Ordered an appetizer, Salmon with Vodka sauce pasta for the wife and a pizza for me. My wife’s pasta and Salmon had no flavor. My pizza looked great, but had no taste. I felt like I was eating unsalted bread. I asked the waiter if I could have some oregano or Italian seasoning to put on the pizza. He said they didn’t have any and that I could put the red pepper flakes that was in the dispenser at the table. REALLY?? Never had that happen to me before. Never refilled the water glasses, until we had to ask for more water. Never cleared any of the empty plates. The appetizer dish and small plates sat their during the entire meal. Nice staff, young teenagers, great attitudes, but some of the basics should be taught to them.
Last two visits the food has been plain with no taste at all. Probaly won’t be, it wad a good run….
Combo Pizza (17.99): The pizza isnt’ really a brick oven taste and the dough is very plain. The toppings volume wasnt a great balance and there was little meat. The pizza dough is extremely plain and tasted like store bought pizza or just a standard oven baked pizza. No crisp taste to it, the end crust ended up hard like a rock within minutes of eating it fresh? No flavor to the crust, light on the sauce. It didn’t taste anything like a true brick oven pizza compared to places like Frank Pepe’s or Fireworks Pizza if you know them. Very unsatisfied was it.
Anna’s Sampler (13.99): Fried food is supposed to be simple. This didn’t taste great either. Its suppose to have fried zucchini, fried tenders, and fried mozzarella. The quantity balance was bad like they were rushing, the sizes were all over like they just put their hand in a bag and pulled out a fist full of pieces, whether its hand made or wholesale bought, I don’t care. I had gaint tender pieces (4) that was hard like a rock and breaded more than it needed to be. Zucchini (15) places were all size from crumbs to palm size, good thougg, but batter is thick. Then mozzarella stick (3) were good but only had few pieces. I thought this was supposed to be a proper sampler and sorted nicely, but they just dumped it all in a box and gave it to me. Overall, too thick on batter, no seasoning or taste, just fried food.
Overall quality is from a cheap local pizza store you find at strip malls for $10, is the only way I can compare them. Not a place you want to come back to if you want quality pizza, Ill stick to my Mellow Mushroom in the local area.
Positives: GREAT service. The waitress was quick, polite, and our food came out really quickly. She warrants 5 out of 5 stars. The bread that they served before dinner was delicious as well (buttered, seasoned, and hot). It was a nice start to what we hoped would be a good meal. The price for the entire meal was also very reasonable for 4 people.
Areas of improvement: While the portion size of the lasagna was ginormous(which I appreciated: it was a 7” X 7” hunk of lasagna), the flavor was lacking. I was very hungry, so I ate a good amount, but I couldn’t stomach eating any more after a certain point because it was without flavor. The rest of my family had Italian wedding soup and calamari, and the soup had no seasoning, and was bland. The marinara sauce, like the red sauce on my lasagna, simply lacked any spices which was very disappointing. A little salt or oregano (or ANY spice) would have done wonders.
We had high hopes about this place (we’ve had decent takeout pizza from here before), but the food was very disappointing. The atmosphere and service average to 4 stars, but the food lacks the conviction of good Italian restaurant: 1 star.
