I came to Hillstone with my family during our time shopping at Bal Harbour Shops! Right away, I loved the airiness and ambience of the environment! I wish we had restaurants with this vibe in Atlanta. We are vegetarian and found the options really tasty! The Spinach & Artichoke Dip appetizer was SO GOOD! My family ordered a variety of dishes which included Broccoli with Reggiano, Coleslaw, some type of bowl, and one other dish. I can’t recall a few of the specific dish names, but they enjoyed it! We all also ordered the House-Made Veggie Burger and it was DELICIOUS! It was on of the best veggie burgers we’ve had at a restaurant! So so yummy! The presentation of all the dishes were lovely. I unfortunately don’t remember our server’s name, but she was so kind and patient while we decided what we wanted! I’m looking forward to returning on our next trip to Miami.

Uppity and genuinely unpleasant experience. We were asked to have a guest remove his hat right off the bat—absurd for a restaurant that isn’t nearly good enough to justify any dress code, but just to set the tone…
Service was among the worst I’ve experienced. Four people ordered drinks and we all asked for water; two glasses arrived, just 2. After asking twice more, it still took over 20 minutes to get the remaining two glasses. They were refilled where convenient, once, empty rest of the night, and the size of a Dixie cup. Drink orders: one arrived after apps, drink order 2 sat at the bar for roughly 15 minutes without delivery. When we attempted to retrieve them ourselves as we could see them at the bar, we were told we couldn’t take them. Only after the manager intervened did the drinks finally arrive.
From the start of her poor efforts, the server was clearly trying to rush / turn the table. Several of us have years of restaurant experience, and the lack of attentiveness and basic hospitality was obvious and entirely off-putting. If she was inexperienced, she shouldn’t have been at this place. If she was experienced, that’s worse—there was zero tact and less customer awareness or attentiveness. The attitude felt performative, as if “Bal Harbour snootiness” was part of the role. It didn’t land.
Management was good, and the young men did attempt damage control, effectively but a bit too late, which is the only positive note. The compped drinks didn’t redeem the experience: the dirty martini arrived without olive juice; when requested it to be corrected, a weak side of olive juice was brought instead. Make it right maybe??
I wouldn’t return under any circumstances. Beyond the restaurant, the general vibe of the area was cold and judgmental—people there were more interested in posturing, wearing all black, gray or white, looking down their nose at passers by
..so weird to see a culture of that other than being out enjoying themselves. Money without warmth is just gross noise, no where on the area exuded such stark judgy nonsensical and patently uncool atmosphere. This place, and the surrounding scene, left no impression other than superficial and joyless. Hard pass. These Bal Harbor people have found a way to collectively put off a vibe that just sucks. Food was fine, actually sushi was way better than expected, and French dip was amazing. Lots to work on otherwise, but had to add that…

Everything was perfect. We came in gave our name and were waiting and decided to sit at the bar. The Chimay on draft was a treat. We had deviled eggs for an app. Ordered the beef ribs and yellowtail salad

My family and I are fans of this chain having enjoyed meals in NYC and LA. This Miami location is decent but not a good the other restaurant. To their credit, they listened to our concerns and made things right at the end which is the right way to handle criticism. Excited to try this location again in the future.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was unpleasant. We were served a visibly dirty glass. We called the manager, but at first he didn’t even notice that the glass was dirty. Only after we asked him to look more carefully did he acknowledge the issue and take the glass away. There was no apology, which was very disappointing.

Later, another glass was brought, but it was also not properly clean. In addition, the plates we were served on were wet and visibly worn, which raised serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness.

This level of hygiene and customer service is unacceptable. The restaurant should pay much more attention to cleanliness and basic service standards.

This place is usually full with a waiting time for walk ins, but not today. Very inconsistent with the sprite, some days you have it and most days you don’t. Not many people drink ginger ale to say the least. The shrimp cocktail was very disappointing it still had the intestinal tract.the chicken sandwich was subpar, cheese was not melted. I see why this place is dead. The staff used to work as a team as a whole restaurant. Now the staff walks past you doesn’t clear the plates or help in assisting to pay. Don’t recommend

Honestly, I’m not sure why some of the lower reviews are there, we came in today for lunch with our family and friends and had a great experience. We had a small issue with our reservation and couldn’t fix it through the website, but as soon as we arrived, the hostess (a really sweet young lady) took care of everything right away. Our group ended up being bigger than originally booked, and she still accommodated us with no problem. We waited maybe 10 minutes at most before being seated, even though it was pretty busy at the time. She was warm and very friendly and made the whole situation feel easy. The food was absolutely delicious and came out quickly. Our server was on top of everything. Everything tasted fresh, and the service overall was attentive without being overwhelming. We enjoyed it so much that our friends made another reservation before we even left. Definitely coming back!

Discriminatory and humiliating experience.

had a deeply uncomfortable and unacceptable experience at this restaurant.

I entered with my legally protected service dog, which Florida law and the ADA clearly allow in restaurants. At one point, my dog needed water. I was given a disposable box by staff, filled it with my own water, and quietly let my service dog drink next to me. There was no mess, no disruption, and no health issue.

When the manager noticed it was for a dog, I was told to stop immediately, throw the box away, and was given an ultimatum: leave the restaurant or stop giving my service animal water.

This was humiliating, unnecessary, and discriminatory.

The law does not require restaurants to provide water for service animals — but it also does not prohibit owners from caring for their service animals themselves. Threatening removal simply because a service dog drinks water is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of understanding of disability rights.

If you or someone you care about relies on a service animal, be aware: you may not be treated with dignity or basic human decency here.

I will not be returning, and I strongly discourage others from supporting a business that treats service animals this way.

Hillstone in Miami is absolutely fantastic. We ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, the Rainbow Roll, and the USDA Prime Filet — and every single dish was incredible. The filet was cooked to perfection and with french fries by the side, while the sushi roll was fresh and tasty. The spinach dip was the perfect starter — creamy, rich, and delicious, definitely will order again.

The service is attentive, professional, and genuinely warm.

The atmosphere is perfect for a date night – soft lighting, romantic vibe, and just the right level of background noise. It strikes that balance between upscale and cozy. Highly recommend for a special evening out!

Spent the day at the beach and then decided to meet some friend for dinner at Hillstone. We arrived early so went to the bar for a drink and appetizers. We had some bread, spinach dip and old fashioned. The bread was so good!!!! For dinner I had the little bird and was equally as good. Service staff was friendly and helpful in making selections.
