Mak Mak Thai Cuisine on Main Street in Bountiful is really solid. It’s hard to find good Thai food in Utah, and this place gets it right. The food was flavorful and fresh, service was friendly, and everything came out quick. Definitely a place we’ll come back to.

I ordered the Sen Mee Pad See Ew, thinking it may be similar to pad woon sen. It wasn’t but very good. I could’ve eaten two so maybe the portions are a bit small for the minority like me. I ordered a spice level 2 and found it to be a medium. I spiced it up with some readily available chile to a level just short of Thai spicy. Thai spicy is a bit much for me. It’s left my face numb for several hours in the past LOL. Definitely worth trying if you like Thai food. The Popeye energy drink was also excellent and more healthy than most.

I wanted to love this place. I love Thai food & usually drive into salt lake for it. My husband & I decided to bring our 2 teenage boys with us- which we never do, because feeding 4 is expensive. But, we were excited to see all the good reviews & decided to give it a try.
The girl who helped us, Randy, was super nice & helpful. I loved that they didn’t ask for a tip. It leads me to believe they pay their staff well- which I really appreciate.
The place was packed & filled with smoke. Like really thick, heavy smoke. We luckily found a table outside, it was cold, but we couldn’t sit inside.
3 of us got our food pretty quickly. 2 of us ordered Pad Thai- it was not good. My teenage son eats everything (like a normal teenage boy) and he couldn’t finish it. Part of it was super cold, which was also unsettling. I also got the pad Thai- and it wasn’t good. For the price, the portion was very small.
My other son finally got his dish, 10 minutes later- after I had to go in & remind them. His food was also not good. He ate the rice out of it & the fried egg on top.
My husband got yellow curry- he said it was really good.
The eggs rolls were pretty good.
Sadly, last but not least- the ice was bad & gave our drinks a really bad taste.
It was all pretty disappointing- $70 gone, my son came home & had a bowl of cereal.

This was my first visit to a hidden gem on Main Street. The vibe here is great! It’s super clean, the staff was amazingly friendly, and the fact that they don’t accept tips just made me want to tip more! It was great to have several vegan options that were clearly labeled and needed no special accommodation. The food was wonderful as well. I will definitely be returning!

Incredible food and an even better experience! I love that they don’t push for tips—instead, they just ask for a review, which I’m more than happy to leave. It’s so refreshing to enjoy a meal without the awkward tipping pressure. Everything I ordered was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Everything I’ve had at Mak Mak has been absolutely wonderful. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything you order here. The yellow curry is peak comfort food, and the pad gra pow is perfect for when you’re starving after a long day at work. I also must add that it would be totally ludicrous to come here without getting an egg roll (or three)
They have a good local vibe, exactly the kind of place we need on Main Street. The menu is priced very fairly for 2026, and they always get your meal out promptly and piping hot. The customer service is awesome and I would especially like to compliment Randi’s hospitality!
