Automatic Slims is a fantastic brunch spot, especially on a Sunday. My go-to order is the chicken & waffles (comes with potatoes) OR the Oreo waffle with a side of bacon. Service is always great, and typically there’s no wait longer than 10-20 minutes unless it’s packed at every table. This visit I went in around noon on Sunday, and there was no wait. My friends and I left after two, fully satisfied with how we were taken care of. Do NOT sleep on the $3 mimosas!!

I came across from the Peabody. I chose Automatic Slims after debating to go here or sugar grits. I wanted to try was the three dollar mimosas I walked in and I approach the hostess kindly greeted her and said it’s just me and she offered me a seat at the bar and I said no I prefer to have a small table. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded and she seemed annoyed when I picked my table in the back off to the side away from all the other people after about five minutes or the waitress treated me. She brought me some water and then about five more minutes later came and took my order. The restaurant wasn’t very busy. I asked for plain pancakes, ala cart scrambled eggs and bacon. I forgot to order my mimosa. The food arrived quickly. I was actually surprised how tasty the pancakes were, they taste better than in the pictures. The eggs were light and fluffy and the bacon was crisp and tasty. after I had finished my meal maybe there was confusion on my end because I wanted another mimosa, but she just all of a sudden brought me the check so I was a little bit miffed that I wasn’t actually ready to leave. Even the restaurant still wasn’t that crowded I would’ve had one more mimosa. I felt as if I was bothering the staff. It was a nice place. The food was great. Another customer commented how tasty the steak and eggs were. Most of the chairs in the restaurant do not have cushioned seats. against the wall, which is where I sat had a nice cushioned seat. The bar high tops did too. The restaurant is a bit noisy. If you’re looking for tasty food, this was actually a good place. I just would educate the servers on being more friendly or ask them if they want another drink. They checked my 52 year old ID. 🙂

Automatic Slim’s is EVERYTHING.

From the moment the food hit the table, I knew I was in the right place. The flavors were spot-on, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly the way they should be. Nothing was greasy, nothing overdone—just good, honest, flavorful food.

The shrimp and grits were absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked shrimp, creamy grits with the right consistency, and a balance of flavor that lets you enjoy every bite without being overwhelmed. This is how the dish is supposed to be done. Period.

The atmosphere, the vibe, and most importantly the quality of the food made the experience unforgettable. You can tell care is put into the preparation, and that makes all the difference.

If you’re looking for a place that delivers flavor, quality, and satisfaction, Automatic Slim’s is it. I will definitely be back and will happily recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great meal in Memphis!

The waiter was very friendly and we was greeted as we walked through the doors. The only thing I will complain about is the steak had too much fat meat on it but overall the place is wonderful to sit n enjoy your food n drinks!

We had such an enjoyable experience at Automatic Slim’s. Jennifer gave us such friendly service and conversation about Memphis as we were visiting from out of state. The shrimp and grits and rib dinner were both very delicious and we enjoyed a few wonderful martinis as well.

This been our breakfast place for years. This Sunday is our last. Place has gone down hill. The service, the food and decor was so bad it made me sad.
Flat crispy pancakes
Salmon benedicts was salty with the smallest salmon they could find.

They charge for plastic ware and we were not to go orders. The waitress was not happy about having a party our size. She didn’t try to ask why plastic was needed. Ignored our request. Luckily, I carry mine with me. The food was good. Mimosa was warm, not chilled. With 15.00 parking, I expected more. The host was amazing and showed me to my seat.

Great food with decent pricing and great service. Our server, Angel, was amazing. We tried a few combinations of their waffles (red velvet, oreo, and elvis). A few of their egg dishes as well. Grits were amazing. Will definitely come back next time we r in town.

Please open one in Columbus Ohio! Alternately: May I live in your fridge and work for my daily vittles? IDK why this place is so underrated. Easily listed alongside any AAA four+star or Michelin-rated restaurants I’ve been to in the last 25 years or so.
The cocktail was good, the grits are CORRECT, and the service is quick and unfussed.

Came here with friends for Downtown Dining Week and decided to order from special menu. Waitress was not very friendly. $6 martinis was nice bonus but the drink (Flaming lily pad) I got tasted like pure vodka and like none of the others flavors supposedly in it, so I didn’t enjoy it very much. The others enjoyed their Raspberry Lemon Drop martinis though. Appetizers : The Monte Cristo lollipops were good. Small portions but unsure if this was due to special menu. Buffalo chicken dip was very good as well and loved the crispy wontons served with it. We needed more wontons for the amount of dip we received, but I didn’t know I would be charged an extra $4 for those until the bill came. ENTREE: 3 others at my table all got the brioche bun hot chicken sliders with brussel sprouts. They seemed to like the sandwiches but NOT the brussel sprouts and portions were pretty small. I ordered the chicken fried steak over cheddar mash potatoes. It was delicious!! It had a maple sausage flavor that I enjoyed very much and would definitely order again, nice portion size here. Desserts: Not sure what happened here but we ordered the Red Velvet and the Chocolate Chip Brownie and they were both gross. That was everyone’s concensus.
