On a whim, with a few minutes to enjoy a short meal before my next appointments in the area, I decided to stop in and check it out.
OMG!
What I experienced was well beyond by expectation, even though I often try to not have expectations….
At the hostess desk, I was asked if this was my first time there, to which I replied “yes“.
She then very politely explained to me that it was and “all you can eat“ menu, but the work can feel of the place inside, And the packed parking lot on a mid Sunday afternoon. Told me I needed to take the chance.
The variety of menu options was an incredible, and the quality, presentation, and service I enjoyed was better than I’ve seen in any restaurant in a long time.
I left with my tummy full, and my soul reassured that there still is a quality eatery at an affordable price possible for us in these troubling times.
I hardily recommend this place!
NOTE: most portion sizes were much larger than what you saw, because I couldn’t leave them alone long enough to take the shots as in a normal, responsible person might have.
I was hungry, and it was that good!

I wanted to like this place. My friends and family recommend it. Unfortunately, the service was slow and unfriendly. The gimmick here is all you can eat. What they dont tell you is you will order thr first round of food. Then you will wait. And wait… and wait. Im not sure if the server just didnt like me for some reason, but he brought three servings to the people I was with (we were there for between 1½ and 1¾ hours) and brought my wife and I almost one full order. He missed 2 things the first round, so we just ordered it the second time he came around. No big deal…. We waited for just over 45 minutes for it to arrive. Mind you, the table next to us and the two people we were with were served 3x during this time.at the 45 minute mark I decided this place just isn’t for me, and I wanted the check. I had to find our server, as he hasn’t been to our table in a while ( he served the table next to us multiple times without checking in on us) and tell him I just wanted the check and to get out of there. As im telling him this, the chef hands him our order. Great timing. I told him I didnt want it and I just wanted the check so I could head out. Like every other all you can eat sushi joint, they charge you extra for anything you don’t eat and take home. Normally this would be fine, but we had been sitting there for 45 minutes with no food and had already decided to go eat somewhere else. This is when things took a ln unfortunate turn. I walked back over to the server to ask him for the check AGAIN and he was talking about our table to whom I assume is the manager. I told the manager, I didnt want the food, I asked for the check before it came to the table. The server then starts telling me that yea, it can take a while we have a bunch of to go orders. I don’t care about the to go orders. You should serve the people that are SITTING IN YOUR RESTAURANT. Then the server starts to yell at me across the dining room while holding the recept keeper like a weapon ( the block of wood with a big nail sticking out of it). He should really find a new occupation if he cant handle someone having a civil disagreement with him. He missed 2 of our items the first time we ordered (technically he missed one and got one wrong) then made us wait so long we wanted to just leave. Then he started yelling at us across the restaurant and while welding what i assume he thought was a weapon. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. Dude needs to go get himself some counseling, and find work that he can handle. He could have been seriously injured had he moved any closer to us with that thing. He is putting himself in danger and is a liabilityto the restaurant. Im not a person that complains about restaurants online normally. Look at my past reviews. The are almost all positive. This place just needs to hire better staff. What a terrible experience. I hope the server takes my advice and learn to control his anger. Acting that way is not conducive to a successful, happy, and healthy life.

Most the food is excellent except for Tempura which is unseasoned and greasy. The waitstaff are friendly, accurate and attentive. We had a large party of 11 and they accommodated us well including a reservation. The restaurant is esthetically pleasing and clean. They currently serve “all you can eat” but it’s a tad pricey. My meal with hot tea, tax and tip was $35.

This is our new go-to sushi place in Harrisonburg! Excellent quality food for an all-you-can eat establishment, great service, and seems very well-kept. I’m used to all-you-can-eat sushi places having old booths, slow service, portions that are too large, and tempura fried in old oil. Not here! Everything is fresh and perfectly sized. You don’t even have to ask for wasabi or ginger. I will be coming back here for as long as Hokkaido stays open.

First time coming and definitely not the last, very delighted with the food, the service, and experience. We did the all you can eat menu which is currently $24.99. The menu has great sushi and appetizers. Our waiter, Jackson was so kind and helpful!

We have been here over 20x since August of this year and I have nothing bad to say about Hokkaido. You’ve experienced everything to the max. When coming to dine in, the “All you can eat” buffet style is amazing. I’m not a sushi fan but my friends are and they absolutely love it here. I always get the Hibachi; different meats are available: Steak, Chicken, Shrimp and a combination of 2. I’ve tried all types of Hibachi’s and I always come back for more. Customer service is the greatest, they recognize us as soon as we call to place an order. We feel comfortable with the employees and the environment. They make you feel welcomed! I have not been disappointed, and I don’t expect it anytime soon. The love the way they work, excellent people in the community.

I came here because i saw they had my favorite (spider roll) on the menu. But its not available at lunch.
Intead i got a spicy tuna roll, a volcano roll, and a r&g roll. All 3 were ment to be spicy. None were spicy. As you can see in the photo 2 have litteraly no sauces or seasonings at all. Also the volcano roll was smushed flat. The tempura is greasy and the miso soup tastes chemicaly. In fact I am now sitting here with 6 peices left on my plate wondering if i could hide it in a napkin untill i can throw it away, as they charge you extra if you dont finish.
Edit. I threw up.

Went for our daughter’s birthday and I really wanted to enjoy my experience, because it was a special day for her and I deeply love her.
—- Unfortunately, I found the food ultimately disappointing. While they did have gluten free options, they were VERY THIN pieces of fish on LARGE portions of rice. The majority of the food was rice with fish rather than fish with rice.
I mentioned this to the waitress and she said they were unable to lessen the load of rice because it was all you can eat… so rice went in napkins.
As well, the ability to get more food once we completed the portions given was very slow. So we didn’t eat much of a variety because we were hesitant to order a larger quantity and not be able to consume it – there is a stipulation about charging for unfinished food. It took us over an hour and a half to receive and eat four simple rolls with a hint of fish, four rice filled hand rolls, a small amount of hibachi rice and vegetables, and avocado “salad” which is sliced avocado over pieces of cucumber. That is not much for that price.
For a five year old, a nine year old, and two healthy but not large appetited adults it cost us $75 all in. I want to appreciate the experience with our family there, and appreciate that we can easily afford that, however we will not return again.
Consequently, I ended up repeating the food for nearly an hour after. I ate a reasonable portion and am a lean, healthy individual – possibly the oil used.
FYI- we love sushi. Genuinely real sushi and took a punt on bringing our kids here based on reviews. The staff was nice and the atmosphere was kid friendly. The hibachi was able to be ordered without added rice and the shrimp were pretty good. Though we went there for the sushi experience and only got that because the sushi wasn’t particularly fulfilling.
Usually, I only post when we like the food and rarely when we don’t.
Cannot recommend this place.

Super fast delivery, they did it in 13-14 minutes, bravo! The food was very tasty, I try hibachi for the first time and it did not disappoint me! Now I will know about rolls what “hand roll” is, otherwise I could not understand what is the difference from the classic one and realized that I like the classic round rolls more. Shumai with sauce is also quite tasty. It was a surprise to see soup and salad, completely free, thank you very much, very nice!

Excellent all you care to enjoy sushi and hibachi restaurant.
First impressions walking in was the decor was a bit dated and worn, carpet clean but needed replacing, that said the service and was top notch.
The staff is amiable and attentive; all food is made to order.
Sushi was delicious; the ingredients were all fresh.
Hibachi was great, the meat is good quality and cooked just right.
Tempera was a little greasy, but not enough that it impacted the flavor or texture.
Deserts are a bit underwhelming, but the food is so good you aren’t going to leave enough room for desert
