Reviews
i would like to preface by saying they told us afterwards that this was their first night having to pre cook the meat before bringing it to the table to be kept warm – it was not warm, there was a singular candle under the grill which was basically cold – because they had to stop using outdoor grills for health department reasons. i feel like they should’ve this before we waited for 40 mins, especially since we were a bigger group who were most likely going to sit outside.
we sat there for 1.5 hrs before half of our party had to leave for prior commitments, usually when you are sat down (not including waiting time) at any restaurant you shouldn’t leave hungry, however that half of our group had only miso soup, rice, and a little sushi because they kept losing our orders somehow. we must’ve put in around 2-3 bulk orders of brisket, pork belly, and bulgogi, but received around 2 servings of bulgogi and 1 pork belly serving for 8 people over the 1.5 hrs. we spoke multiple times to servers, but were just met with the fact that the kitchen was backed up.
this is not even including the quality of the meat, which is significantly more fat than meat, but i do understand it is partly what you pay for. the first time i went, i did receive this extremely gray pork belly that was beside a normal looking slice of pork belly – enclosed picture below.
continuing on, one of the group members in the morning who stayed and ended up eating more of the meat threw up afterwards. before we left, they did take two people off of the bill because of the three who left without basically eating anything so thanks for that.
i just want to leave this review because i’ve now been here twice, once with a smaller group and sat inside and once with a larger to sit outside, and i think i can pass fair judgement now where i would never come back and suggest if possible to find a different place for higher quality meat and service. however if the price is the thing that attracts you here, then that’s your prerogative.
There’s a heated outdoor tent with ample seating and a roomy indoor area as well. The staff? Hustling hard. Despite the crowd, they had a smooth rhythm going and took our order pretty quickly.
As advertised, it’s all-you-can-eat sushi AND BBQ. Now, if you’re expecting Michelin-star quality, you might want to realign those expectations. But if you’re here for a fun night out with friends, an alright flavour profile, and good value, this is your spot.
Portions lean small, but that’s a plus in my book. You can order more as you go, which beats overstuffed plates and food guilt.
Heads-up: there’s a 14% service charge automatically added to the bill, plus a 4% fee for card payments. Bring cash if you want to dodge that little surcharge surprise.
Free parking in the back (at least on a Thursday), and overall, this place delivers great value with good vibes. Not haute cuisine, but a hot ticket for a casual feast.
