The atmosphere was clean and upscale. The staff were kind and attentive. Our drinks were exquisite and our food was cooked to perfection. We did not experience a long wait in time for anything.
We shared the Grouper Ceviche appetizer, my girlfriend had the Swordfish entree and I had the Almond crusted Grouper. I recommend all of these food options.
We had informed the restaurant of my girlfriend’s birthday prior to our arrival when we made our reservation. Our waitress acknowledged a birthday at our table to which she offered one of two complimentary deserts she would bring at the end of our meal in celebration.
Unfortunately, once we finished our meal and drinks, it seemed our waitress forgot the birthday cake desert she promised to bring.
As one might understand, being promised something and then not following through can be disappointing. Especially on someone birthday..
As I signed the check and gave it to our waitress, she thanked us and wished my girlfriend a Happy Birthday clearly indicating she did not forget.
We are grateful for her service and professionalism. Everything went well except for the birthday cake part which really upset my girlfriend as she was rightfully looking forward to it.
We are understanding that people are human and will inevitably make mistakes sometime or forget something. It is a little harder of a pill to swallow when it is one’s birthday..
I would have gladly paid for the desert had I known it would be forgotten and a birthday girl would not be receiving her cake.
In retrospect, in might have been better NOT to offer the complimentary desert rather than doing so and not following through.
The food, however, is limited, pretentious, and seriously overpriced. I’ve tried most of the menu and always walked away feeling ripped off—the lobster fried rice being the biggest offender so far.
The cocktail menu is where this place really shines. Easily the best mixed drinks you’ll find this side of Palafox St.
As a local, the biggest dealbreaker for me is the new parking policy. If you park in their lot, cameras track your plate and mail you a ticket—unless you go to a website, enter your info, and a code that (according to the bartender) changes monthly. Even hotels on Pensacola Beach during Blue Angels practice don’t do this. The signage in the lot is easy to miss, and we were told even staff are getting ticketed. I can’t imagine how this kind of negative “customer service” won’t hurt off-season business with locals. For me, it’s simply not worth the hassle.
