What a great family diner! I had seen the many locations across Oregon but had never stopped in. I’m glad I rectified that mistake. At the location in Redmond the service was friendly, the prices reasonable, and the portions ample. I got their Bigfoot chicken fried steak & eggs which is enough to easily feed two people. The waffles were perfect and the pancakes the perfect thickness and delicious. They keep the place clean and there is even a little bear related gift shop. All around a solid stop if you’re going through or staying in Redmond!

Just a terrible food experience. It was dinner time and the cook had only been there a short while. The New York was ordered medium and came out bleeding all over. Then our patty melt had amaerican instead of swiss cheese. The green beans smelled and had a funky looking piece of spongy bacon inside. There was what appeared to be undercooked something pink in my gravy on top of my Bigfoot chicken fried steak. Been here plenty of times before, and this has by far been the worst. Hopefully this problem gets addressed, as we do enjoy eating there.

We like Black Bear Diners. Unfortunately, they were understaffed, and the staff was untrained on how to serve tables. Basic stuff like being friendly, asking if there was anything needed, spoons for soup, knives to eat with, napkins, bringing our bill, and having someone to take money at the register. Pretty basic. We’ll be back. It was probably just a bad day. But some of this is due to lack of training.

We were a table of two and a family of 4 came in after us. Same server, ordered a simple breakfast which was the same as 1 of the family of 4. They got theirs plate first and it took forever to get any food from our table.
Wasn’t prioritized at all. Theirs was made with toppings and sides mine got nothing that I had to ask for twice. Service was horrible. Food came out ugly and tasted so mid. (Literally that’s what it came like)
Do not recommend this restaurant at all

Great food, though not exploding with flavor. Nice service, fast wait time from sitting down to getting your food. Comfortable atmosphere.

The three front of house people were super friendly and working hard. Necktat kitchen cook guy totally walked out and left them all hanging with three tickets in the printer. Didn’t even say goodbye. Thankfully this boss babe went back there and cooked my meal. And she actually made my bacon extra crispy liked I asked.
Can’t not mention the nice young man, possibly working one of his first jobs. He didn’t ignore me, which he easily could have done while unloading dishes. Instead, he got me started with coffee and cream at the counter while the other two FOH rockstars handled the lil rush.
Just your tried and true American diner breakfast to remind you of days past with the grandparents and family. They fit their niche and stay reasonably priced for it. Left content…. with a whole another breakfast of leftovers for tomorrow!

Went to this location for lunch and when we walked in we noticed the carpets were extremely dirty. We almost left but decided to look past that part. We got seated and sat down by the only server working. We waited over 15 mins to even order drinks. I finally asked the server if we can get drinks. She took our drink order the same time as our food order.
As we were sitting we noticed so much dust all over the restaurant and the lamp above our table had been caked on with dust.
When our water came out, the cups were all cracked and 2 of the 4 cups were extremely dirty with what looked like old soda or coffee on them.
I asked what the soup was and the server said no soup today. We asked for honey mustard and was told they don’t have that. I then asked for garlic fries and was told no.
One of us ordered the tri-tip deluxe. It came out extremely small compared to the ones we order at the Madras Black Bear. We noticed it didn’t even have the onions that make it a deluxe. I asked the sever and she confirmed it was supposed to have onions yet still charged us full price when she seen there were no onions. The aujus sauce was see through like water.
The fires we dry and had zero salt.
Over all, we left feeling disgusted and worried we may all get sick from how dirty everything was.
We will never return to this location but instead will continue to go to Madras.

The food was delicious and decent! Atm I was with my Wildland firefighting crew and even though they were understaffed (for obvious reasons of 2021) they gave us a cozy welcome and feed 20 of us. They are so original and glad to see how they are keeping their originality even in such times !

I wanted a quick breakfast as I needed to get to work. Julis seated me and had my order to me in less than 10 minutes. She cashed me out and brought a box so I could leave promptly when I was done. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!!! Thank you Julie! She was SUPER friendly and absolutely perfect service. I will be returning just to see her at breakfast! Thank you Julie!

I can’t think of the last time we were treated so well at any restaurant. I called about gluten free options and birthday specials and they were very helpful. We ate here twice this month and were treated like we were their friends. Maybe the poor reviews are about how laid back the staff is? I don’t know. Bummer people have been disappointed, this place happened to be good to us! Perhaps it’s because we are kinda bearish?
Both times we arrived unhappy and left happy. In fact, I rarely shop at gift stores but I love the bear stuff and spent too much money. I not only love good food but I really love employees that connect with customers, in fact more than anywhere else we’ve done business in Redmond. If you want to leave a bad review, please work with staff ahead of time because they really aim to please if you give them a chance.
Update… Thanks BBD for the reply, anyway, we think the names of the servers for both visits were Rafael and then Jessica
