Hours Visited: Breakfast
This review reflects my personal experience as both a customer and a Chef.
Overall Impression
Silver Diner is a relatively new location, conveniently situated near Route 50 and close to my home. I had been meaning to visit for some time and finally stopped in for breakfast. The restaurant was nearly empty upon arrival.
Highlights & Observations
Service: Unfortunately, service was quite slow. It took an extended amount of time to take our order, despite the low volume of guests.
Breakfast Dishes: The food was underwhelming. The dishes lacked proper seasoning and overall depth of flavor. Nothing stood out as memorable or distinctive.
Horchata: Excessively sweet and far from an authentic horchata profile, missing the balance and character of the traditional recipe.
Final Thoughts
This location would benefit greatly from having a visible floor manager who actively engages with guests, gathers feedback, and ensures service and food quality are meeting expectations. There is potential here, but execution needs refinement to truly raise the bar.
Taste & Quality Rating: ⭐ 5/10
When the food arrived, the steak still had onion straws on it. She asked who it was for at the table, and I reminded her mine was without onion straws. She took it back and returned shortly after with what appeared to be the same steak, just without the onion straws on top.
After I started eating, I found onion straws in the dish that had clearly just been brushed off. For someone with an allergy, that is not acceptable. When I brought it up, I was told a fresh dish had been prepared, but it was obvious it had not been.
I will never trust this place after that experience. When it comes to allergies, honesty and care matter. Never lie; it always comes back.
Imagine, I got so busy enjoying my dinner that I actually forgot to click pictures of it! Haha. Maybe next time.
We ordered a ceasers salad, lemon chicken (the farro was beyond delicious), tomato bisque (obviously a winter fav!) And the kids enjoyed pasta.
I definitely look forward to trying more of the menu.
We love the classic diners of the twentieth century, but Silver Diner has improved greatly on the food, enhanced the decor, and updated the classic diner with the farm to table process and lively twists on classic fare.
A special shoutout to Carlos for providing outstanding service. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. His positive attitude and professionalism really stood out and made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
Highly recommend this place—and if you’re lucky enough to have Carlos as your server, you’re in great hands!
