Wow! We had a really great time at Jotoro Kitchen & Taqueria Bar in Tampa. It’s a fun, relaxed spot with a welcoming vibe, and the food was genuinely very good.
The tacos were excellent (and big) fresh, flavorful, and well made and the nachos were also a hit. Simple, tasty, and perfect for sharing. Everything felt easy and unpretentious, just good food done right. The service was honestly one of the highlights. Our server was friendly, attentive, and easygoing, always around when we needed something but never hovering. It made the whole experience feel comfortable and relaxed.

The restaurant is also very kid-friendly, both in terms of service and food. They have a kids’ menu and child friendly drink cups, which definitely makes things smoother when dining with kids. Jotoro is located inside Sparkman Wharf, which is a great bonus. The whole area is lively and fun, with several food and dessert options around. This time, the kids decided to skip dessert at Jotoro and try something sweet from another spot in the complex instead, which was easy and convenient. They also have a nice selection of cocktails. I’m not drinking alcohol at the moment , so I’ll save that for my next visit to Tampa:)) Overall, I really loved the vibe relaxed, friendly, and enjoyable. I’d definitely come back again when visiting Tampa.

The atmosphere and the location are awesome! Taco Tuesday is a great deal. But it’s still too expensive and the food was just okay! I did love the chips and queso but everything else was average.

The margarita was great and our server was really friendly. We may come back next time we’re in the area, but mostly for the bar

We really enjoyed our meal. Disappointed in having to ask for refills. Many choose “water” because it’s free. Choosing a soda adds to the bill quickly — however I don’t mind. But just be sure to offer refills since I’m paying for my drinks. Especially with spicy/salty food!

Took my dad here for the first time as I’ve been a few times and the food was absolutely amazing as usual!! It’s the only Mexican place I go to when I’m in town and love showing off the food. Jazmin was our waitress and was very friendly and accommodating, she also asked about food allergies. The bar staff was also welcoming upon entering the building!!

The Birria tacos were delicious. Very filling! I loved the crunchy shell, Korean beef and the spicy dipping sauce was an added delight. And the pomegranate mojito was unique and refreshing. Also some of the best queso around.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. The steak burrito East LA style and the fried ice cream were incredible. Our server, Francesco, was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We will be back for sure.

First time visiting this restaurant. I ordered 3 birria tacos with beans only and had tortilla chips with guacamole.
Our server, Chacho was absolutely wonderful. He was hospitable and attentive. I asked for extra beans instead of rice and he was more than willing to accommodate. He also checked on the table but NOT excessively, which is one of my pet peeves when dining out. But ya, he was a great server.
The ambiance is full of lively background music, impressive chain link Mexican art and wall decor. I liked the atmosphere.
Now-The food!
The chips and guacamole- I loved the guacamole.
The birria tacos-Double crispy fried taco shells stuffed with a hearty amount of tasty shredded beef. I was confused with the dipping juice but it was very delicious. I was only able to eat 2 because it was so filling.
The beans-tasted like can beans (maybe they were cooked fresh?) with added cumin. The cumin flavor was very prevalent! I was not impressed.
My son and daughter in law had the rice with beans and the rice did not look like authentic Mexican rice.
My whole issue with the food is that it was not as authentic to a Mexican restaurant experience as I hoped for. I lived in Southern California and have been to Mexico so I do know good Mexican food.
If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican food experience, this just might be a disappointment but still satisfying if you can separate “Mexican” from the food.
But again, the beans? No bueno. Sorry
I had a good time with my family there while visiting Tampa. My son loves the place.

My family and I were trying to find a place to eat lunch before heading into the aquarium. I’m glad we found Jotoro.
Our server Matthew was amazing! So friendly and fun to hear his stories of his time as a baseball player. We were in town to see the Rays game as part of our MLB ballpark tour. We ordered the taco salad, chicken fajitas, and taqueria salad. Everything came out tasty and fresh. The shells were crispy and not soggy, which we appreciated. The one minor knock, I wish the ground beef in my salad was not as cold, but it still tasted good. We didn’t order drinks or dessert. If you are in the area, give this place a try.

This was my first time here the food was good. The appetizer we had was the best part of the entire meal would I go back? Yes but I probably would just do the appetizer and drinks.

Super cool vibe and drinks were phenomenal. Jake was a gracious bartender, very friendly and gave me so much love for my birthday. We tried the spoon bread which was INCREDIBLE! We will be back for him 🙂
