Rooted in the local farm-to-table movement — a place where seasonality and culinary tradition are celebrated in tandem. One part Hawaii and one part Brooklyn. The atmosphere shares a brasserie feel with a laid-back island sensibility—a celebration and homage to all of our favorite things we enjoy eating and drinking. Crafted with brick & reclaimed wood, our urban Hawaiian farmhouse features an open kitchen, lush plant wall, brick walls, and lots of natural light in a historic Chinatown building. The bar mixes classic and modern cocktails with artisanal flare with a well-curated wine list. We are The 2022 James Beard winner for Best Chef Northwest & Pacific.
Cool, brick-walled hangout serving New American cuisine for lunch & dinner, plus cocktails & beer.

The Chicken Liver Mousse was smooth and rich, perfectly balanced by the sour cherry red onion marmalade and pickled okra. The Fête Spreads were perfect for sharing, and the Steak Tartare was a standout-beautifully prepared with bold, balanced flavors. The Koji-Brined Ludovico Chicken was juicy and memorable, finished with a rich mushroom sourdough cream sauce. I also had the night’s special lasagna, which was outstanding-comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
Thoughtful, delicious, and welcoming-Fête is a must-visit and a place we’ll happily return to.
Though the restaurant offers an intimate setting, it is exceptionally well-organized and beautifully managed. The space was vibrant and filled with enthusiastic, food-loving patrons — a clear sign that something special was happening in that kitchen. I strongly recommend making reservations, as the restaurant was bustling throughout the evening.
When we arrived, we realized our reservation was scheduled for an hour later than we anticipated. The owner, Chuck, graciously accommodated us and offered several seating options without hesitation. His hospitality immediately set the tone for the evening. He visited our table several times, thoughtfully sharing the evening specials and warmly engaging in conversation. We learned that his wife serves as the head chef — and it is evident that excellence begins at the top.
Now, the food — absolutely outstanding.
I ordered the Pink Snapper, which was prepared to perfection. The presentation was elegant, and the flavor profile was balanced, fresh, and memorable. My fiancé ordered the Beet Salad, the Mahi Mahi fish sandwich, prawns, and the lasagna roll — and every single dish exceeded expectations. Each plate was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We were also introduced to sea asparagus — “crazy good” does not begin to describe it.
Our server, Annie, delivered customer service that was simply exceptional. She was patient as we asked questions about the menu, attentive throughout the meal, and genuinely kind. Her professionalism and warmth enhanced an already remarkable dining experience.
Chef Nick prepared our meal, and his craftsmanship was evident in every detail — from plating to taste. The dishes were not only visually stunning but deeply satisfying.
If you are visiting Hawaii, Fête must be on your list of must-do dining experiences. The combination of culinary excellence, attentive service, and genuine hospitality makes it a standout destination.
Thank you, Fête, for an extraordinary evening. You will not be disappointed.
The other highlights of our meal were the risotto and the burger. While it’s not called a Kahuna Burger (it’s called the Chaz Burger) it still caused me to blurt out Samuel L. Jackson’s line, “This is one tasty burger!” And boy, I meant it. JP’s risotto was creamy, cheesy, with perfectly softened rice and full of flavor. These are items to definitely order again on subsequent visits.
The carbonara pasta was a bit on the bland side and was lacking in the knockout flavors of the other dishes but our pre-teen enjoyed it thoroughly.
The ambience is fairly basic yet the atmosphere is energized and bustling.
The service was friendly and fairly responsive (when you could get your server’s attention). It was fairly busy when we were there, so it’s understandable.
Give Fête a try next time you plan to be in Chinatown, you’ll be glad to put another Honolulu gem on your list of favorite lunch spots.
