this was one of those places you pass by while driving, and turn around to stop and check it out. I did like the ambiance of the place. the server was sweet for the few times I saw her when she checked on me. The food was disappointing and bland. I couldn’t even finish because one I did get full, but also well, no flavor. The breading on the pickles was so thin, it was basically just rolled in flour and fried for 30 seconds. Mac and cheese tasted like flour and then the burger just tasted like grease. pictures make it all look better than what it really is. I wanted to love it because it’s a small family like place but sadly, I can’t.

Another great visit to Jake’s. Greeted at the door and got seats immediately. Fantastic service – polite, food brought out quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. Refreshing to have a young server so polite. Had the brisket with beer battered fries, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese with hush puppies. Everything was delicious. Fries were crispy on outside and creamy inside. The brisket was tender, juicy and just the right amount of sauce. The other meal was a half rack of ribs with sour cream and bacon potato salad, hush puppies and a roll. Fall off the bone and just the right amount of bbq sauce. We took dessert to go. The banana pudding and coconut pie were a treat when we got home.

We expected better quality food. The price is reasonable, but the food was lackluster. The standout items were the pulled pork and their BBQ sauce. Service was slow but the waitress was very pleassant, and responsive.

Wonderful barbecue. Sauces included Memphis and Carolina based vinegar. Ambiance was barbecue joint. Great place to eat but not exactly romantic. We split a row meat plate and added hush puppies as a starter. We got out for under $20 per person. Brisket and chicken were both excellent. For sides the onion rings were good as were the green beans.

Well we dined here with our family of 5 and spent over $100 on our tab. Then we were asked if we could hold our 1 year old child because they needed the high chair for another child. The lady asked if she could hold my child or if I could hold my child since we were finishing up. We quickly paid our tab and LEFT. Jake’s place needs to invest in more high chairs it seems.
Edit to add: I’ve just simply never been asked to hold my child because someone else needs a high chair that my child has already been sitting in….. we need it also?! You simply should have told the other family “I believe that family is finishing up soon and once they do I will bring that high chair right over!” It just seemed odd and targeted because we had just finished eating and seems like yall wanted us out. If I wanted to hold my squirming 1 year old at a dinner table with plates and drinks all around I wouldn’t have even asked for the high chair. You are the one assuming we were done! But yes after being asked that loudly and publicly we were ready to leave.

The pork was flavorless sloppy soup. Clearly a day or two old and reheated. The ribs were boring and flavorless. The crab cake was all bread crumbs. The ‘pulled chicken’ was nasty overcooked breast that was inedible. Service was intermittent at best – no drink refills offered but that was mainly because she walked off and we never saw her again until we decided it was time to leave. The sides were boring and either canned or store bought run-of-the-mill sides. I’ve eaten BBQ in every corner of this country and this ranks at the bottom. Don’t wast your time.

Unfortunately, my green beans kinda look like they went through a blender before I got them. The Mac and cheese was decent.. the hushpuppies were great.. the brisket was decent.

The double chocolate cake was not good. In my opinion, it was hard and tasted old. They need to ditch that recipe off the menu…or get it elsewhere

But the whipped cream served with it was obviously fresh and seemingly homemade

Neat looking little place, seated quickly at 1245. Not crowded when we arrived, but three or four more tables did have people before we left
Probably should’ve paid attention to the lack of vehicles in the parking lot, especially at lunchtime. We passed several other restaurants to get here. Who’s parking lots were quite full.

The onion rings were good, not the best we’ve had but good
The fries that came with the meal were actually very good

My wife had the pulled chicken, the chicken itself had zero smoked flavor or grilled flavor. It was more like chicken you would have done in a crockpot. The sauce that was on the pulled chicken was bland at best and the chicken was smothered in it.

I had the pulled pork. And was woefully under impressed.
It was edible, but certainly was not a stand out

The side of beans sauce was very, very sweet, did not care for it.

I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone because we will not be going back

This was our first visit in a while. I so much wanted to like Jake’s, but I was quite disappointed. I had the brisket sandwich and baked beans. Unlike what I am accustomed to at other restaurants, the brisket was very bland and chewy. I kept having to pull big chunks of nearly inedible fat off of the meat. In order to help it go down, I smothered it in their (very good) barbeque sauce. Even though I remained hungry, I did not finish it. I went looking for insight into describing the meat, and I found it in another patron’s earlier review of Jake’s, the brisket tasted and had texture as if though it was just boiled.
My wife thought that her shrimp po boy was OK. We both liked the baked beans.
Everyone on staff was super nice and friendly. Although we both thought that the place was uncomfortably loud, even when they were only half full. I did hear other customers say they enjoyed their meal. Maybe Jake’s just isn’t for us.
