At Dick’s Primal Kitchen we believe that any diet that cuts down on processed food creates healthier people and a healthier planet.
Dick’s Primal Kitchen is, perhaps, the nation’s first diner to systematically and actively incorporate dietary needs into its menu by offering mouthwatering fare made from healthy, humanely raised ingredients. In fact, the servers don’t bat an eyelash when you request a special order or a modification. They encourage it because they know you want to feel good about what you eat.
Gourmet burgers made from thoughtfully-sourced beef, plus milkshakes & wine in a cheery atmosphere.

Great spot for fresh, high-quality food. The BYOB burger was one of the best I’ve had lately, and the Keto Cheesecake was the perfect finish. Friendly atmosphere and solid service. 10/10 would eat here again!

The venison burger is so simple and such a satisfying flavor. The goat cheese and mushrooms really compliment the flavor . I’d gladly pay $15 for that burger. I would not recommend the milkshake however , it’s pricey, not very large and kind of bland . The cheese fries were tasty and a very generous portion though ! Glad I went here, will return ! Also, them putting the accouterments on the side and not directly on the burger was a nice touch .

I had the gluten-free chicken and waffles and it was delicious. It didn’t taste gf at all. My daughter had the goat cheese, mushroom scramble and she sad hers was delicious, too. The prices were reasonable, the quality was great, and the staff was awesome. My daughter said it was one of the best breakfasts she has had in Portland. They also have a room you can rent for free (just no outside food or beverage). The restaurant can accommodate a wheelchair, they have gluten-free and vegan options, and they source locally. Highly recommend. We were there 4/12/25 at 10-10:30 am.

I’ve loved this place for years but had to share the glamor shot I got of their vegan shake. Mocha was a good choice. Their ethical, high quality burgers are divine. I love the mi chili calienté one most. Only drawback is it’s not in an area close to a freeway exit or a neighborhood I go to often. I used to live in this neighborhood but now that I don’t it’s sort of out of the way or I’d otherwise be there more often.

Excellent food! My wife got a gluten free/dairy free burger which tasted like “the real thing” and I got a normal burger. Fries were crispy and salted to perfection. We also tried the parfait (bar form now) and salted Carmel shake. The desserts weren’t amazing, but the rest of the food was top notch. We went at 11:45am on a Thursday. Definitely will come back!

Honestly one of the best things about Dick’s is that they are dog friendly. They are even welcomed allowed inside!
Any burger can be substituted with a Beyond Burger patty. Interestingly this is the only place I’ve ever been asked how I wanted my veggie patty prepared, aka medium or well done.

This place must have changed owners or something! We’ve come to this place several times and was very pleased. It’s been awhile since we dropped in and we won’t be going back. I specifically told the person taking our order that I had a wheat allergy, that’s why I ordered the gluten free chicken sandwich. It was a super dry burger with two chicken strips on it. With a regular bun that I will now have to pay twice for. My bf got a disappointing burger with a thin patty and melted cheese. Truly sad. Specifically went for the poutine fries which they no longer had on the menu. $30 for two burgers that were more bun than burger. Truly disappointed… times are hard and it’s expensive to eat out but when you receive crappy food that is expensive, it’s disappointing to say the least. It was absolutely dead for a Monday night and now I know why… don’t waste your money on this place. Bring back the old owner and menu!

Love this place. Excellent if you care about high quality ingredients, and if you have any dietary restrictions (e.g. no gluten, vegan, keto) they are very well equipped to accommodate. Fries are some of the best I’ve ever had. Really good burger spot in Portland, highly recommended.

I wanted to love this place. I came to try it out because I got a coupon out of the Bee (local newspaper) for buy 1 burger, get another for free. The service was excellent & our burgers came out really fast, but they were super greasy!!! They were a little smaller than one typically gets at a restaurant & had a really gamey flavor. We’re they cooked in lard? We also ordered sweet potato fries which were served beforehand, with our choice of dressing (ranch). They were really tasty, but stuck together in clumps. That’s obviously how they were added to the cooking fat, rather than (filtering?) in separately. They provided ice with our requested water, which was nice.

Truly nothing special. Hard pass on the thing they call garlic aoli. Stick with ketchup for your fries. Burger patties are thin. Not horrible over all, but there are better places to get a burger if you’re going to spend your calories on a burger.
