On March 4th, 1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now famous Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Late that evening, a group of Dominic’s friends arrived at the bar with ravenous appetites. Dominic asked his mother, Teressa, to prepare something for his friends to eat. They looked like chicken wings, a part of the chicken that usually went into the stock pot for soup. Teressa had deep fried the wings and flavored them with a secret sauce. The wings were an instant hit and it didn’t take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar. The phenomenon created in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo has spread across the globe

We went for the double traditional wings (20 wings), which was more than enough for two people; it was plenty and we even had leftovers.
The atmosphere was fun, with lots of enthusiastic photos and quirky décor, which made the place feel lively. The servers were friendly, attentive, and respectful. this place is a solid choice for wing lovers, especially if you’re looking for generous portions and a fun, welcoming vibe.
It was a great time by all and our waitress Eva was personable and attentive.
Atmosphere is low key and casual so it was great for a low key kind of day.
Highly recommend! ⭐️
Wanting this historical narrative to be true, but armed with at least a little skepticism, I just had to discover if all of the hype was warranted. It took me all of my first bite to release any doubts that I possessed and I found myself contemplative while awaiting the multitude of flavors to arrive. These wings are immediately addictive, have an inexplicably crunchy exterior, are accompanied by an abundance of sauce to complement their juicy and tender interior, and I was shocked at how quickly that first one was followed by 21 others.
I would highly recommend that you study the sauce spectrum carefully prior to ordering and select at least two for comparison purposes. One of my selections was the “Spicy Garlic Parmesan” (which is only 1 rung above “Medium (Original)” and it featured a delayed, but joyful burn. Hesitant to express itself initially, it draws comparisons to a rocketship afterburn, so when your server provides you a glass of water it’s not just for show. Neither is the celery or that stack of napkins lying in front of you. You’re gonna get real familiar with those 3 amigos early on during your meal to help extinguish that fire in your pie hole. They’ve been at this for more than 60 years and know what they’re doing and exactly what necessary equipment you’ll need!
Your wait to get a table can be long (especially if a Bills game is imminent) so plan your visit strategically.
As my wing boneyard will atest, time flies here as your unbridled ravenous urges are manifested!
And that’s…Henry’s Take.

I order the spicy hot chicken soup and it was amazing. I wanted to take a tub of that home with me easy a must get. The wings were also good but I was a bit disappointed in their spiciest level as it wasn’t as spicy as I would hope but still good flavor. The other flavors we got were good solid wings sauces.
Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures pictures of the food as were we starving after the bills games. It seems everyone also come here after a game so be a little patient when coming here.
