We were able to enjoy the salad bar, (which could’ve been a meal on it’s own) and our meals arrived via a robot! The 4 of us in our party each got different meals, and they all looked delicious! The portions are huge!
We were able to meet Cheryl, one of the owners, who told us about the history of the restaurant and their experiences. She made us feel appreciated and grateful that we had been there.
Overall, I would highly recommend but arrive early! The place fills up quickly and for good reason!
We ordered the fried pickles for appetizer. I forgot to get a picture but they were really delicious.
I ordered the fried catfish Sammie without bread and extra lettuce as kind of a lettuce wrap-ish. They only had pre shredded lettuce which was fine. The fried catfish was really delicious! I was very happy to have ordered it that way with less bread and it was still really tasty! They have my favorite catfish Sammie and they are consistently very good!
My son ordered the Batesburger. It was 2 patties and really good! He pulled one of the patties off just to be able to eat it! Very well made burger!
My husband had the hot wings. He said they were really good too.
I kind of miss the old atmosphere of supporting the local schools but the new decor was cool; lots of movie and song references and tastefully done.
Def a good go to place in Batesburg.
The TWO chicken fried steaks as a sandwich was phenomenal. A country boy portion of fried deliciousness. Oddly, it had no gravy on it, but it didn’t really need it.
The reuben was another beast. Ordered it to go, and it filled a dinner sized takeaway box. So tasty too.
The place is jam packed at all times but the wait time was still only a few minutes. The staff is friendly and fast. The prices are great since most orders are two meals. Well… they should be anyway 😉
This goes in the “don’t miss” list 100%
We drove from Sandy Run to dine here and was skeptical about that long of a drive to eat but glad we did. Food was very good and I promise you won’t leave hungry? The owner greeted us when we arrived and very personable. They make us feel like they’re glad to see us! Overall an enjoyable experience and we will be back!
First let me say what was great. The atmosphere felt charged in a good way, like there was real excitement among the customers and the two employees I interacted with. They were very professional, friendly, and quick considering how busy they were.
I placed a to-go order for the mid-rare prime rib platter, and the 2lb rib platter, and it was ready for me to pick up less than 15 minutes later. Again they were slammed with a line out the door, so that was impressive.
Unfortunately when I got home we found the prime rib was quite undercooked, tough, and the fat hadn’t even been trimmed or rendered. It was not easy to cut, and difficult to chew. It also had very little seasoning or flavor. I’m not a picky eater and typically I have loved prime rib from just about anywhere I’ve had it, so this isn’t me being finicky about a perfect presentation. This dish was just very disapointing.
I had also purchased the rib platter to save for supper tomorrow since the weather is calling for several inches of snow, so I decided to try them instead. Unfortunately, there’s no other way to describe the ribs than burnt. The meat was the consistency of a dry beef jerky, and the skin was charred black and brittle.
The salads were fresh and tasty. The house made chips were delicious, and the rolls served with both meals were very good, but unfortunately ribs were inedible, and the prime rib was only moderately better.
With as popular and crowded as this restaurant seem to be I can’t imagine this was a normal representation of their kitchen. At least I certainly hope not.
I may attempt to give them another try at some point, maybe on a slower service, but with this being my only experience to go on so far, I’m really disappointed.
Very tasty. The service was great and the prices reasonable.
Next time I want to try the Batesburger.
