Service is perfect with the right level of attentiveness and genuine interaction.
Atmosphere is unique and fun.
We go with our kids ages 3, 6, 8, 12 and all have a good time. We’ve been here probably a dozen times over past couple years.
Good for date night or hibachi or out with young kids
6/2023 update: portions are getting smaller and prices are increasing
Starting with the Fuji bowl, the representation and aesthetic were lacking. The bowl resemble a mushroom that lost its stem. The straws were ugly and cheap. The drink was not good. I could taste the cheap sugary liquor, instead of whatever they promised to put in.
Moving on to the entrée. The waitress brought out the salad to go with the entrée. The salad was not fresh and dressing look watered down. Again, presentation was not there to provoke any kind of appetize. Then, they brough out the actual entrée, and I was speechless. This entrée was $50. There were a bowl of rice, twelve small cubes of “fillet mignon”, two shrimps, 4 scallops, and eight small balls of “lobster”. First, I did not expect everything to be cut up to bite size. Second, I could have got way more with $20 at Sarku Japan in the West Town Mall. That was mockery of dinner. They gave a lot of rice and little of everything else.
And finally the service. I came in and told the host that we will have a party of nine. She was stacking the menus up to take me to my table, then another family of three walk in and she immediately took them to their table and left me there at the entrance. The server, while I was ordering my food, she made a face when I told her I want my fillet mignon extra rare. She commented “so, no cooking” smirking at me. And I had to explain to her that you would sear the steak. The service while was not horrible but rather unprofessional.
Overall, the hibachi was not terrible. It tasted about the same as any Japanese stir fried food chain in Madison. My family who ordered sushi and other dishes had nothing good to say about their meals. It is mediocre at the most, especially for its price. I will not come back again.
Feels like the place is going downhill. The chair cushions are cracked. Your shoes stick to the floor in the hallway. The bathroom is dirty around the edges. Not what it used to be.
Do they not give the lotus candle with the ice cream for the birthdays anymore??
Large group taking up 2 tables next to us. It was so loud in the room, we couldn’t hear anything as we tried to talk at our own table.
