THEY DON’T HAVE WAITERS/WAITRESSES ANYMORE!!
I tried Steak and Shake again, after the majority of the pandemic had passed. I walked in the Steak and Shake to find that you now have to place your own order for food on an electronic kiosk, fill your own drinks, go get your own food from the counter whenever they get it ready and clean up your table when you’re done eating. This wouldn’t be so bad if Steak and Shake had adjusted their prices to reflect the customer doing everything except literally cooking their own food, but I think their prices even went up a little bit. I live in an area where there are multiple steak and shakes and one Freddy’s steakburger restaurant. Whenever I want a steak burger or similar food, Freddy’s will now be my only choice.

My husband ordered us lunch. My garlic burger was missing everything. I ordered all the normal toppings with lettuce onion pickle and tomato. I opened my burger and found nothing but the bun and patties.

Coming from out of town exhausted and ready for some warm chilly. (From which you can ONLY order your food from a kiosk even for dining in) Spent $60+ on chilly and shakes, a few kids meals. Our super picky eaters wouldn’t eat their hot dog or fries without ketchup “no packets avaliable”. Then the whole reason for even coming was the chilly. They had no crackers at all, not posted or any type of crackers. Total waste of money as we won’t eat without crackers. Tossed the chilly as we left. Hoping to eat the onion rings absolutely disgusting (soggy and mushy) Also received a random extra hamburger that we didn’t order. Staff will just let you know after you order and receive your food that they are out of all condiments to even enjoy your food. I would not recommend stopping here for a great experience.

Yes, stop here if you are traveling and need a spot to rest with a delicious bite to eat, do it! You won’t be disappointed.
Our son loves Steak n Shake, the ones at home have all closed. He searches for them as we travel, but we have a strict star rating. He pleaded that the lower than 4.0 rating was because they have kiosks for ordering. We were glad we stopped. The burgers were delicious, hot fries, delicious shakes, and extremely clean dining area and restrooms. Also, the people working were delightful!
Please don’t hold it against them that the style of the restaurant has changed. After all, they kept showing up and others did not, don’t let the doors to your Steak n Shake close! Keep going, drive thru or dine in, just keep them open.

The food and service are always good . Stop complaining that there are no waitresses anymore. That has nothing to do with the quality of the food.There are only 3 people working at this restaurant every time I go and they have a good attitude. They do their best to get the food out fresh and fast. They were ready to close last night and still let me walk up to the drive- thru and order. The ‘s were perfect as always

For starters if you look at the photo you’ll see that they have hand crafted: hand dipped milk shakes all natural, no preservatives. This is incorrect they have now machined AKA soft served ice cream with syrup which if anybody knows anything about syrup it’s all preserved there’s nothing real about it. The next thing I would like to talk about is they no longer have their chili juice which is what makes her chili Mac really good, in my opinion! I have never been more disappointed in my life I normally every time I write a review it’s a good and positive one it’s a shame that I have to write a negative one for a place that I’ve gone to ever since I was a kid. They used to be running with business now it’s a ghost town!
