They made a great Burger, we both ordered their Social Goat Burger, one traditional, the other no garden with cheddar rather than pimento. The buns were toasted with a good amount of butter. For sides we got Mac n Cheese, Sweet Potato fries and Potato Salad. Best was probably the fries, perfectly crispy. We didn’t love the potato salad. The highlight was the Bacon Onion Jam and the goat decor. Service from Stewart was great.

Social Goat Tavern is a cute restaurant and bar in the heart of Covington, Georgia. We tried the chicken sandwich and tacos and we loved both entrees. The food was really good but the service was meh! Our waiter was also the bartender (the restaurant was maybe 1/3 – 1/2 full, nowhere near capacity). Other than that everything was really good.
The upstairs bar is really cool and we got electric blue drink boxes which were great!!
The views from the terrace are also sooo cool at night!!

Our server Augusta was excellent and a pleasure to talk to about the establishment very knowledgeable about all the food and drinks.
I like IPAs and she directed me to a good one.
Appreciated her input.
We had the fish and chips that were excellent and the Philly cheese which was very tasty.

The service here was very homey! Somehow I lucked out with a sarcastic bartender one night and a sarcastic server the next. I LOVED IT. No one took themselves too seriously- just a very relaxing atmosphere. The burgers were amazing, try whatever $5 mystery shot they offer, and grab a few drinks at the bar. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the moonshine flight. It tasted very watered down and not like moonshine at all so I wouldn’t get it again. Im not a bourbon fan but the did brothers bond flight because why not?! We were in town for VPD. It tasted very much like bourbon so im not going to rate it since all bourbon taste the same to me. If you’re a bourbon fan- give it a try. Its worth it for the Pic alone.

Surfer was good. The food was great. Lots of fun choices. There were some gluten-free options, but you definitely have to ask for those dietary restrictions. Getting there early would definitely help getting a booth

Table for 2 for dinner

We have been to downtown Covington before and know there is street parking everywhere.  This particular time the spots around the actual town square were taken, so we had to find an available spot on a side street. It was a short walk to The Social Goat Tavern and we entered without a reservation. A host guided us to a high-top table toward the back of the dining room. Right away, we noticed the extensive beer selection and a large menu to match. The space itself is much bigger than it appears from the outside—with sizable front and back dining areas, plus a few outdoor tables near the entrance. I also heard there’s an upstairs section, but it was closed off that day for a private event. The interior had the feel of a slightly elevated dive bar— a little dark but casual and comfortable. There was a QR code on the menu to pull up the full beer selection, but I couldn’t get any phone signal inside, so the menu never loaded for me. I couldn’t even do an online check in.  Luckily, one of the staff came over, asked what styles of beer we liked, and mentioned that the full selection was also listed on the board behind the bar. We could also see all the taps, which helped. Wifey spotted one of her favorites—Fall Line Brewing’s Daily Rind Wheat—and ordered that right away. I asked to sample a couple options and eventually landed on Glittery Eyes, a hazy IPA from Creature Comforts. Goat-themed artwork covered the walls of the interior dining room, tying in nicely with the restaurant’s name. Food-wise, Wifey ordered the fried shrimp with sweet potato fries (which could’ve been crispier), and I went with the pulled pork tacos—which were well seasoned. As we hung out, the dining room started to fill up, and we could tell this place draws a good crowd. At one point, we noticed a few flies and gnats buzzing around—not ideal and a little distracting during dinner.  One highlight: they seem to host live performers on rotation, which would be good to catch one evening. Our server, Augusta, was nice but clearly juggling a lot—it seemed like she was covering the entire bar by herself. We had to flag her down to get the check.  Overall, it was a decent experience. Wifey kinda enjoyed it more than I did—it had a casual charm that clicked more for her. For me, it leaned more into the elevated dive-bar lane. 3.5 rating

Finally got to try The Social Goat and so glad we did! We were seated quickly in a nice, “private” booth, which was a great touch. The BBQ nachos we had for an appetizer were outstanding—a definite highlight! We then shared the taco platter, opting for the brisket, gyro, and buffalo chicken, and they were all incredibly flavorful and well-prepared. We finished with the key lime pie, which was okay, but could use a little more tartness for my taste. Still, a wonderful meal and excellent service!

We sat outside on the patio and everything was Great. It overlooked the square which was great for us – our first time in Covington for my birthday weekend. My boyfriend had the BBQ Nacho taco listed under the taco section and he said it was delicious. I had french fries, beer and the cure, which were all also delicious.

Was looking for something new to try and this place was a hit! Our waitress was so nice and had a really great vibe. My sister wanted a drink off the brunch menu, however they were no longer serving it so the bartender made her something similar and she loved it. We both got the wicked goat fries and they were my favorite. Great flavor with a nice touch of sweetness. My burger and drink were also very good. The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, there’s plenty of seating and it gives off really cool tavern aesthetics. I definitely want to come back to try their brunch menu and other items they serve. They also do live music and different events here and it’s located right in the downtown area. So glad we tried this place, we will be back soon!

We decided to go to the Social Goat to get Damon’s famous pancakes for brunch. We went around 12pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t crowded. We got to sit outside on the terrace with a great view of the clock tower which was exciting!!!

We ordered spinach dip, pancakes, and a Philly cheesesteak. They were all good!

Our waitress was below average and only checked on us once throughout our meal. By the time she came back the second time around, we were asking for the check. No big deal, but we may have had better service going to the Mystic Grill as they were excellent during an extremely busy night. Overall not too bad!
