We love this place. Looking for some quick burgers and a shake, look no further. My kids always get the hot dogs, the fries are always hot & fresh, burgers are perfect. Great chili (as a homemade soup style & they have coney chili too). We’ve been coming here for years and we’ve never been disappointed.

Cool digs! Reminds me of places I’ve seen in old movies where everyone eats at the counter, chatting with your neighbors & the staff.
Staff is friendly, fast, and with a good sense of humor.
Menu isn’t huge but it’s all made quickly after you order so it fresh & hot.
Big crinkle-cut fries – unsalted ( ), hot dogs, burgers, chili, coneys, you get the idea.
The burgers are slider sized, order as few or as many as you want, mixed or matched.
A bit noisy but tolerable.

There’s this male, I guess supervisor, who is always obnoxious and rude!
He’s not just rude to the employees, but the guest too!
There’s nothing nice about this guy!
It’s bad enough that many of the regulars have inside jokes about how pathetic his supervision skills are!
He’s just mean!
He should be made to apologize to all the employees and all the regulars at minimum for his behavior!
He’s currently being rude to an employee and I just heard a curse word out of his mouth as I am creating this post!
If he’s a representative of this company and the owners it doesn’t show anything good about this establishment!
I’m hoping I don’t get banned for this post!

Bates Burgers is a true local gem and has been serving the community since 1959. The smash burgers are consistently excellent, simple, flavorful, and cooked just right, all at very reasonable prices. One of the best parts is their carry out multipacks, which are perfect for families or feeding a group without breaking the bank. It’s the kind of long standing neighborhood spot that keeps you coming back because it does the basics extremely well. If you’re looking for a classic local burger place with great value, this is it.

I have lived in Livonia for 15 years. I’ve never been to this burger place first time today I called. They put me on hold for at least 15 minutes by the time she picked up the phone I was pulling in the parking lot. I ordered four cheeseburgers, chili fries, and three Coney dogs. The chili fries were so dry that I threw them out the hot dogs were old so my own opinion, I would never go back there and I hear good things about this restaurant until I tried it.
