. … ( The tacos are juicy )
My overall impression of Kingwood Taco Shop is it’s the kind of place I will be visiting VERY OFTEN!!
The flavors are very authentic, ..the service is very good, .. the owner walks around to makes sure that his customers are happy and feel important, .. since they are truly the lifeline of any business.

I just left this place and OH MY GOD, I will never eat at another taco spot ever again in my life other than this place! The service was friendly and attentive! The food was astronomically mind blowing!!! I was so skeptical at first, being a first timer. But, the staff made me feel right at home by giving me a little sample of everything. After that I was hooked!! I knew exactly what I wanted. It definitely helped in my decision making. I highly recommend Kingwood Taco Shop if you’re looking for the best tacos on planet earth. You can thank me later.

Great spot. Homemade tortillas are INCREDIBLE. Little bit of everything from bacon egg and cheese breakfast tacos to traditional Mexican classics like pazole and menudo. Everyone is very friendly and the place is clean. I will be back

Had the best experience here this morning!! They gave us a plate to try things before ordering- everything was DELICIOUS! Service was outstanding and food is super fresh, you can tell it’s made with love! Highly recommend, everyone there is so hospitable.

We stopped by the new Kingwood Taco Shop on Mills branch in the back of Kingwood. It’s right next door to a Subway and a Montessori School. Met the owner and some of the staff and they were all wonderfully friendly. They have very tasty fluffy corn tortillas and maybe five or six different kinds of meat. They gave us tastes of it all and talk to us about what it was. The food was very tasty. It is all made fresh daily with no leftovers from the day before. Even the tortillas are made fresh every morning. We went for lunch but we will be going back for breakfast. On a side note it is bigger on the inside than it looks like from the outside. It would be a great place to bring a group of your friends. Highly recommended.
