The only reason for the 4 stars was the jambalaya was a bit dry. Every jambalaya I have ever had was a bit moist. Other than that the restaurant was clean, warm and inviting. The gumbo was great, boudin was excellent. No real other issues. Real quick stopoff working a 15 hrs shift.

Everyone is always super friendly and helpful! Food is always consistent and very good (home cooking). Tonight we had chicken and sausage gumbo and shared a small potato salad.
My only complaint is like all restaurants when it gets close to closing, they all want to start sweeping while customers are still eating (stirring up dust in your food). I personally think sweeping and mopping should be done after close.

The food is great – I would love it if you all could make a chicken jambalaya only because I don’t eat sausage and pick it out when I go to eat the meal..the atmosphere is very good. Honestly the younger clerks seem to say “have a good day”, or nothing at all, but what I much prefer to hear is a simple “thank you”. Old school here.

This is my family’s go to for quick service jambalaya! Although other local restaurants specialize in this, Rice & Roux’s Pork and Sausage is HARD to Beat!! Sides are awesome and we always finish with their banana pudding.

The food was awesome here. Got the jambalaya. They had boudin balls which were amazing!!! Service was quick and friendly definitely will return here. The gumbo was seasoned very well. Get the cornbread instead of the roll.

Excellent comfort food and friendly staff. We got gumbo, chicken and sausage jambalaya and crawfish pies. (And a bread pudding!) The food came out fast and 1 sampler plate was plenty of food for 2 people. We spent less than $25 for dinner for 2 including tip!

My partner and I decided to grab some southern Cajun cooking prior to heading back to Texas. We stopped in Rice & Roux which is pretty much a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy about this place, but the food sure is good for the price. For under $15 you can get a sampler of jambalaya, gumbo, a dinner side, a dinner roll, drink and one entree.
I had a sampler combo #2 with the boudin. It was pretty tasty but my favorite had to be the gumbo; perfectly seasoned and the meat was blended well.
If I do come back it sure will be for the gumbo.
My partner loved his red beans and rice!
Overall, if you are in this area and want a taste of Cajun this is a perfect spot to stop by and fix your cravings.

The food was amazing . The sweet girl that took our order was so very nice . The place was clean . The kitchen crew, on the other hand, apparently didn’t realize the wood wall didn’t block out all the cussing and conversations they were having .

Absolutely incredible food. I’m from Va and we don’t have food like this at home. First time trying gumbo and I’m in love. Great service and the restaurant is very clean. I will be back to get more.

Small family run business, that treat you like family. Best Gumbo and Jambalaya in Louisiana. Delicious daily lunch specials, freshly made sides, salads, desserts. Friendliest staff, always clean relaxing and inviting. I visit every week, for over a decade now. You’ll become a regular, after trying the best Cajun creole in Baton Rouge!!!
