Wow this place so far exceeded expectations from minute one. We came in with my elderly aunt and everyone was so attentive and helpful. The hostess was able to get us seated in the tavern area fairly quickly in spite of them being very busy. The atmosphere was very interesting and there were intricate chalk drawings on the walls. The noise level was quieter than I would expect in a pub atmosphere so we were able to chat. The food was incredible, the oysters were super fresh and my only suggestion is to serve these with fresh lemon. For an entree I had French onion soup and a toasted mini baguette and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken which was also delicious and my aunt had the fish and chips which she seemed very pleased with.

We had a very enjoyable dinner, though the fried chicken was too salty for our taste. But the mashed potatoes were great, and my salmon dish was fine. And the hot brownie dessert was fabulous!
The waitstaff was super, too.

Went here with my best friend and we split one of the specials, a potatoe puff in a griddle and it was AMAZING! We also each got the blackened haddock tacos which were EXCELLENT. Victoria P is a queen and clocked that we were splitting by what we ordered AND she even split the cost of the appetizer for us. She was funny and attentive, what a great person! We loved you Victoria P and Montsweag!

Very great restaurant on my way back to Boston! I love my lobster roll a lot, the raw oyster is nice as well. The risotto is little too creamy. Service is nice, the gentlemen is very familiar with the menu. The whole bill is little over budget, but really nice try!

Most of the dishes were exceptional!
The Angry Mussels were fresh and the broth “oh so good”!
Best clam chowder and best frech onion soup we’ve ever had! The clam chowder wasn’t thick like most places and the french onion soup bursted with flavor and wasn’t so salty like most restaurants.
The steak salad was fine, nothing spectacular, but was good.
The steak tip entree was excellent!
We were impressed by the quality of the food.
The service was fine but very slow!
We arrived at 6:05 pm and still hadn’t received our soups at 6:45 pm. Not a place to go if you’re in a hurry.
We came back the next day for lunch and both soups were still exceptional.
The fish tacos were excellent but the fried chicken was not “southern fried chicken”, it is more chicken fried steak chicken because fried chicken comes with bones. It was still very good. Our chocolate chip cookie in a skillet topped with ice cream was good. I would recommend having the ice cream on the side, the ice cream is 3x the cookies! Again, service was slow We sat outside and barely saw out waitress.

This is becoming my favorite restaurant in the nearby route 1 corridor. I had among other things last night, the calamari appetizer and it was delicious with a spicy and thick jalapeno tomato doing sauce and the tender squid was so lightly battered it almost floated above the plate. The blackened fish tacos were also delicious.

We ate here as we were passing through on our last day of our Maine vacation. I have eaten haddock daily from Greenville, ME to Lubec and parts in between on this trip, and this was the best I’ve had. The fries were prepared uniquely and were oh so good! The portion sizes were large as reviews stated. It was a very nice experience for our last day.

Unfortunately had an underwhelming experience, it was my first time here and I will not be trying it again. The food was pretty good, except the fried haddock was dry and very salty. The service on the other hand was pretty bad. There was an issue with our reservation for the igloo, they tried to brush us off and didn’t seem like they wanted to resolved the issue. Even though they had the incorrect number in their system when they tried to rebook our reservation, seems like there are some scheduling issues amongst staff. And the way they went about it was handled very poorly. Pretty disappointed…

This place is a hidden gem. The food was delicious. Most flavorful steak I’ve ever had. The restaurant atmosphere was so charming. The waiter and chef were very accommodating to my dairy allergy. Highly recommend!! We had such a great meal. Thanks!

We had a delightful dining experience out on the patio on a sunny late May Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend the fried haddock sandwich, perfect texture and delicate crispness. Would definitely come back!
