The best Thai resto so far I have eaten from both in Surabaya and Jakarta. Food quality is always consistent, top notch, makes me misses Bangkok even more. Steam fish, olive rice, lumpia, even veggie is fresh and delicious. Keep it up

Absolutely love Chao Praya Surabaya! The food is authentic and full of flavour — especially the Tom Yum and Pad Thai. Great ambience, friendly staff, and excellent service. One of the best authentic Thai restaurants in Surabaya!

This restaurant situated in a colonial-style building, perfectly complements the inherent regal atmosphere of Thailand. The spacious dining area is further enhanced by classic Thai ornaments and interior design. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes characterized by delicious flavors and rich seasoning. Be sure to try the special Thai milk tea, which features an adorable chocolate-bear shaped ice mold and contains a light chocolate flavor.

In my opinion, this is the best thai restaurant in Surabaya, or maybe compared to Jakarta also. We were group of 3, myself, my dad and my brother with advanced reservation. We’ve seated in the 4 person table seating with nice decoration and spot actually, close to the outdoor area. We ordered 6 dishes of the menu, toom yum goong for family, khao pad thalee, pla thod mammuang, khai hor battoney, roasted duck curry with lychee (I don’t recall the thai name in the menu ), and the last of course mango sticky rice. None of them failed in my opinion, but the duck was not my fave. The toom yum was superb full of seafood, clams, squid, fish, prawns, and the flavor was intensely amazing. Khao pad thalee or seafood fried rice was enjonyable with a lot of shrimps in it, served with pickles and soy sauce, the portion could be sharing for 2-3 people. The khai hor battoney a.k.a chicken pandan was delicious, but nothing special in my opinion, just like other chicken pandan. The pla thod mammuang or fried fish served with mango salad was superb, the fish was tender (but it smells dirt a bit since we order gourami rather than grouper), the tanginess of the mango salad enhanced the flavor. The roasted duck curry with lychee was tender, but the sauce wasn’t entertaining my palate, not quite interest me. The dessert mango sticky rice was absolutely define, mango was nice, the pandan sticky rice with coconut milk sauce was melted in my mouth. Over all my fave was toom yum goong, fried fish with mango salad and mango sticky rice. One thing that I want to add also is the ambience of the restaurant was lovely and cozy, nice setting with flower bouquet and calm lighting. Over all is truly recommended, and don’t forget for advanced reservation guys!

Been here many times before. The food was good and the taste was quite authentic.
Service could be better. My friend arrived earlier and had left her name at reception, but when I arrived and asked for her table, they said there was no one with that name.
The place is spacious and well decorated. They also have a VIP room that can be booked with minimum spending.

Tried this restaurant on 12Apr.. and so happy to enjoy all the food. Tom yam goong is not so spicy, I loved it. Oyster omelete is too plain but still ok. Steamed fish is very nice and fresh.. Chicken pandan and pad thai are super yummy… The service is great… Locates in the city centre, great ambience..suitable for family dining or business meeting or to celebrate special occasion… if you miss Thai food, for sure can come here…

The food and desserts were very satisfying, but I found the drinks to be somewhat lacking in both taste and portion size. The ambiance of the restaurant was good, though the table arrangement made the space feel quite crowded, which restricted movement and made it a bit challenging to talk freely. However, the service, from parking to the waitstaff, was excellent and highly satisfying.

I am gladly giving 5 stars to this restaurant. We have been there 3 times, and the service, dishes and ambiance are absolutely pleased us.
The dishes were delicious and plating so beautifully.
Our must order dish are the steam fish, grapefruit salad, pad thai and pineapple fried rice.
I randomly choose mixed berry for beverage and it turns out great!
Thank you for the kind and friendly waiter/waitress too.

Good service, we got the VIP room with minimum purchase for 5 people that time. We order a lot and the waiter who handle us is very competent, responsive and helpful. An enjoyable dinner nite with good food, private space to talk and laugh without worries.
The steam fish is 5 star, and don’t forget to eat it fast and better turn of the fire so it won’t be too overcooked. The papaya salad gives tangy fresh taste to your palate. The meat is okay, not a star but still good. Tom yum is a star as well, very thick broth, refreshing, sour, a bit spicy – a delightful soup to have. All the curry variations is good as well. Pad Thai is good, well cooked. For the dessert, the mango sticky rice is a must, ask for more ‘coconut sauce’. The firm soft cassava is good as well, dip into the coconut sauce if you like. A great place to have Thai cuisine in town if I may say the best one.
