No Filter (formerly Ugly Mug) in Garner feels like a great breakfast and brunch spot that also happens to serve coffee.
The drink menu is huge, and it’s clearly geared more toward flavored latte lovers than coffee purists. If you like creative, dessert-style drinks, you’ll have plenty to choose from.
Drinks:
I ordered a cortado, but it came out more like a breve. Not a big deal, but not quite what I was expecting. I also tried The Alchemist — an iced latte with white chocolate, English toffee, and raspberry. It was enjoyable, but definitely flavor-forward, with the syrups taking center stage more than the espresso.
Food:
This is where the place really shines. I ordered the chicken biscuit with Sriracha hot honey, and it was excellent. Crispy chicken, a great biscuit, and the sweet heat from the sauce tied everything together perfectly.
Overall:
If you’re looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot with lots of fun drink options, No Filter is a solid choice. If you’re hunting for a specialty coffee experience focused on the coffee itself, this probably isn’t the destination — but the food alone makes it worth the stop.

Amazing experience at Ugly Mug Coffee Shop! We came in with a party of 5 adults and 2 kids, and everything was fantastic. The food was delicious and the coffee was excellent. The service really stood out; James took great care of us he was friendly, attentive and made us feel very welcome. We’re excited to hear they’re opening a new location and are already looking forward to visiting again. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Mediterranean chicken sandwich hit the spot (the fries were so dang good) as did the avocado toast.
The grandsons ordered chicken and waffles and I must confess, I’m glad I was asked to cut it up for them because I got to try a bite. YUMMY!!!

First time visit. Was out exploring after a snow fall and wanted to find a new coffee shop that had espresso and custom coffee. This place is set back off the main road a small but cozy setting, offering a wide array of coffee delights, Breakfast and lite lunches. A well planned out small business with just the right toch of coziness. Excellent espresso, the smell of fresh beans sparks your sensors. The staff, is down to earth, friendly and willing to explain the difference of coffees, and such. Definitely worth the stop.

Lemon cake and coffee is a good way to start the morning! In a study performed by me today, coffee has been scientifically proven to increase rates of enjoyment of matutinal activity. Decorated for the season and walking a perfect line between busy and quiet enough to relax. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Tried this coffee house for the first time. Walked in and there was a long line. I thought “should we stay, is it worth it?”
Let me tell you, the service is excellent and very efficient. We received our order within 10 minutes of placing it. Fried Green Tomato BLT was so yummy!! Coffee was smooth and excellent. We will return to try some more menu items next time!!

My family and I love supporting local businesses, so we decided to try this place out today for the first time and it was an AMAZING experience. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. There were so many coffee/drink choices on the menu and from what we tried they were also stellar. On top of everything, the service was immaculate. James was so attentive and made the experience that much better. We will definitely be back and make this a regular go to! A gem of a place for sure, highly recommend.

Oooh so I’m new in Raleigh, NC and was interested in a coffee bar! Oooh to my surprise they had great coffee and plant milk, I ordered chicken & waffles! Sooooo yummy! A nice filet lightly breaded & packed with tons of flavor. The waffle had a nice vanilla flavor. Fresh maple was served with it. The price is I also found out they’re originally from FL & owners moved up after the Hurricanes! The staff was very personable & very helpful in picking what to order!

This is THE place for specialty coffees and drinks and breakfast sandwiches! I love the steam punk design and decor. Very clean and super busy, but the wait to fulfill our breakfast order was super duper fast! The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, and moved with urgency! Jeremy was high energy and very friendly! Will recommend and come again!

My fiancé and I just moved to the area and I love to support a local coffee shop. This place did not disappoint and I’m so glad that we found this place! The breakfast wrap was out of this world. My latte was insanely delicious and their matcha is so yummy. The staff was so kind and loved my dog and brought him a pup cup. Just a really cool joint and I will be coming in at least once a week 🙂
