We popped in for a late lunch our first night in Charleston. We had a phenomenal experience, the food was so fresh and tasty and some of the best cuisine we’ve had in a very long time! We got the lamb shank, lamb tenderloin, and branzino. The staff was so warm and welcoming! The chef was very passionate, warm, and knowledgeable, she paid attention to every detail in everything that she made. The chef recommended some of their desserts and everything was delicious. The pistachio icecream was homemade and so good! We had to come back before leaving Charleston and the entire experience was 10/10!

We visited this restaurant for the first time last night, around 8:00 PM, right in the heart of King Street, surprisingly, we were the only guests at that time.

The menu prices were on the higher side, but I was willing to give it a try, expecting the quality and portions to match. The dish I ordered came with French fries and a few pieces of beef. The meat was cooked well and tasted good, but it was roughly 7 oz alongside fries, and the price was $46.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was good, though not exceptional, with portions that felt a bit unbalanced. Overall, considering what was served, the cost felt difficult to justify.

My wife and I went here for dinner tonight. I am both gluten and dairy intolerant and needed to find a place that I could eat at. When I called they said they could easily meet those requirements with many menu choices.

My wife ordered the baba ghanoush with pita bread and a side of vegetables. All those things were excellent.

I ordered the lentil soup and the beef Shawarma.

The lentil soup was nothing short of amazing. The flavor was just perfect and it was not too salty. It was perhaps some of the best lentil soup I’ve ever had.

The beef Shawarma was drizzled with a tahini sauce and served with a side of white rice. This dish was outstanding. I could not get over the flavor as the tahini sauce just made the beef pop in your mouth with taste.

The flavoring was perfect. It was not too salty, and it did not leave me with a strong aftertaste.

The serving staff was outstanding and they explained many choices very well and offered suggestions for us.

My wife had the baklava for dessert and really enjoyed that as well.

The next time we come to Charleston, this will be a must see place for us to eat lunch or dinner at. Again, I could not recommend this place any higher than what I’m doing here.

Went here last night for a work dinner and it was INCREDIBLE. The dolma (grape leaves) were the best I’ve ever had, genuinely. We all got a bunch of apps and split and I can honestly say you can’t go wrong with any of them.

For my entree I offered the Vegetarian Moussaka and it was amazing. Huge portions too, so you’ll definitely get your moneys worth.

We all got a bunch of desserts to split, and they were all great. My favorites were the baklava and the baklava ice cream!

I also cannot compliment the staff enough. They were so kind, friendly, and accommodating for our larger group. I’m genuinely going to miss them!

TLDR; if you’re considering Layla’s, you won’t be disappointed!

We are from Michigan connecting with our lifelong SC friends and by a quirky happenstance our Lebanese/Italian friend Lenny met Tom a friend and frequent flyer of Leyla’s and friend of the owners Dolly and Joseph. We were exceedingly blessed to eat here and engage in conversation and food with this lovely couple. They are a family business devoted to bringing the exquisite tastes of Lebanon to Charleston. Dolly makes sure to only use the freshest ingredients and spices from Lebanon to replicate dishes from the old country. She makes sure the food is in a farm to table tradition and it is a one of a kind experience not found in Charleston. Being from MI where Mediterranean food is everywhere in Detroit and Dearborn we were blown away by the taste of the offerings. Don’t miss out on this tasty food experience and the welcoming atmosphere of these beautiful people! For desert a must have delight is the Knefe served with pistachio ice cream…a new favorite that will be hard to find anywhere else

The staff was very pleasant and loved to joke. One staff member cared enough to make sure to tell us not to give a lamb shank bone to any pets. The Lamb Shank with rice was spectacular. The stuffed grape leaves (Dolmades) & pomegranate with pine nuts hummus were also delicious. The only area that was not great was charging $5 for an 8 oz glass of Coke. Yes, they offer 1 refill, but that is extremely high. I pay on the Florida tourist trap beaches $3.50-4.50 for a 16 oz coke with free refills. When an 8 oz can in a 12 pack of Coke at Target is about .63, then that $5 for 8 oz is the largest markup I have experienced. Overall, it is a great place to eat.

If you’re seeking a culinary adventure that transcends mere dining, look no further than Leyla Fine Lebanese Dining in Charleston, South Carolina. After years of exploring various restaurants, I can confidently declare this my #1 pick for those with a love for authentic, adventurous cuisine. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining with my wife and one of my daughters, and we all agree: this experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were enveloped in a warm, familial atmosphere. The cozy decor, with its inviting furniture and thoughtful table settings, made us feel right at home. It quickly became apparent that the staff was genuinely invested in our experience, ensuring that every need was met with a smile.

We started our evening with a lovely Cabernet as we perused the authentic menu. Unsure of what to choose, we decided to order a selection of small plates to sample a variety of flavors. Each dish was a revelation. The stuffed grape leaves were delightful, but the standout was the hummus—without question the best I’ve ever had. The artichoke, a dish I usually overlook, was transformed here; beautifully presented, it became an event in itself. Even as someone who isn’t a huge fan of artichokes, I found myself thoroughly enjoying it, and my wife was enamored.

The pan-seared halloumi, crafted from sheep’s milk, was another highlight. It was delicate, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the other dishes. At this point, I was smitten—not just with the food but with the family that runs this establishment. The owner, an older lady who occasionally emerged from the kitchen, came to our table and shared her joy in our satisfaction. Her warmth and passion for the culinary arts were palpable. When we expressed uncertainty about how to enjoy the artichoke, she took the time to give us a mini culinary lesson, explaining how to properly dissect it. This gesture transformed our meal into a true family experience, making us feel like we were among friends.

Moving on to the main courses, I opted for the lamb shank, which was touted as the most popular item on the menu. It was easy to see why: the richness of the braised lamb, combined with perfectly seasoned rice, created a moment of culinary euphoria I won’t soon forget. My daughter’s shrimp kebab was equally impressive—her enthusiastic silence spoke volumes. My wife, having claimed the artichoke for her meal, was delighted by its size and flavor.

No meal is complete without dessert, and we were guided to try Osmanlieh—a heavenly combination of clotted cream, filo dough, and house-made pistachio ice cream. This dessert struck a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and light, providing a delightful conclusion to our meal.

By the end of the evening, we felt like we’d made connections with everyone on the staff, taking photos to capture the memories of this special night. As we prepared to leave, we were surprised with a house-made lemon-apricot shot that perfectly encapsulated the evening’s flavors.

Reflecting on this experience months later brings a rush of happiness and nostalgia. Leyla Fine Lebanese Dining is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of family, tradition, and the joy of sharing food. If you find yourself in Charleston, do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in this extraordinary culinary journey. To pass up this gem would be a true disservice.

Delightful vegan and gluten free options are clearly labeled on the menu – thank you! We enjoyed our meals so much that we returned the following day. We were thrilled to find home cooked, healthy, fresh food. The service was exceptional with staff anticipating every need. High quality food and experience! A gem and highlight of our quick visit to Charleston. I wish I had taken a picture before I dug in. Gorgeous presentation.
