Decided to go Chinatown and eat here because of good reviews. Was seated immediately, we are a group of 8.

Our server has a bit of difficulty speaking english when we ask questions but the serving is huge. We ended up ordering plenty because of the misunderstanding that each order is good for one when it fact, it is a platter. From the soup, to rice, to everything is huge portion so keep that in mind.

The location is not very far from $7 parking garage, used to be $5. Pretty easy to find. If you are looking for good Chinese food, this is your place. Ambiance is so so but we did not mind since all we did was talk.

We liked everything, I particularly liked the Slippery Shrimp, Braised Tofu (a hint of spice) and Pork Chop. The Duck is kinda dry.

Yang Chow is always a great stop in Chinatown. The food is so good the fried rice, dumplings, and string beans are all must orders. Their Slippery Shrimp, which is one of their most famous dishes, is a must-try too. The Kung Pao, Chow Mein are also super popular and never disappoint.

The service is attentive even when the place is packed, and it’s almost always crowded, but honestly the wait is worth it every time. I also love looking at all the celebrity photos on the wall, it gives the restaurant that classic, old school Chinatown charm.

Man…. a very rare find, true 5-star all around: the food, the service, the atmosphere AND the pricing…. Visiting LA from GA, i stopped by for late lunch… and thank God it was late lunch, otherwise I wouldn’t have even gotten in!!! Yes, it was still almost full and since I went alone I felt bad I would take up one of their tables!!!! Okay, I am not trying to be racist, but i have encountered many, including Koreans, old cranky Asian ladies(usually owners), but not this one, from the beginning the classy lady was very kind and didn’t mind giving me a table even though I went there alone. Boy, that was only the beginning; the entire staff was so nice, not just my waiter, everyone, really!!!! And Benny, I think the manager, came over a couple of times to check up on me, a table for ONE!!! Moreover, their signature Slippery Shirmp was excellent, on-point, crunch and with delicious flavors…. Wait, there is more: thw price was soooooo reasonable, especially in this inflation age, I could not believe it, with very generous portion as well. How can I not give the 5-star for this wonderful restaurant , it actually deserves 7-star if such thing existed. I am certainly stopping by this restaurant whenever I am in town to try other menu items, and i will definitely recommend to my friends in the area…. EXCELLENT food and IMPRESSIVE service, thank you!!!

There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in this area that are just as good, if not better than this place with probably less of a wait. I went here not knowing that my sister saw this place on TikTok and wanted to try their slippery shrimp.

What we ordered, most liked to least:

SHRIMP FRIED RICE – It wasn’t super greasy like you’d expect fried rice to be. It had a good flavor to it, light (didn’t seem like it had soy sauce) and had a good amount of shrimp.

KUNG PAO CHICKEN – Flavorful, the only thing I wasn’t too fond of was there seemed to be more green onions and peanuts than chicken.

SLIPPERY SHRIMP – It was good but I prefer my original walnut shrimp. It reminded me of the shrimp version of orange chicken (but less tangier).

Chicken LO MIEN NOODLES – the main flavor I tasted was soy sauce. In my opinion, there wasn’t a good balance of flavors with this dish. I don’t recommend it.

SERVICE: Workers were super friendly. Food came out very quickly. What wasn’t quick was getting your table. We waited about 45 minutes for a table. And no you can’t make reservations.

This is now our second time visiting Yang Chow, and I’m always impressed. The food is wonderful and the portions are HUGE (we always go home with leftovers.) I’ve seen some mixed reviews on the service, but our server, Benny, was FANTASTIC. Very attentive, personal, and made us laugh. He was also very careful with a shrimp allergy in our party. We came in at 5pm and told them we needed to be out by 6:30 and would prefer fast service. I kid you not, we had food on the table by 5:10 and our full meal by 5:20. We were out at 6:15! Additionally, they have validated parking in the back, behind the building. This is now our new spot and we will be back anytime we want great Chinese food.

This is a great place to grab some delicious Chinese food. The wall of celebrities shows its long history. I recommend ordering the slippery shrimp and fried rice. They have a private parking lot and there’s also a paid lot down the street. Staff are attentive and service is great. They also have cocktails, if you’re looking to paint the town red.

Yummy Chinese food in Chinatown. Saw all the reviews on google and decided to stop by while in Chinatown. Everything we had was delicious. For appetizer we ordered the shrimp toast and it was so delicious, perfectly crispy and the shrimp filling was so tasty!
We also ordered the chicken fried rice and sliced chicken with hot spicy garlic sauce and it was so good
I would definitely recommend this restaurant if in the area and in the mood for some good Chinese. I will be back when I’m LA again!!!

Being in Chinatown brings back childhood memories where Yang Chiw is located. The restaurant was not crowded and they accommodated us quickly. Loved my “slippery shrimp” and the chow mein was impressive!

Due to traffic, I chose to order dinner through DoorDash last night, selecting the orange chicken, chicken fried rice, and slippery shrimp. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find that all dishes were served at the correct temperature. The slippery shrimp was particularly impressive, while the orange chicken with broccoli and chicken fried rice were also enjoyable. The quality of the meal justified the expense.

My wife and I stopped in yesterday, and I have to say the customer service truly elevated the entire experience—it made the food taste even better. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by walls filled with photos of celebrities who have visited, including Magic Johnson and many more. The must-try dish here is definitely the famous slippery shrimp, which people travel from all over to enjoy. We paired it with chicken fried rice, and the portions were generous enough for two. A great experience all around!
