Heard about this interesting place and finally gave it a try. We were NOT disappointed! The staff was warm and inviting, and we loved the rustic decor of the place! Our waitress was polite and attentive, and we felt as if we were longtime family stopping in for a visit!
We were able to enjoy the salad bar, (which could’ve been a meal on it’s own) and our meals arrived via a robot! The 4 of us in our party each got different meals, and they all looked delicious! The portions are huge!
We were able to meet Cheryl, one of the owners, who told us about the history of the restaurant and their experiences. She made us feel appreciated and grateful that we had been there.
Overall, I would highly recommend but arrive early! The place fills up quickly and for good reason!

Our first time at Wiz’s since they reopened. They were busy! We waited about 10mins for a table mostly because we had 5ppl in our party.
We ordered the fried pickles for appetizer. I forgot to get a picture but they were really delicious.
I ordered the fried catfish Sammie without bread and extra lettuce as kind of a lettuce wrap-ish. They only had pre shredded lettuce which was fine. The fried catfish was really delicious! I was very happy to have ordered it that way with less bread and it was still really tasty! They have my favorite catfish Sammie and they are consistently very good!
My son ordered the Batesburger. It was 2 patties and really good! He pulled one of the patties off just to be able to eat it! Very well made burger!
My husband had the hot wings. He said they were really good too.
I kind of miss the old atmosphere of supporting the local schools but the new decor was cool; lots of movie and song references and tastefully done.
Def a good go to place in Batesburg.

This was our first time at Wiz’s. Honestly, cannot say enough about our experience tonight. Our Waitress was so sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. The parking lot was full but we were seated within five minutes. They have a everyday menu and an additional menu of nightly specials. A salad bar is included with the nightly specials. There’s definitely something for everyone on this menu. The waitress told me the owner makes his own bread for the Rubens and sub sandwiches. I just had to try it. It was massive. I barely ate a fourth of it and I’m a big eater. My husband got the hamburger which included 16 ounces of beef. We enjoyed watching a robot deliver everyone’s dishes. It was also a great way to see what the other menu items look like. Everything I saw looked Tasty. You can Tell the owners take pride in every aspect of this place. I’ve always heard great things about wiz’s and now I can say I agree.

We had a great experience here! Speedy and friendly service. Could have filled up on the salad bar alone. The meals were VERY generously portioned so we had a lot of leftovers. The corn nuggets took me by surprise as being very good!!

I have driven by this place more times than I can count. It’s either been closed (they have a limited schedule), or I’ve not had time to stop…. and then I did. I should mention right here that I went back the next day as well. When was the last time you went to the same place two nights in a row because you couldn’t decide what you wanted the first time? Yes, the first time was that good. So was the second time. And so were the leftovers from both. You will have leftovers as the portions are massive.

The TWO chicken fried steaks as a sandwich was phenomenal. A country boy portion of fried deliciousness. Oddly, it had no gravy on it, but it didn’t really need it.

The reuben was another beast. Ordered it to go, and it filled a dinner sized takeaway box. So tasty too.

The place is jam packed at all times but the wait time was still only a few minutes. The staff is friendly and fast. The prices are great since most orders are two meals. Well… they should be anyway 😉

This goes in the “don’t miss” list 100%

Let me preface by saying it was very busy when we went. The food was, for me and my mom, a little underwhelming in that it wasn’t seasoned. Now, I understand we all have different preferences. The apps were pretty, but there was no basic seasoning. I ordered the steak fries with my French dip because the waitress said they were seasoned, but mine didn’t even have salt on them, much less any other seasoning. My mom got the lemon pepper wings, and the waitress told her they used a dry rub, which was not even visible on the wings when they came out. They did bring her extra seasoning, and that all worked out. Now, let me tell you, that French dip was on point! For me,the French dip was the saving grace of what would have been a completely underwhelming experience. Overall, I ain’t mad at it, but I definitely wasn’t blown away- well, except by the French dip- they did that all the way right!

Met some family to eat. I had forgotten we had eaten here before so I will speak for myself. To start off, Breanna was our waitress. She was very friendly and a lot of fun! Her smile was contagious! I had the Reuben Sandwich. OMG, I got full just eating what had fallen off the sandwich! Very good and I ended up bringing half of it home and eating it for lunch the next day! Have a bottle of Thousand Island at the ready when you do though! As far as atmosphere, conversation at our table was a little difficult due to background chatter but that’s to be expected at a busy restaurant. Prices were more than fair for what you get.
We drove from Sandy Run to dine here and was skeptical about that long of a drive to eat but glad we did. Food was very good and I promise you won’t leave hungry? The owner greeted us when we arrived and very personable. They make us feel like they’re glad to see us! Overall an enjoyable experience and we will be back!

I’m so disappointed, and I’m really hoping that I just had a isolated poor experience, because Wiz’s seemed to be so promising.

First let me say what was great. The atmosphere felt charged in a good way, like there was real excitement among the customers and the two employees I interacted with. They were very professional, friendly, and quick considering how busy they were.

I placed a to-go order for the mid-rare prime rib platter, and the 2lb rib platter, and it was ready for me to pick up less than 15 minutes later. Again they were slammed with a line out the door, so that was impressive.

Unfortunately when I got home we found the prime rib was quite undercooked, tough, and the fat hadn’t even been trimmed or rendered. It was not easy to cut, and difficult to chew. It also had very little seasoning or flavor. I’m not a picky eater and typically I have loved prime rib from just about anywhere I’ve had it, so this isn’t me being finicky about a perfect presentation. This dish was just very disapointing.

I had also purchased the rib platter to save for supper tomorrow since the weather is calling for several inches of snow, so I decided to try them instead. Unfortunately, there’s no other way to describe the ribs than burnt. The meat was the consistency of a dry beef jerky, and the skin was charred black and brittle.

The salads were fresh and tasty. The house made chips were delicious, and the rolls served with both meals were very good, but unfortunately ribs were inedible, and the prime rib was only moderately better.

With as popular and crowded as this restaurant seem to be I can’t imagine this was a normal representation of their kitchen. At least I certainly hope not.

I may attempt to give them another try at some point, maybe on a slower service, but with this being my only experience to go on so far, I’m really disappointed.

This place is feeding people steak that is glued together with meat glue. This is not real food… Stay away as far as you can. I asked about it and the old lady who served us got VERY upset. We left and will never be back. This place serves trash 100%

I’m passed by this place many times. I finally stopped in because I was tired of chain restaurants . I got the rib platter. The ribs were nice and tender. The coleslaw was homemade.
Very tasty. The service was great and the prices reasonable.
Next time I want to try the Batesburger.
