If you’re looking for quality diner-style food with a home style, Vermont touch…come to Rosie’s. We came in for coffee and had a wonderful time.

The decor is very Vermont, one room, video included, is adorned with different hand-made quilts.

They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and a “quality cup of coffee,” as my grandfather says. I got toast and a grilled tomato. Every table is crowded with creamer, jellies, butters, and peanut butter single-serves. This is something I love.

It was my grandfather’s 90th birthday and they didn’t question my request for a birthday candle and to “just carry it to him because getting a dessert would upset him”. They put the candle in my hand, lit it, and gave me a smile. They were our first stop on a quality birthday adventure.

We were in, out, needy, and treated with generosity, hospitality, and kindness. Definitely go to Rosie’s and then go back again.

Went on February 14th for dinner. I called to see if I could or needed to make a reservation because my party size was on the bigger side (party of 6). When talking to them on the phone they said we don’t do reservations but to take my name, my party size and what time I’d like to be there so I gave him all that information. Got there about 15-20 minutes earlier than I had mentioned on the phone walked in gave him my name. Told them that I had called earlier. They looked at some paper and said well you’re not supposed to be here until the time I gave them over the phone I said I’m sorry. Over the phone you said you didn’t take reservations. I figured it would be okay if I walked in a few minutes early. The guy behind the counter was very nice and said that if they had a table open though, the host could seat us. The waitress came over. Took our drink order about 20 minutes after we sat down. Took another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Then when she brought our drinks over she finally took our food order. Took about 45 minutes to get our food. Never came and checked on us in between but went to several other tables multiple times. When we finally got our food half of our food was cold and hot. The garlic bread that was on the menu was a piece of regular loaf bread. Half toasted the other half was soggy. Not a good experience

This place is a not-so-finely aged tourist trap. The prices are insane compared to anywhere else in town. The quality is the same as decades ago so don’t expect seasoning. Perfect place for an elderly retired couple with money. If Middlebury was not made up of mostly this demographic, Rosie’s surely would not be around today.

We have been going to Rosie’s for years. Every aspect of this restaurant has continued to decline. The prices are outrageous. The place is filthy. Tables not cleaned, the floors are covered in food, the bathrooms are filthy. The food quality continues to decline – and the portions are extremely small and the food is sometimes cold. It’s a shame that it’s not what it used to be. I hope some thought and effort goes into improving what used to be.

A warm & welcoming venue

Feels like a lodge upon entering. Good wide open space with comfortable booth seats.

The food is good and prices are reasonable. Really enjoyed the Ravioli in cream sauce. Service is courteous & efficient.

If this venue is symbolic of Vermont then I’m loving it. Great vibes

Charming breakfast spot right on the main drag. The food was delicious and things like the eggs and quality of the bacon were all top notch. The staff were friendly and mostly attentive and the prices were very reasonable for how great it was. It’s also a really nice space inside and out and they allowed dogs on the patio. Can’t wait to come back again

I was here on July 14, and again today (August 7) and I was not disappointed at all in either meal! Friendly service, fast, reasonable prices, and a good selection. I had breakfast both times, so I can’t say how lunch and dinner are, but judging by the full parking lot, my guess is all their meals are good. I don’t get through Middlebury very often, but when I do, this is a must-stop!
November 18 2024 Edit: I came by here once again on a medical trip, expecting the usual quality and service, and I was highly disappointed. First, the person waiting my table was unsmiling and inattentive. Had to ask twice for water. The other person serving other tables was the opposite! I ordered fish & chips, and what they brought me was NOT what any restaurant would normally call “Fish and Chips!” While she assured me they were cooked in-house, what I got was a plate with very dry fish sticks… looking like they came out of a Gorton’s box. The coleslaw was also watery. In short, not the quality meal as expected from Rosie’s. Maybe it was the time of year. But if I come here again, it won’t be for Fish & Chips! For the same price, I could have got two nice filets, chips, and great coleslaw at 99 Restaurant in Plattsburgh, my destination, if I hadn’t stopped at Rosie’s. I DO hope this isn’t representative of this meal or this time of year. Until I find out otherwise, I have reduced my full five-star recommendation to Three.

We were looking for a place to have breakfast in the Middlebury area and Rosie’s was the one we chose. Food was good and we were greeted by a bilingual (spanish) server which I thought was pretty cool. They were out of corn beef which wasn’t a big deal because the have a lot more options to choose from. – In regards to the food, my only suggestion is, they should serve local Maple syrup. (I realize is more expensive) but quality over quantity is always more important to me.

This is the third time that we have gone to Rosie’s restaurant and each time we have gotten sick! Somewhere there is a cross-contamination of food. We have gone to their breakfast buffets, lunch, and dinners.
3 people,3 drinks and SHARED dessert, with tip,( now they charge you for using a card.)$108.00…..Thank you but no!
The waitresses are friendly.
The gentleman that sits at the front desk needs to be replaced. He acts like it’s a chore to be there.
God help us all…. REPLACE your damn chef!
Strawberry rhubarb cobbler should not be Gray, tasteless and cold.
