I hope the owner of Kosta’s reads this and takes immediate action to end the injustice caused by their employees. 15-20 years ago, it was one of my favorite places in Palatine. Recently, my family and I returned to reminisce about the good times we had there.
However, our experience was far from pleasant. We arrived, ordered, and after only 5 minutes, three people appeared who seemed to know the man I assume was in charge—a thin Hispanic man with a graying mustache. He greeted them effusively, seated them, and promptly brought them an extra-large order of fries. They happily waited for their food (around 5 minutes), which I never saw that they paid for.
Meanwhile, my family and I were left waiting over 30 minutes for our cheeseburger combo and two orders of chicken kebab dinner. During this time, they served over five families who arrived later, along with fries, soda, chicken, and hamburgers to each of them. It was clear that this man was prioritizing his relatives over our orders.
Frustrated, I approached him to inquire about my order. He simply told me to wait because the chicken kebab was frozen and would take longer. However, he offered me the cheeseburger, which was already ready and completely cold and hard after waiting for 25 minutes. No one had informed me that it was ready!
Finally, the kebabs arrived, and they were disgusting. They were full of grease, cold, and the potato wedges were soaked in old oil. The fries accompanying the burger were undercooked. To add insult to injury, the salad they served in small containers was moldy. We threw away the food and left the restaurant.
We will never return to Kosta’s. I hope the owner reprimands this person who only paid attention to his family and happily ate without paying for their food.

My sister and I stopped in on Tuesday, December 23rd after doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, and we had such a great experience. We were greeted by a young man at the counter who was very polite and welcoming. He took our order, and we found a seat. We ordered the traditional gyros and the southwest gyros with curly fries—everything was absolutely delicious.
What really stood out to us, though, was the customer service. We weren’t sure what time they closed, but we noticed the staff starting to clean up. When we asked one of the chefs if they were closing, instead of saying yes or no, he kindly responded with “What can I get for you?” and reassured us that it was completely okay to place another order. We were ordering food for family at home, and his kindness and professionalism genuinely took us by surprise—in the best way.
In my opinion, this place has the best gyros around, and the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. Thank you for staying a little later for us and for such wonderful service. We’ll definitely be back!

First tried this place this past early August after my wife & I took our boys to a nearby indoor playground.
My thoughts are that like many Chicago/Greek grills, the Gyros here definitely are the bomb. The food in general is good all around but the Gyros are excellent.
I can’t say that I’ve tried every Chicago grill or Greek restaurant in Chicago and the suburbs but I really like Kosta’s. Moist, soft and the meat is seasoned just right and not too salty.
Prices still seem reasonable for what you get, I love the dining room vibe which is kept very clean and the service was on par like most competitors I’ve been to.
If ever in the area, I’d definitely stop back in for another delicious monster Gyros sandwich!

It’s a cheat day! Went on a Thursday night about 715pm not very packed but that’s not a representation of their food. Cheeseburger was delicious. Juicy. Gyros meal that came with drink and fries was good. The fries are more like Culver’s than Portillo’s. I prefer Portillo’s fries. Overall a great place. Fresh food. Super nice staff and clean!

Very disappointed!! Came here for lunch me and my friend had to get back to a meeting at 12:45pm came to have lunch at 12pm waited till 12:30pm went to the counter and thw cooks said they never got our ticket and we paid the young man at thw counter. I will not be mean but thw cooks were more into helping their own kind and laughing than giving paying customers their food!!!

1-31-2020 updated. Four stars to give stars. The restaurant runs like a well oiled machine. Foods fantastic like always. Yes you are paying a little extra. But I’m going to say that there’s absolutely nothing I’ve had from there that’s just ok. Literally everything we’ve tried is well above average to excellent. Expect longer than usual waits during peak hours….
