Fantastic food, & prices are even better. Landscaping could use some work but server was very friendly, food came out quick, and very family friendly. Highly recommend this place. It’s a hidden gem in today’s market. They offer a little bit of everything. Their breakfast menu is also amazing.

This is my favorite breakfast spot and a regular place for my family to meet. My favorite thing about it is the wide open space, the fact that you never feel rushed here, and the generous portions. Also, it’s reasonably priced.
I always order the Greek omlette with hash browns and biscuits with coffee. It’s enough of a portion size to only eat half for me. It’s yummy and I almost never branch out from this selection. My grandsons ordered chocolate chip waffles and pancakes. They are allergic to food dye and these items (including the syrup) are dye free. They so enjoyed the food.
The staff has long retention as we see the same wait staff over many years. They are patient with children, very attentive and personable.
I miss the pond and the ducks that they used to maintain for our viewing pleasure. It made a spectacle to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoyed visit over the meal.
They have a large mural and a fountain in which the kids enjoy throwing my change.
We will keep coming back as long as they remain a Matthews staple.

I don’t have a lot to say about Jonathan’s, the outside needs a makeover really badly it just looks dirty and unkept. The inside could use an update as well I know it’s an older restaurant but actually looking old isn’t helping them get business. It’s right across from one if the busiest shopping spots in Matthews but I would drive right by it and not even know it was a restaurant. The food is ok I had the Western omelette and Hash browns which were cold. My mom got a vegetable plate and a salad which they brought at the same time as the hot food. Over all the whole experience was mediocre even the service was just ok.

We have been searching for a great breakfast place after being frustrated at the rising prices with poor quality at other places. We absolutely loved our experience at Jonathan‘s. The food was incredibly delicious. Amazing buttery hashbrowns. My steak omelette special was incredible. The chocolate chip pancakes my children were cooked to perfection. The price is right and there’s plenty of tables so you don’t wait long! Definitely am obsessed with this hidden gem. Go here!!!!

I recently dined at Jonathan’s Restaurant for a late lunch. I wasn’t in the mood for the daily specials, so I decided on the Baked Lasagna. I ordered a garden salad and broccoli as my sides. About the postives, the salad was fresh and included a nice ripe tomato slice and cucumber. Also, the Greek salad dressing was especially good! I think the broccoli was perhaps grilled, not sure, and it was delicious! It was also cooked to my preference for doneness.
For the negative, the Baked Lasagna was awful. The pasta portion was meager and overly limp. There was NO filling or meat sauce. The pasta sat in a pool of what tasted more like tomato soup. There was a generous amount of mozzarella cheese, which I guess was to make up for what was sorely lacking, but it was just a gooey mess. I can’t really believe they sent that dish out.
Having said that, I would go back again…the tasty side dishes give me hope. Perhaps it was on off day. Regardless, I won’t be ordering the Baked Lasagna again.
