Might be one of the best-smelling restaurants I’ve ever walked into! My friend picked The Black Sheep for lunch and told me, “We’re having tacos!” She knows Mexican food is my favorite, so she had me at tacos. And honestly… the name Black Sheep is genius — I couldn’t wait to try it.
From the moment we walked in, the vibe was completely my style: brick, wood, warm lighting — cozy, modern, and so inviting. I ordered the fish taco and the carne asada taco, and I can’t even explain how good they were. Absolutely delicious! We shared guacamole and queso for the table, and both were outstanding.
Everything tasted incredibly fresh, high quality, and thoughtfully prepared. The staff was friendly, helpful, and the whole place felt well-run and well-loved. I truly can’t wait to take my family here.
On the way out, I noticed their vending machine — not your typical machine at all! It had useful items plus some local, handcrafted pieces. A blinged-out lighter caught my eye, and of course I was happy to support local while working in Bellingham for the day.
Five stars isn’t enough — thank you, Black Sheep, for such an amazing lunch and experience. I will definitely be back!

Lovely intimate place. Clever cocktails and mocktails and great tacos. Had a ginger toddy mocktail and it was delicious. Had carnitas taco and the fish tacos. Both delightful. Server was attentive and gave great meal details.

Black Sheep is a fantastic pub with great Mexican food in a convenient location. Decor is cool. No issues serving our family party of 7, walk-in on a Friday afternoon.
Everyone enjoyed their various tacos, burritos and chimichangas. I had the soup of the day which was a generous bowl of chicken chili. Very filling and flavourful with just the right amount of spice.
Bathrooms were large and clean.

Black sheep is my favorite taco place in Bellingham! The pineapple on the carnitas taco is the perfect touch. Great drinks, easy parking. Fantastic aesthetics inside!

Great vibes. Love that you can set at the bar, or window bar, or tented outside or even upstairs. Sweet candle lighting at every table. Delicious fish tacos & the Paloma is 5stars. Loved the lighting. Quaint Industrial casual vibe.

Family and I were looking for lunch on a Saturday and found this place. No wait, just a table straight away. Our wait staff was so sweet and very personable. The pizza here is like a focaccia bread dough. The kids were each able to get a slice and husband and I shared a full one. So good. The dough was airy and the ingredients were fresh. If you are looking for good pizza, this is your place. The vibes are also just, 10/10.

Amazingly good food and atmosphere. Kind staff, fast service. The vegan tacos were epic as was the carne asada. Can’t wait to go back.

Don’t believe the hype. It feels like half the reviews here are either from years ago before the quality dipped or they’re just fake/inflated. The food was incredibly bland and service was dismissive at best. It’s a ‘cool’ spot for a drink if you like dark, loud rooms, but as a taco joint? Total fail. Save your money and your time.

Potentially the best tacos I’ve ever had?? I came up from Seattle to visit a friend & got the guac (SO GOOD) & three tacos (pork belly, carne asada, & fried fish). All three were incredible & now I’m just sad it’s such a long drive from me. Highly recommend!!! Also very celiac friendly!!
