The food was really good considering the price, and the portion sizes were quite filling. There was a nice touch of Indian flavors with well-balanced spices. For mocktails, we tried fresh lime soda, aam panna, and spicy guava — all were refreshing and well prepared.
For starters, we had Tulsi Wale Malai Kebab and Chicken Ka Tikka, both of which were flavourful and tender.
For the main course, we ordered Dal Makhni, Shaam Savera, and Chicken Korma, paired with an assorted bread basket that included plain, butter, garlic, and laccha paratha. We also added cheese naan, which complemented the dishes perfectly.
Everything was delicious and satisfying. The staff were very welcoming, and the seating arrangement felt premium and comfortable.
Overall, if you’re looking for a good Indian restaurant in Jersey City, I would definitely recommend Amiya — worth trying at least once.
Nitish has served our table, he recommended food and drinks which were amazing amazing. We tried the pomegranate mocktail, I forgot the exact name of the drink. We tried dahi kebab its fabbbbb. Also Amiya paneer with garlic naan maincourse this has my heart its so so delicious. We also tried malai paneer. And so others but these things were my top priority in taste its just amazing. I’m looking forward to come here again.
One thing that was a bit disappointing, though, was that we had a 2-year-old with us and found out there was no kids’ menu available—the same menu is expected for children too, which was quite surprising. Having some kid-friendly options would make the dining experience even better for families.
While they seemed to like the food a lot, I had a more mixed experience.
– Samosa Chaat: This was tasty but small.
– Vegetarian Sampler Platter: Not sure if something was lost in translation, but we received two plates of these, though the plates didn’t have some of the same items. Best of the bunch was the samosa and bhajia. Though is saddens me that. Veg Platter features only fried items–surely more could’ve been done?
– Korma: Not as creamy as I would’ve liked.
– Til Wale Aloo Gobhi: Not spicy enough, well…at all. I’m used to my Aloo Gobi packed with mustard seeds and other bursts of flavor that make my tongue tipsy. Amiya kinda played it safe here.
– Garlic Naan: Fine but not garlicky enough.
– Mango Kulfi: Generous portion but already fairly melted when served.
– Ras Malai: The paneer was a bit hard in that not-yet-thawed kind of way, and the cream needed wayyyy more cardamom. But I’m a cardamom fiend, so there’s never enough cardamom for me.
Can’t say much for service as boss’ wife did most of the ordering in Hindi. I’ll give them props for making an attempt at nice decor, though the dark and dank look with weirdly colored string lights isn’t really my style. There was also a TV tray filled with plastic drinking bags of brightly colored liquor at the entrances that never went away–no idea what that was about.
Oh and they do validate parking, if that matters.
What stood out most was the warm hospitality and the team’s attentiveness to our group. They accommodated us comfortably and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. The atmosphere was perfect for conversation and a relaxed gathering.
Several guests commented on how much they loved the food and the overall experience. We’re grateful to the team at Amiya for helping make our evening so memorable, and we look forward to coming back again.
Just say what you want and they guide you what they can recommend. They care for people like family.
Would double recommend the kadak chicken.
I think the service could have been more engaging, especially as they were not so busy on Wednesday evening.
Atmosphere was ok, but I am sure its more lively on busier days…
