This has become one our favorite places to have dinner and the daily specials make it hard to pass up. I’m not suggesting that you eat here to save a buck and pass on quality, I say save a buck and have good food. We have tried the Monday Pizza Special and the Friday All You Can Eat Shrimp and AYCE Fish Specials and we like them both. On Mondays, the large pizza is half price (does not include the Lobster and Shrimp Pizza). With this deal, the most you’ll drop for a pizza is $12.00. On our first trip, we tried the Voodoo Chicken and Shrimp Pizza (regular price $23.99). Blackened chicken and shrimp, atop a spicy Cajun cream sauce, topped with sliced tomato, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Let’s start with the crust. Super thin under the toppings and will not hold up the load if you lift the slice off the plate. Use a fork and knife for the the first few bites to lighten the load, then you can pick it up. Just a little thicker crust at the edges. An excellent tasting crust, very much like a pizza dough in Chicago. We were not impressed with this pizza. The best flavor came from the cheese which they do not skimp on. The chicken is seasoned pieces combined with similarly seasoned shrimp pieces. If you were to close your eyes and take a bite, you’d get a cream sauce taste, salty cheesiness, and some non-definable protein pieces. Didn’t taste like chicken or shrimp, but didn’t taste like anything else either. I hit it with a little hot sauce and enjoyed the cheese goodness. On another visit we tried the Boardwalk Style Double Sausage Pizza (also $23.99 regular price). Loads of Italian sweet & hot sausage, pepperoni, sweet onions, roasted red peppers, green bell peppers, San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan. This pizza is what pizza is all about! Great tasting Italian sausage that has the right amount of fennel in it that makes it distinctively Italian. All the toppings played well together and the hot sausage has only a little heat. Absolutely a great pizza. Can’t wait to go back and try other varieties on their menu or create our own.
We have also tried the Friday All You Can Eat Shrimp and AYCE Fish Specials which are both $15.99. Even though they are the same price, you cannot get a combo of fish and shrimp – it’s one or the other and you cannot switch from one to the other after finishing one plate. You have a choice of fried, grilled or blackened shrimp which are served with fries and slaw and you can switch between the cooking styles if you order more shrimp. I have tried all three styles on multiple visits. The fried are not the heavily battered or breaded style you usually find. These have a very light, almost tempura style coating that I found to be quite tasty. The grilled isn’t exactly grilled as we know grilling. There are no grill marks, no real char marks at all. I think the shrimp are just cooked on a flat grill top. They have a great shrimp flavor. I actually prefer the blackened as opposed to grilled. They are basically the same shrimp, but have a creole or Cajun seasoning. They’re not on the grill long enough to get blackened at all. They give you a lot of shrimp on the first plate, but if you want more, just ask and they bring more quickly. I have also tried the All You Can Eat Fish Fry served with fries and slaw. The fish is very good, moist without too much breading. I recommend it for fish fans. I happen to enjoy shrimp more than fish so I will zero in on that when I go back. The fries that come with these meals are best when they first come out and are piping hot. I’m not a fan after they’ve cooled off.
They say it’s Happy Hour All Day, Every Day. That’s because their drink prices are great.
Lite drafts $3, Shock Top drafts $4, Guinness Draft $6, Iced Tea $2.99, and Rum Punch $4.99. Yes, a Rum Punch, in a pint glass, with rum for $4.99. Ask about drink specials. Go to Busters, enjoy some beverages, live music very often, sports on TV’s, great food and have fun!
There is live music a lot of the time, but it’s not so loud that you can’t have a conversation. Always a good time at Busters.
