Lewis Cafe was an unplanned stop on our way back to St. Louis from the caverns, and it turned out to be a hidden gem. It’s clearly loved by the locals, but as visitors, we found it absolutely worth the visit.
The food was delicious, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was excellent. A charming spot we’re glad we discovered.

First time in Lewis Cafe! I will return! I had a very tasty cheeseburger and fries. The bun had a nice grill on it as well. The fries as a side were good. I was gifted two onion rings and could have eaten a whole plate of those. Very well done. My only critique in the negative was that they were out of pickles! Our waitress Sue was a real sweetie!

We ordered one breakfast plate, one open roast beef plate and one Rueben special. They said the roast beef and breakfast plates were good. The Rueben was one up from the worst one I’ve ever had in my life…it tasted like what old, stinky feet smell like. I couldn’t hardly get half down but I didn’t want to offend my company. I absolutely do not recommend the Rueben.
They have a very limited menu as well. We won’t likely revisit because $50 plus dollars for what we got isn’t acceptable. Service was good although we was the only people there so not busy at all. Atmosphere was good bc it was nice and quiet, lol. I’ve been there years ago and had a much better opinion, sorry I couldn’t rate it higher but I try to be fair.

We stopped in from Texas looking for breakfast, what we found was 5 Daniels all in the same room, turns out the Daniel serving us was the owner and we had wonderful tasting fresh food and an even better conversation! Very personable staff with a great atmosphere! I would highly recommend Lewis Cafe if you are ever in St. Clair MO and are hungry or want a good coffee with a great experience!!

Our party of 4 went for breakfast today and had a 5- Star experience. All of our food was amazing. I especially enjoyed the fresh sausage patty. Yum! The service was great also!! The pies were not ready yet but am going to pick one up. Will definitely be going back!

First time back under new ownership and not disappointed. The food and service was great! I had the breakfast sandwich on rye plus coffee and bread pudding. There’s a lot of other good options on the menu for both breakfast and dinner. It’s nice to have this place back in operation.

Just got back to the UK having driven route 66 for two weeks. This place stood out, the staff are some of the most friendly people we met on our travels, and we met a lot of friendly folk so that is saying something! They did everything they could to make sure we had the most enjoyable and memorable time in their cafe. Food was great, huge portions, the big breakfast comes on three plates!!! Thanks again guys and it was a pleasure to meet you all.
