My father and I stopped here to have a quick bite before we went to be with family at the hospital. Everything was nice and the lady that waited on us was very friendly, efficient and caring. I cant get her name but she does travel a ways to work here if that helps. So.eone that travels this distance is a gem of an employee and a great job she did.

The last 3 stops have been worse than terrible. My children didn’t want to go, but I convinced them anyways, to only be let down once again. Our server, Adrian, was super amazing- however played a part of the misfortunes too. 1. My daughter ordered the Sonny’s Steak Burger Big Deal. It comes out “naked”. It was a bun, a piece of meat, and NOTHING. Nothing else at all. When I ask Ms. Adrian if she could get toppings for my kiddos burger, she was happy to help! I couldn’t understand why it come out without any though. That’s not the norm. I ordered the Pick 3 Combo. 2 Pulled Pork and 1 Chicken Tenders (without sauce specifying these were going home to my fur children). When food comes out, my son says, “That’s not yours mom. Did she bring someone else’s food to our table?” I flagged Ms. Adrian down and ask if we could get the tenders without sauce. She was happy to help and added, “she didn’t know why our food took so long or why it wasn’t accurate, there were 3 guys working back there.” My Daughter’s Friend who join us ordered BBQ Pulled Pork Signature. She didn’t eat a bite of her food. I was starting to get frustrated when she said, “I will warm it up when I get home.” I looked at her food, then looked at mine. It was ordered at the same time and come out at the same time, but looked like it was made 2 hours prior. (I have photos to share) My Daughter-in law’s Pulled Pork Sandwich come out beautiful. My Son’s Pick 3 Combo of Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, and Sweet & Smokey Ribs come out but had me trying to wave Ms. Adrian down again. The servings were for a mouse and very disappointing. He’s a 19 yo young man, not a tot. My son ask me to share my food with him so that we didn’t run our server to death, and that worked for me. We were far passed ready to go and didn’t want any further letdowns. Ms. Adrian was apologetic and willing to assist us. Many times she reference to the kitchen and how they had 3 people back there as if it was plenty of help, she did not understand why our food was poorly prepped. We assured her our appreciation with our generous gratitude and exited. In the car, I took a thrashn from my children who never wanted Sonny’s since our last bad experience. I took a glance at the recipient after getting home. Guess why our food had so many errors? It was not entered or ordered how we had ordered. Eeeh. So disappointing all the way around! $150. bucks paid out for another poor experience.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Sonny’s BBQ today, and I have to give major props to my server Angel who made the meal truly memorable. From the moment I walked in, Angel greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm that set the tone for the entire visit.
Angel was incredibly attentive throughout my meal – my drink never went empty, and they checked in at just the right moments without being intrusive. What really impressed me was their knowledge of the menu. When I asked about the different sauce options, Angel gave detailed descriptions and even made personalized recommendations based on my taste preferences.
The food came out hot and fresh, and Angel made sure I had everything I needed, including extra napkins (definitely needed for Sonny’s delicious ribs!). Their friendly, professional demeanor and attention to detail really elevated the whole dining experience.
It’s clear that Angel takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about ensuring guests have a great time. Excellent service like this is what keeps me coming back to Sonny’s. Angel is definitely an asset to your team – give them a raise! I’ll absolutely be requesting Angel’s section on my next visit.

Holy cow (pun intended) – some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had in my life. Those St Louis-style ribs are to DIE for. They just fell right off the bone. I shared a four-meat combo with a friend, and there was more than enough food; very reasonably priced. The service was super friendly, too. She even offered to get us to-go drinks. (My friend from Kentucky tells me that’s pretty normal, but that’s not something I’ve ever encountered as a northerner. Loved it.)

First time in Kentucky and at Sonny’s BBQ and it was delicious. We got the family meal with toasted buttered bread, variety of meats, three sides ( fries, beans, and broccoli. ), and four drinks. Our server also gave us an extra side of sweet potatoes! My favorite was the beef brisket and the beans. Definitely make sure to try the Smokin’ BBQ sauce, the best one personally.

Oh my gosh, I did not expect to be doing a review when I walked in the door, but I find it necessary! First of all, my waitress, Lora was the sweetest and most attentive server I’ve had in a long time! Thank you, Lora! The food was excellent; they had a rib special the day I was there and the ribs, coleslaw, baked potato and cornbread were the best I’ve had in a very long time. Try the peach bbq sauce too!

Update 7.9.2025: I saw the “Everyday Deals” online and wanted to get the “$12 Pork & Rib Combo”. My husband went through the drive thru and made the order. We didn’t realize until he got home that they charged for the “Pick 2 combo”. I priced up both with the same including premium sides. The “12 Pork & Rib Combo” is $13.50 while the “Pick 2 combo” priced out with ribs and the premium side is $17.99. They are essentially the same meal, they just charged me $4.50 more by not giving me the “Everyday Deal”. Not okay.
Update 5.1.2025: My take out reviews in the past have not been good. It has been a while since we went to this restaurant so we decided to give it another try. We ordered online for pickup. Another bad experience. This was the third take out order in a row that was wrong. We got the redneck egg rolls and they were missing the sauce (just like last time). I also ordered okra (which is a premium side so I paid extra) and that was also not in the order. They have a receipt on the bag with items highlighted showing the order was checked. (The order was obviously not checked) IF YOU GET TAKE OUT BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR ORDER.
Update 9.11.2024: The last two take our orders we received had items missing. Tonight we ordered the redneck egg rolls and the peach cobbler eggrolls along with other items. The eggrolls were supposed to come with Smokin’ Ranch and the peach cobbler eggrolls were supposed to come with whipped cream. We received neither.

We have gone to Sonny’s about three times since my previous post. Both the service and the quality of food have greatly improved.
Update: It had been a few months since we tried Sonny’s so we tried to give them another shot. That was a mistake. We were there for an hour and a half and most of it was spent waiting. We waited to be seated because there wasn’t a hostess. A waitress sat us and took our drink order but those took about ten minutes to arrive. Once we ordered it took over thirty minutes for our food to arrive. A table came and sat down while we were waiting and they got their food even before we received ours. When it did arrive the meat on neither plate was warm. It felt like it hadn’t even been heated. There was also hardly any breading on the Okra. You could see the green of the okra almost completely. One positive was that the waitress was very nice and genuine. We will be making the drive to the Richmond location from now on.

When I got the brisket grilled cheese the bread was super soggy. Another time, we got take out and had ordered online. We didn’t get the order until 30 minutes past the stated time and it was cold. Most recently, we went in and waited nearly 10 minutes before a waitress came over. We were just about to walk out. Also, the baked potato was burned.
