Excellent BBQ at a place with a long history of serving up great food! Their famous pulled pork sandwich had pieces of bark (a BBQ hallmark) that helped accent their sauce.
They have 2 BBQ sauces to choose from, each of which are killer and worth trying. They also offer a wide selection of teas to take home.
We went just after the lunch rush, so the service was quick to take our order and drop off drinks and food. The place was clean, the prices were great, and there’s was an old fashioned vibe about. We really enjoyed Golden Rule!

Good atmosphere and clean. Baby back ribs weren’t fall off the bone but a little tough (left over). Mac and cheese very creamy but not cheesy. Collard greens a bit bitter with a strong vinegar. Customer service was good on cash and getting the food ready but then my order sat on the counter and I had to ask for it so I could leave. Portion size compared to size of ribs and sides was small. Not worth the $15. Get twice as much food on the side country roads of anywhere else. Tipping on the cash was ridiculous starting at 20% and going way up.

Golden Rule gets better and better with every visit. I took my daughter yesterday and she loved the vibe and the pork. Her pork plate was loaded down, way more food than she could eat do I brought it home for dinner. It’s old school, traditional pit barbecue and it’s fantastic!

Delicious! More than enough to eat! I even had some leftovers to take home to the puppy dog. Nice people and excellent desserts. You’re hungry for barbecue, this is the place

I’ve had better bbq but wasn’t too bad. Small servings of meat and lots of vinegar in the BBQ sauce n coleslaw, if that’s what you like. I used the white sauce it had a better flavor then it the traditional. Ample seating and our server have us stellar service. That made the meal worthwhile.

Haven’t eaten here in a good while but NEVER will eat there again. The food was horrible. The chicken sandwich was bad and the white bbq sauce was awful. The smoked turkey sandwich was slathered in honey mustard which was not good. The potato salad Was worse than Mrs Stratton’s you buy in a plastic container at a grocery store. The baked beans were too heavily seasoned with brown sugar and some other spices . Ate only a few bites and took home the remaining food and fed it to my animals. Was so shocked how bad the food was.!!!!!

We have been eating at GR for 30+ yrs with family and friends. It was our favorite BBQ place with a good variety of foods. However we have experienced a decline in the quality of food over the past 5 years and it has gotten worse over time. For the last 5-6 visits over the past year or so each time we say we aren’t going back. But this past Saturday 1/2/26 we were trying to think of a place to eat and was going to Chic-fil-a but as we approached the restaurant I said let’s get some BBQ. So we stopped by GR to give them another chance and hoping the last visits were just a fluke. Well, it wasn’t. The place just didn’t have the same atmosphere as there was only 6or 7 tables taken and we used to have to wait at least 10-15 minutes and longer on Sunday’s. We sat in the area with the tables not the booths. It just wasn’t as clean as prior visits.
I ordered the bbq sandwich and fries (their fries are my favorite when it comes to fries and they were not fresh and hot), my sandwich was good. My husband ordered Brunswick Stew—that looked like vegetable soup (had bigger chunks of vegetables, small amounts of meat and tasted like vegetable soup. He said they need to go find a recipe for BRUNSWICK STEW! My grandson ordered grilled cheese and Mac &cheese—he said the sandwich looked like a flat hockey puck (it was their HB bun turned inside out and was mashed flat and the M&C was disgusting. I tried it and it had no cheesy flavor and was just a bunch of overcooked noodles and was a pile of pale yellow tasteless mush.
Our server was nice but we waited for drink refills then I had to go find her to get a drink refill. I will say that I explained our problem and she brought me another order of fresh, hot fries and she took the Stew off of our ticket and we left all of the bad food on the table. In our opinion it was not a good experience, the quality of the food was poor and the prices—-definitely not worth the $36 we paid and we will NOT be back.
I guess we will have to make FULL MOON our number one BBQ choice.

Delicious barbecue that hit the spot. I’m hit or miss on coleslaw so I didn’t like it but the potato salad, brisket sandwich, and ribs were good. The original bbq sauce was outstanding.
