Merridee McCray, the founder of Merridee’s Breadbasket, grew up baking breads, pies and sweets from scratch with her mother. It was a tradition passed on to her by her grandmother, Anna Maria Faust, who once served as head cook for the Pillsbury family. When Merridee passed away in 1993, Jim Kreider bought Merridee’s Breadbasket. Today, Jim and his exceptional team are still making everything from scratch, creating products that not only have a great taste, but are nutritional as well. Merridee’s features a variety of baked goods, homemade soups, quiches and fresh salads.
Modern cafe/bakery offering homemade soups, sandwiches & decadent desserts amid a country-chic vibe.

I had the opportunity to eat here again and it’s just as delicious as before. Service is fast and friendly and it gets really busy and the food is delicious!
I had a delicious breakfast at Merridee’s! I got a delicious iced latte and the Bennett’s Scramble and the eggs were perfect! The cheese on top was definitely quality. The hash brown casserole was some of the best hash brown casserole I’ve ever had. When I come back, it’ll be hard not to get more of it. It was SO good.
Cool old coffee shop atmosphere. Service was quick. Employees were nice. They also offer beer and wine if that’s what you are looking for at lunch time.
I got the breakfast sandwich and my husband got the Viking sandwich and we were both incredibly disappointed. We agreed that something tasted off or old and neither of us could finish our meals, despite paying nearly $40. When getting water from the fountain I noticed small black specks floating in the cup, so that was also out of the question due to concerns for cleanliness. The staff that we encountered (at the front when ordering and the waitress who brought out our food) seemed to want to be anywhere else and the woman who took our order came across as borderline rude and acted like it was a bother to have to speak to us, which should have been an indication of how our experience would be.
This is the first time I’ve ever left a negative review, especially for a small business, but this experience was truly such a disappointment, especially when compared to the warmth and hospitality we’ve experienced at other establishments.
We had high hopes with seeing their menu and the food in the cases.
The cinnamon roll was stale and dry.
The chocolate milk was sour—looking at the date, it was three weeks expired!!
We told the cashier and she said to grab another. Well, all of them were expired so we got a soft drink. We were there for 45 minutes and on the way out we looked in the cooler and all of the milks were still there—for sale (it’s a serve yourself case). So, they knew they were selling spoiled chocolate milk.
No knives available until your food comes out so we couldn’t cut the cinnamon roll.
The omelet was good but everything lacked seasoning.
Their biscuit was good.
Again, would not recommend this place.
All was very good. Boutique attached to the restaurant, shop while you wait for your food.
Did notice the tables were left messy/dirty after people left. Took a long time for someone to bus those tables.
Everything was amazing, food wise. The breads are fresh baked and the foundation for their sandwiches.
The Rueben was fantastic. The pastrami was hot, crispy with melty cheese. The side of 1,000 was tart and tangy and the perfect accompaniment. It was on toasted, marbled rye. Rueben perfection.
The wrap was perfect. It was the spicy chicken wrap and earned its name. Just the right amount of spice, good flavor, nicely sauced with shredded cheese.
The patty melt was very good. Quality burger patty with melty cheese. It was on toasted sourdough and came with a side of 1,000.
The Club was outstanding. Shaved deli meats, piled high on toasted bread. This will have you going Clubbing!
The salad samplers came with chicken salad; cold,
Flavorful with chunks of celery, tuna salad, sort of bbq-Smokey-in a good way, and the egg salad reminiscent of grandma’s. These came with their homemade bread and cinnamon bread and butter. These came cinnamon bread was out of this county good. The salads also came with a small tin of ambrosia! Surprisingly good too.
Finally, the Mac and cheese is homemade cheesy goodness. It’s not orange kraft out of box here. It’s just salty-enough, Smokey, hot and gooey. Try this Mac and cheese.
Sides are bag of chips, or fruit.
Soft drinks were bubbly.
So excellent food and efficient service, however the person taking our order went out of his way to NOT be friendly. You did not go to the counter until you were summoned. Other than this power trip, no complaints. He’s likely not happy with some of his life choices.
Regardless, great grub and an overall great experience and will return.
