What a wonderful treat to visit this institution and the best part was that we got to taste some authentic Chicago style dogs right in our neighborhood!

Our order was prepared fresh and came out piping hot despite it being a cold Sunday!

Place is a clean and fresh, airy and sunlit , so very inviting and surrounded by music and industrial age memorabilia!

The dogs were authentic , the onion rings and fries were fresh and crispy and the beef sandwich was awesome !

What happened to Portillo’s? I used to live in Chicago and loved the chopped salad. Twice now, I’ve ordered it and it’s basically just lettuce. I counted 12 small chunks of chicken (“chunk” is generous). maybe 10 tiny little pieces of bacon bits, and some onion. I just paid $13 for a small bowl of lettuce. I also think the bowl is smaller than it used to be. I guess no more Portillo’s for me. That’s too bad…and would explain why the place is never full.

I was out taking care of a few things and wanted to pick up something to eat before heading back. The weather was terrible — pouring nonstop — so I really didn’t feel like parking and going inside anywhere. I specifically searched for somewhere with a drive-thru, and since I’ve been making it a point to try spots I haven’t been to before, I figured it was finally time to check out Portillo’s.

When I pulled up, Jaydon was outside in the rain taking orders, and he couldn’t have been more pleasant. He greeted me with a big smile and such a positive attitude despite the weather. That alone stood out.

I ordered a cheeseburger combo with fries and a Coke, and everything came out hot, fresh, and really tasty. It hit the spot. What made the visit memorable, though, was the service. Jaydon was easily one of the friendliest drive-thru employees I’ve ever interacted with. His attitude made the whole experience better.

Overall, it was a really solid first visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Always wanted to check out Portillo’s and I’m glad I did! The interior is very reminiscent of Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe and Cracker Barrel, lots of nick knacks for decorations and the ceiling beaming with more decorations that’s unique to the atmosphere. I think Portillo’s is known for their hot dogs but I tried their loaded cheeseburger meal and was taken aback by how fresh and delicious it was! Portillo’s fries are one of the best fries I’ve had, in my opinion. They’re crinkly fries, crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Salted to perfection and goes down with a Dr. Pepper from their beverage dispenser. If you plan to dine in on a warm day, you might want to bring along a sweater. It’s frigid in the dining hall – I love it!

I was out running errands and wanted to grab food before heading home. It was pouring rain so I didn’t really want to get of my car. I was looking for a place with a drive thru. I’ve been on a quest to try new (to me) places I’ve never tried so I decided to finally try Portillo’s. Jaydon was standing outside in the rain waiting to take my order. He had a big smile on his face and was very friendly. I ordered the cheeseburger meal with fries and a coke. Everything was hot and fresh and so good!! Jaydon was probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever spoken with at a drive thru. He’s definitely an asset to this restaurant. Great experience, I will be back.

It was ok, I got the dry steak sandwich but not much flavor. The cheeseburger was pretty good with a grilled taste. They do not do military discounts, They should think about it. I would not go back on my own. Owner please don’t respond like you did with others on bad reviews, you see what we are saying so now time to make changes.

Super cute decor, lots of seating available. We got our food very quickly and the staff was very nice. I got one hotdog and one garden style hotdog and I honestly like the garden style hotdog better both for Chicago style and they had this bright green relish and pickles, and all sorts of things on there. It was absolutely delicious though. My son got the beef sandwich. It was super thinly sliced and had lots of flavor. It was super juicy and bun and tasty. We shared some crinkle cut fries and they were fine. The big show supper here was the chocolate cake shake. It really does taste just like a slice of chocolate cake in the most specific way. We got a large and between two people we barely got through half of it. They sell some cute stuff at the entrance and the bathrooms were very clean.

As a former Chicago person, I was excited to try portillo’s here in Texas…
The classic dipped, hot and sweet pepper sliced beef looks the same, smells the same and tastes the same.

The two significant differences are:
1. Zero line (about a 5 minute wait, instead of a 30-minute line and then attend to 20 minute wait for the food)
2. The menu in Chicago land had 100 different things and the one down here in Texas just had the basics, sliced beef, hamburgers, hot dogs….

I was not disappointed

Decided to try this place for the first time. As you can see below of the images. One is what its supposed to look like and what you actually get. Absolutely horrible! Was the large popular number 1 meal they say. Haha. What a joke. The meat was so soggy and horrible flavor. Don’t know who looks at delivery made orders but this was nasty and will never order from you again. I’ve had Chicago style food in Chicago. This was not it.

I want to start by saying the food was amazing, fresh and delicious. My family and I waited on the patio for our number to be called and come to find out we can’t hear the numbers being called outside. I went inside and spoke to Emily and asked if our number had been called it was a while since we ordered and she said yes we called it about 4 times . My mistake… But instead of just handing me our food she offered to remake it and that just set the tone for everything!!! She was absolutely the sweetest and most helpful person I’ve encountered in a long time!!! Thank you so much Emily for making our first time experience an amazing one!!!!
