Came here for drinks as we ambled down the mall. Decent service for a Friday night, not great but good.

They have a terrific whiskey and bourbon selection. Good beer choices as well.

They have mocktails that were good.

Great decor and atmosphere, old timey feel to it.

Would definitely return.

I was looking forward to a relaxed evening here after hearing that Dave Matthews once worked at this location. The wings and drinks exceeded expectations, and the customer service was outstanding. The atmosphere created by both the staff Bruce & Virginia as well as the fellow patrons, made the experience genuinely enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend stopping by.

You guys were phenomenal

We stopped in here for drinks and food prior to seeing a show at the Jefferson Theater on a weekend in February. A friend recommended this place to us prior to coming.

We sat a the bar. The place wasn’t super busy but they had a good amount of customers coming and going. We had a couple drinks then ordered chicken fingers to share. They had some good sounding choices on the menu but we weren’t too hungry. They were part of the happy hour specials. They were hot and good. I liked the honey mustard.

The bartenders were friendly and personable. The atmosphere was easygoing and casual. They have live music Fridays and Saturdays I think. Better check the social media or website to confirm before you go expecting it and I’m wrong.

I would go here again if in the area.

If I could rate zero Stars. I would. We walked in around 5:15 on a Saturday. We sat at the bar. We were there for about 5 minutes and nobody greeted us. There were only two other people at the bar and the bartender was busy chatting with them.
We left without ever being acknowledged. The Whiskey Jar was great.

My name is Brittany Morgan. My 15-year-old son,is a dedicated baritone saxophonist as well as tenor and alto who has played since the sixth grade and is now in his freshmen year of high school. He currently performs with his high school’s performance, concert, and jazz bands, participates in marching band and the Orange Community Band, and recently earned first chair for baritone sax in the District 13 (that’s includes 10 counties )concert band for the second consecutive year.

We visited on Sunday nights, January 11th and 18th, specifically because of Mr. Dearth’s reputation as an educator and advocate for aspiring musicians. While my son had a wonderful experience with the welcoming band members on the 11th, our experience this past Sunday was deeply disappointing.

Mr. Dearth was not present and unengaged for most of the night wondering in and out of the bar. After playing several songs, Adam was publicly addressed by Mr. Dearth from the stage. Mr. Dearth stated that participants “have to know what they are doing to be up here,” specifically telling my son, “By the way, I meant that for you,” before walking out of the bar.

This public shaming of a young musician was unprofessional and unnecessary. My son has worked incredibly hard on his craft, and this interaction has been More likely completely discouraging. There were many constructive ways to offer feedback or clarify participation expectations, but choose to publicly embarrass a student does not reflect a commitment to the musical community or the youth.

Despite traveling from a neighboring county to support the Charlottesville music scene, we no longer feel welcome and will not be returning and Mr.Dearth has made I clear that we are not up to his or Millers standards.

This was my second time visiting. The chicken is so good, and I love their herb-y ranch sauce for dipping. This little spot is so quaint, I love it. My partner got swiss cheese & mushroom hot dog and that was the best thing in his opinion. The food prices are very reasonable.

They always have lots of cocktails, and even some canned N/A mocktails too.

Do you like Dave Matthews Band? This is where Dave used to work before he made it big!

Really cool and quaint atmosphere and the staff are attentive and friendly!

Grab a cheese steak, a burger, or even Dave’s famous Reuben named after him.

Located within the Downtown Mall area, there are plenty of things to do, but Miller’s is a must!

I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat, a drink at the bar, or hanging out with friends and if you’re lucky, catching live music!

Awesome place with very affordable food. The burger was 10 bucks, but three dollars was taken off for happy hour. Our server Graham really took care of us.
